From what I see (I'm assuming that ACC abides to the same physics as Assetto Corsa) is that the steering is harsh initially you kind of snap it too quickly. A good V Shape line has constant steering angle change AND the steering trace is exponential. At turn in the steering is slow and has very little angle then transitions to a quicker but still relatively smooth steering with much greater angle as you reach your apex. You also keep 100% brakes AND turn in. Try to release the brakes BEFORE you turn as to not oversaturate the fronts and give too much work for the front tires to do. This will also force you to carry more speed into the corner which in turn will also give a more V Shaped line. But keep in mind WHY a V Shaped line works. A good V Shape line occurs when you 1. Carry enough speed into the corner to extract rotation from 2. Have good trail braking technique 3. Have the car constantly and progressively rotating 4. Extract all of the track possible with the largest possible radius and 5. Are on the limit of grip. And when I mean progressively rotate I mean your car rotates very little on entry then rotates the most on the apex and loses rotation on exit. And one last thing that I noticed is that on some corners you use 100% brakes and then jump off the brakes. Some corners don't need 100% brakes and some are better taken at 50% brakes for the sole reason that it gives you less pedal travel and gives you more room to trail brake better and keep the front tires loaded for longer. I think that is what your issues are in ACC but I'm not too sure. I'm basing this off of my AC experience.

I really appreciate your comment! I can’t really say if the “physics” are what are causing the aggressive steering…from analyzing other people’s hot laps, I think that I am doing something similar (or at least at first glance)… But, in terms of trail braking…I can definitely improve and do as you suggested. And maybe by improving my trail braking, I will instinctively change my steering as well!! Only time will tell, but I will try it out and see what happens. Thanks!!

I do believe that a top 1% simracer has the tools (aside from time and money..) to be competitive IRL. The rentals I've driven had me doing my head in until I understood that snapping the rear on the brakes, and countering the oversteer by over steering, was how to go fast

You know…if you had told me this a few months back, I would agree…but the more I practice, the more I realize that the setup, the gear and the car you choose don’t have such a big impact in lap time… Most of the lap time is hidden behind our driving. It takes a lot of time to build the necessary experience, but we’ll get there eventually..!!
