This interview makes me actually want to bully J.K. Rowling. Something about feeling no sympathy for one of the richest women to ever live that chooses to pick a fight with people that could never pose a statistically significant threat of any kind. There just aren't enough trans people to do literally anything to any other group of people.
@aethellstan Жыл бұрын
@@HelloThere-xx1ct have you actually read anything she has written about this issue? she has said absolutely nothing derogatory about transgender people what she has said is that women are women and their rights should be defended as well as transgendered people but not one at the expense of the other. That's it. and people who are defending trans rights are jumping on the bandwagon to attack her for it.

@Mr. Mackey You are part of the problem. The only thing trans people want is to be treated equally. Not name calling, calling them crossdressers and whatnot. They are literally transitioning. I am so open to listening to this podcast and I hope everyone listens to it, and keeps an open mind doing so. What you said about Apple kind of shows me where your mind is at and it had nothing to do with the conversation. Apple isn't the reason we have social media.

He never ending probing about the ult right boogie man and forcing JKR to join in to maintain credibility, is the strawman. JKR's positions are the same as the vast majority of the disagreement from everyone. The difference, JKR's position can be expressed in all it's forms openly on the right. The right is having that debate openly the left is demanding obedience. She bring bias, she voices loudly bias and even struggles with "If violence is acceptable to force your ideas." You are being fooled by production and not hearing the words, I think. Did you see who the hyphenated Roper cited as the fact checker? Not biased, wow.

That’s not a good thing, in this situation. It’s not good to give equal treatment to both oppressor and oppressed, and Megan clearly doesn’t get this. I don’t think she has ill intentions, but she’s valuing dispassionate conversation over all else and that’s bad when we’re trying to take people’s rights away.

@@yolandaponkers1581 I am no feminist but have found great joy in the company of a few. Having said that I need to point out; The only right that have been infringed on are woman as a whole. This new truth of an invented protected class of these other genders with the chaos of how they interact in public life is the offender here. They is no oppression other than normal social boundaries that most civilizations have up to now agreed on. Men do not have babies or periods and any self respecting man does not compete with woman professionally in physical sports and those that do should be rightly ridiculed. These ideas are pushed then argued through false equivalence designed to dupe, confuse and divide. Today's problems are inherited doppelgangers. Self-righteousness has always been with us. What's different now is the ability to project it around the world driven by corporate algorithms that monetize information and outrage. The lack of gate-keeping has been both a bane and a boon to free speech and society. Yet, many let corporations and "non-profits" that practice the very thing they claim to fight do their thinking for them. Critical thinking is a skill that does not occur naturally, it has to be developed. But it's not taught because a society that can think for itself and question agenda-driven mis-/disinformation being fed to it cannot be easily controlled. This comment section isn't big enough to truly delve into the complexities of this wrangled mess, and too many people barely read more than a sentence or two, if they make it past the misdirecting headlines. Outrage is so easy. Thinking it hard.

Certainty doesn’t have to be an issue: I’m very confident that the sun will rise in the east early tomorrow morning. The trick is to know what level of confidence is reasonable in a given concrete situation. This Radio Times interviewer is a bit of a berk. Yes, Twitter is a limited platform on which it's hard to make a nuanced argument. But why would you expect it to be otherwise? This conversation has been happening for years. Twitter is the bite-sized introduction to the topic. You can seek out more long-form, nuanced versions of the argument if you're interested. But I'm not sure many people want to. Rowling wrote an entire essay setting out her position, and most people simply ignored it, in favour of the Chinese whispers interpretation of what she said. It comes from laziness and the same thing is at work here. If you want to know what JKR thinks, in a more nuanced way than Twitter, stop pushing for soundbites and summations and listen to the podcast. Although I must admit, I find it hard to believe men when they claim to need women's objections to this ideology explained to them. It's not at all difficult to understand, especially when things like the Nicola Sturgeon / "Isla Bryant" fiasco are still fresh in all our memories.
