I´d LIKE to say - "Never happened to me, genius." Buuuut... Been there done that. Not that badly, though, just a "quick" 15 minutes of walking away XD I had my own traveller chars, starting somewhere else, far, far away, but moving to Goldshire (for Roleplay reasons, but also because I knew every nook and crannie there). Imagine forgetting to set hearth after you´ve done all THAT. OOOF. That would mean a forced break for a few hours to me. Maybe punching some pillows and howl like a mad man. i made this journey with a friend who was adamant about being a night elf druid. we were a party of 4, a humans dwarf and a gnome. we made the journey to the NE starting zone to get him because he was completely new to wow. we made potions and repaired our gear for the long road ahead of us. man.....the travel itself was an adventure. i love that memory. sometimes just traveling with homies from one town to the text was just amazing itself.

My first character ever was a night elf, that music brings me so far back. I also love that this is the actual journey you needed to take to get to elwynn back in the day. If I was a nelf hunter I stopped on the way to get gun training too. Edit: I watched the whole thing and I'm glad I did. I knew where she was at all times by the tiny landmarks and was curious why she didn't set stone at any inns along the way lol! I lived vicariously through that little elf as I never made that run again after I got the Heirloom Chauffeur, but it was such a treat to see it again. Edit 2: I'm back again, just having it on in the background. This is my official chill video.

@@jonathanliddane4144 Nope, I am different, people are different, the game is different. If i remember back to old WoW times i remember me being young and more or less problemfree. No bills to pay, except for the WoW-sub fee, no important relationships except for a few friends. Live was different in 2006-2010. A classic WoW server with a ton of elitists who played on private servers the last few years or just people who studied their class guide for the last 1 month isn't comparable to the landscape that we had >10 years ago.

This reminds me of my times running up to Scarlet Monastery as an Alliance. It was a task many couldn’t be bothered to take on. I had that run down to a science, but the thrill of sneaking RIGHT passed the front gates of Undercity just KNOWING a ganking was around every corner… Sometimes meeting cool horde along the way. But the final push to get into the Monastery was no joke, with horde often camping the entrances/exits. These are the moments the I’ve never been able to recapture with any game since! Vanilla WoW was special for so many folks like me

I had the pleasure to experience WoW during it's prime, i played for about 1 year between tbc and wotlk. Even though i played for a breif time, i still remember this game like a part of my life, like i really lived it, a very different feeling compared to other games that influenced my childhood. My first pg was a night elf and i was so clueless that i thought teldrassil was the whole game (i was 12 and had no idea what an MMO was). My friend escorted me to stormwind to quest together and the journey was such a great but threatening experience. I also had no clue how to go back to teldrassil and i remember missing such a cool and quiet place. Finally went back visiting when i got my mount lol

Not to downplay his achievement or anything, but you can tell he is very smart about re-using assets. The nelf has basically three animations, the run cycle and the two jump animations. The rest is a scrolling background with the occasional moving NPC. Some possibly re-used from previous animations.

I've only played the game for a week and I sort of made this journey but when I actually wanted to move to Stormwind, all I had to do was get a boat from the place you go by Griffin from Darnassus (I haven't learnt all the locations yet clearly).which took me straight to Stormwind. I read a guide telling me I had to go through places like Wetlands but I never did. I assume the journey is different to what it had been.

My husband made the same comment (he's played wow since he was a kid but I only started about a month ago) and we were both confused by the hippogryph flight pathing because I knew there was a boat at one time and now it's a straight up portal but we didn't know that you used to have to fly on those even well before that!

If you played Retail (and I believe WotLK Classic too), than the boat takes you to Stormwind harbor. In Classic tho, Stormwind harbor doesn’t exist and you need to take the boat in Darkshore to go to Menethil harbor in Wetlands.

the incredibly attention to detail and animation of certain game-engine/loading characteristics (like the tiny lag stutter you usually experience when entering major parts of stormwind at 33:49) makes this piece of work absolutely phenomenal. haven't played in a decade but this sure brought back some incredible memories. also the premise of the actual video is absolutely hilarious -for any non-veteran WoW Players, when powerleveling a new character, it was commonplace to run to the human starting zone to level your character, as it was the quickest leveling zone and had the least painful quests. it was generally faster to make the run ALL the way to Elwynn (then run thru Goldshire after the starter) then try to follow the leveling path in Teldrassil). incredibly well done.

See this is the magic that vanilla had. The night elves were new to the alliance, so they felt a little disconnected from the main hubs of the alliance. Could they have added a portal between darn and sw? Sure they could have and it would have been convenient but it wouldn't make sense lore wise and would trivialize that feeling of the night elves home being from across the world.

Its been about 2 years since this came out, but dang it still hits just as hard, and this time I am still actively playing WoW and not just "dang I wish WoW was as good as it used to be". There really is just something about sitting back and reminiscing about an old time, like an old friend who you didn't get to say goodbye to properly that last time. Or like visiting an old building you volunteered at a lot, your memories remind you of all the fun times you had, even if things have changed. For me its mostly a case of when I started playing WoW I was a child and would play just an hour or 2 a day at most while I mostly played outside with my friends I was as happy as could be. But now I've gotten older, adult responsibilities are a thing, and the a depression spell years back forever changed me, hardened my heart, or at least made it more fearful. And so while I still enjoy things a lot, hell I have a ton of fun with my own projects, Art, animation, game making, insert other things I forget I do. There is always that weight in the back of my soul and the enjoyment just doesnt last like memories of old, like whats brought up by this video, do. But the old memories always inspire me to make more, because while I don't get the same enjoyment out of games as I used to, my projects are always a highlight to my life these days even if they are hardwork and take a while for me to see what I have done.
