Thanks Patrick! I've done doors on the table saw for years and I like that method but it's slow when you have many to make at once. I definitely recommend the router in that case.

Nice! the only thing I would have done differently is add a notched out drawer instead of the false front, I've seen some vanities do that and I honestly think it's worth the extra effort, you can section off the drawer into two side compartments and one middle one on the inside to make it slightly less awkward, might as well for more storage space imo

Great Video. Really enjoying the channel. I always see use the router table for these which is great. Would be cool to see you make one of the faceplates using the table saw as you stated was possible. you using what appears to be a custom router table as well. I went to your tools page and lists all the pieces ( fyi..some not made anymore) but it seems to be missing the actual table? i am newbie to this so maybe i am missing how they all come together to make it. thanks for the great content !

Excellent video. I'm just about to redo our bath vanity because my grandson poured water in the cabinet and swelled it all up. Oddly enough, I never did swell up his butt for doing that...I guess I was thinking about all the new wood working tools I was going to have to get to build another one. This will be my first wood project ever.

I got tired just watching all this work that you did. Came to the conclusion that spending $1k on a prefab and preassembled vanity 5/6ft-wide with quartz countertop and undermount sink, delivered to my home, is indeed a great deal. Also, I've noticed the gaps between the countertop and the walls... Although you sealed with silicone caulk the bottom of the sink, water is smart and will find these gaps in its eternal race to the bottom. That's the obvious reason for the back and side splashes in the old counter. Hopefully, this is a bath that doesn't see much use. It looks great - pretty and trendy. Good job and good video!

Was the orange-peel texture on your doors/drawers purposeful or was the paint not thinned properly for your sprayer/tip size? P.S. I like the final look overall.
@MWAWoodworks

Due probably to spraying too close to the work piece. I do that sometimes.

I like it. How did you handle the grain when you painted the cabinet frame? It looks like oak so is probably grainier that the maple. Is grainier a word?
@MWAWoodworks
@MWAWoodworks 2 жыл бұрын
The fronts are all maple so no issues. The face frame was oak but I designed the cabinet fronts so there's basically no way to see the face frame unless you open a drawer. I didn't worry about filling the grain of the face frame. The dark colored paint and the relatively low light of a bathroom makes it so you can't really see any grain detail unless you shine a light directly into it
@ginoasci2876
@ginoasci2876 2 жыл бұрын
grainier can be used if you rub the oak with sone wheat, or oatmeal, or rye bread. no problem

Nice job. Lots of haters on the look but haters gonna hate. FYI Concrete doesn't need air circulation to cure. One thing I might have done different on the shiplap is nail it where the next board covers it but maybe that wasn't possible with the product you used. These projects are so satisfying, hopefully I get the time to do mine soon.
@MWAWoodworks
@MWAWoodworks 2 жыл бұрын
This particular concrete mix requires demolding after 1-2 days and allowing to finish curing outside of the mold. The issue you can run into with nailing shiplap at the tongue is that the pine boards split really easily there. Plus the nail marks are part of the rustic feel of shiplap.

the shop is great, you’re great, i love your tools, the workmanship is great, the cabinets are great, the only thing i personally have something against are the pocket holes. even thought they are very handy, there’s something about that joinery method that rubs me the wrong way. i think i convinced myself that it’s cheesy joinery, and it’s going to come apart at some point. anyway, it all looks great, nice job. i wonder why the rest of the world doesn’t do woodworking, it’s the only thing we should be doing. why would you want to be anything else lololol have a cousin that’s a CPA…..how gross is that. paperwork and numbers all day. you can’t use a jointer, or a table saw, or a router. Jesus Christ knew where it was at !

I don’t I just moved and the cabinets are nice and solid wood but someone painted the front of the cabinets and they did not know what they were doing so we have to pay someone to replace the cabinets, I don’t want to replace them, my husband doesn’t not know how to do this kind of work so I thought maybe it’ll be cheaper to pay someone to reface them instead of replacing the whole thing ??? Idk 🤷🏻‍♀️ what it’s the most economic way to fix the problem if we have to hire someone to help us with this issue ?

Your original bath was awesome. Now you have what MOST would love. Sad indeed. But the worst thing is that stupid sink. It is as ugly as a "boar" hog, IMHO. Others will love it. To each own. Finally, I believe that some time in the future, soon or later, somebody is going to tear that sink loaded "modern ugly" bathroom and bring it back the way it was. And they will say, "Who in the pluperfect hallelujah put that beast in there; huh? Betcha a steak dinner. Time will tell. Again, "To each his own".

Well this is my own home and my wife wanted that "boar ugly" sink. So if anyone tears it out it will be me in 20 years when she wants me to do something else 😂😂😂

I guess I'm one of the idiots who prefers the new look. I would suggest that using iconoclasm as some sort of value metric to suggest it's "sad" that people like something you don't is putting too much weight on something completely asinine. But to each their own. Great job, Matt!

Yes, trends come and go. You can wait out the cycle, as I did with my white kitchen cabinets installed in the mid 90's, that were the laugh of town 15 year ago and now are hot again, OR... if you have the money (or simply the energy and will, as shown in this video), you may choose to keep up with the ever-changing design trends, in order to have a house you're always proud to show. It's just a personal choice. But to say that the original bath was "awesome"... yes, it was - back in the 1980's.
