Wow. That look like a great time with great people. Cooking with cast iron is the best. Not to mention you can do it in the woods over a fire. What more could someone ask for.

Thank you so much for coming to the hang! Your contribution made an already awesome event just that much better. I just hope you got enough to eat! :) I'd love to see you come back even if just for the chance to hang with everyone. I am disappointed though, I was hoping to win that awesome wool blanket!

Hey Dan you should consider having an event like this from State to State and at end of year have a National cook off with the winners. Would get to test out a lot of diverse and different types of food from all over the US. Maybe hold the finals at your facility in PA. Would be a wonderful National event for the area and around the home base of Schuylkill County . Everyone could visit Yuenglings while attending your event. Oh and don’t forget Knobles Grove……can handle a huge crowd there…

This event is AMAZING!!! Great cast iron cooking, awesome people. If you have an issue with your gear you would be hard pressed to find someone who WOULD NOT drop what they were doing and help you. First year for the cast iron cookoff... and what an totally awesome idea this was! I walked around looking at everyones dishes and talking to the people making them. The Coalcracker Bushcraft cast iron cooking tutorial was very informative and inspiring! So much so I wound up going to the store and buying a 12" pan and accessories! Now all I have to do is figure out how to dress up my Spaghettios and pull down one of those major awards!

Looks like a really fun time. You guys had an almost impossible task with the amount of food and the number of starving people in line. I’ve seen competitions where those who wanted to compete picked up small disposable numbered bowls from the organizers. Then each had a portion of food to be judged and were submitted to the judges. That way people could eat while the food was being judged. There’s fine details to be hashed out but you get the idea.

sometimes I think when shooting solo your presentation and gestures can feel a bit forced for the camera (I know we're all told to exaggerate for the camera) but its lovely to see you working with other people live! you are naturally good on camera just being yourself with other people - no editing needed! you are so friendly and funny! this is definitely a strong point of yours and a talent far fewer people have than solo filming and editing their own scripts would love to see more content like this :)

Hey there bud! This was great!! Always great to see families out campin and havin good times! Eating well too if course! I had a question. I’m a firebox woodstove guy as opposed to a big campfire. Id like to integrate some dutch oven action into my firebox repertoire. Do you have a dutch oven brand you prefer over another? Especially for the firebox stove application? Just curious. Thanks so much sir. Take care. Paul

Not one wok!?!? Sad! I love mine! I have an 14" wok that's about 4 1/2" deep. It's what I use to cook breakfast in when my wife and I go camping. It actually tastes better than when I use my 16" pan. It's nothing special, just potatoes, ham chunks, eggs. mushrooms, onions and some seasoning, with a little cheese on top of it. But man, it is good!! And a little FYI for those that are DIABETIC. My wife is 50, disabled and diabetic and after this meal, she can go on a moderate hike or walk a festival most of the day, without her sugar crashing.

This was great episode! I think it brings up a good subject you might want to cover in the future (for folks like me). How do you deal with food adversity? I grew up loving Bambi and thumper, I want to hunt and eat rabbit or even fish. In a survival situation, people die because they refuse to eat what is provided. I want to hunt and eat thumper, and more importantly how do I get my grandson to want to eat thumper and bambi?-

A beer? 😂 Looks like a blast, and made me very hungry. Few months ago about 50 of us took to the desert on the border of California and Nevada in the middle of nowhere by no one. Had a kitchen, and several DJs out there lol, so a bit different. But I really enjoy making it with what we brought and what people can come up with. Especially backpacking

Fortunately, your barely adequate beard is enough to catch some of that delicious food, to save for later. Unfortunately, your face is so difficult to look at that your barely articulate food judgments and sniveling complaints can be heard. How you captured that most excellent wife is an Einstein question/answer. Dutch oven cook offs are soooo much fun. Thanks for sharing this, pure enjoyment. I truly appreciate your most excellent, short lectures. Would like to hear from your son more often. What a great kid! Kentucky
