Charlie is oddly lucky in this scenario too. It's very rare that your parent knows exactly what you are going through, but Darren does. And he can give that empathy and the proper support that Charlie needs.

Usually when I see mental health storylines cropping up in soaps, I can empathise with the characters but mostly had the privilege of not directly relating or connecting to them.Seeing the way this storyline has gone with Charlie has affected me much more than I expected, as I've been struggling with anxiety and possibly depression. Thank you to the actors, writers and the whole team that crafted these scenes. I'm only one person but Charlie's experience has given me some food for thought and perhaps it would be worth my while look into options to help work through this. I don't think I would have gotten a wake up call like this otherwise

Phoenix coming out while helping Charlie was a phenomenal move from the writers. It shows that coming out is just a normal thing and isn't the stereotypical big thing that has become the "norm" in media. It also didn't undermine Charlie's storyline or his feelings, it was a beautiful scene and stood out to me.

I hope he gets some form of treatment. Too many have died because they couldn’t handle and suffered in silence. He needs to get help asap, this could be more than just mental health issues as well. He has been on a downward spiral for awhile and shouldn’t put off getting treatment.

Absolutely superb. Yes it hurts that Charlie never got to know his Bio Dad. But Darren has been a loving Father to Charlie. And sometimes that has to be good enough.

I absolutely love this storyline. Its done so well and these actors have really proven themselfs! Their acting is incredible! I went if hollyoaks becuase it was just getting so clingy but this has changed my mind! Well done! Love it. It reminds me a lot of newts story line and that qas my most favorite!

As someone who has experienced and experiencing similarly to Charlie this has hit a nerve every time I watch a clip Charlie spills out how he feels I start crying because I know that feeling being alone or feeling like it too not having the tools to fix myself I’m glad they are showing this situation it shows a lot of people have this and some don’t get the help they need and actually do end things

Oh my OA I so loved that scene to when Charlie told his Uncle that he loved him I so loved it. It’s so amazing that he finally opened up to him about he’s feeling I know how it feels to wanting to commit suicide i’ve tried it twice but couldn’t do it. This whole scene was so emotional I’m still crying I really hope now Charlie will get help and also that when Shing Lin finds out about this next week she too will be with him every step of the way. I also can’t wait to see what Phoenix is going to be like in their new name I believe they need another storyline as well they’re really amazing. 😊

9 years ago when I was 19 I became very depressed and had suicidal thoughts. I attempted suicide a few times but could never bring myself to go through with it. Sometimes things become so hard and you feel like there is no hope and you can’t cope. I dealt with it on my own and just recently I started telling people of me attempting suicide and suffering with ptsd, anxiety ocd, depression and many other stuff. I don’t wanna go into too much detail but the only way I could cope was emotionally torturing myself I know it sounds sick but I needed to feel something that was caused by myself and not other people. Things have changed now, I have changed a lot. I’m not the same person I used to be as I’m stronger cause I got through it. If it wasn’t for my dog and my nieces and nephews I would not have probably made it through. My Mom was the one I first told about these things, I don’t open up to people but I had to, to my mother. She passed away just in March there and I miss her so much but I’m being strong cause I need to be there for everyone. I’ve being doing better now I was in a very bad place but I’ve being to the doctor, being walking my dog and started an online course to help me think more positive of myself and feel happier.

Off subject but i guess Brooke is not only non binary but now their transitioning into a guy. I had to look it up and its true in real life. I just read they already had their name changed on the wiki amd it says Phoenix Hathaway. I hope now they can be themselves and feel happy. But i also hope they can help support Charlie as well
