I built a camping yurt partially based on this yurt last year, all Home Depot parts and materials. The thing works amazing. The frame was actually very inexpensive to build. The fabric was the hardest part.

Jaredj631, did you work from any dimensions or plans, or did you figure it out as you went?
@jaredj6314 ай бұрын
@@douglasmaccullagh7865 I figured it out as I went/did a lot of math and planning ahead of time. It’s a 14 foot yurt specifically for camping so it’s very lightweight made out of cedar. I used cedar fence slats for the walls and cedar clear grade for the roof ring and roof rafters. It’s a pretty unique design because it has very few slats and no door. The slats are wide enough apart that you just line the door on the fabric up with one of the diamond shaped openings. The most expensive part was actually silicone, I didn’t want to use waxed cotton fabric because it’s extremely flammable and my family‘s gonna be sleeping in the thing so we followed tutorial from nighthawk in lights channel and siliconized cotton painting tarps. My wife dyed the fabric and emerald green blue pattern. And we use several natural ropes told it all together. However, the wall slats are held together with nut and bolt hardware rather than string. This helps a lot with portability and sturdiness. It also makes it very easy to change slats if one breaks, however only one has broken due to a knot in the material, but we kind of expect them to break every once in a while given the thin cedar material it’s made from. I will be posting a video on my channel about this yurt in the next few months. Next time I go camping I plan on making a video about it.

Me too and I love my yurt. I basically used a tablesaw to rip a bunch of 2X4s from Home Depot into the shapes needed. If you are like me, I feel that the yurt is way better than a camping tent.

After being a dad and a grandfather for the past 25 years i have to say I've become an expert at improvised repairs over the years and that's what this reminds me of 100 percent. You do what you gotta do with the time you have available and move on !

WOW! I’m impressed, Dan. Not only are you going to be reusing the pine branches (fat wood) but you piled those branches onto a tarp for easy move ability!!

A good repair !you might think about next time using a haywire klamper with stainless steel wire so it doesn’t rust mark on your canvas. You could even make one out of a clevis and a bolt ground down or forged flat with notch it might be fun to make. You could fix a broken broom handle with that thing and it would be rock solid tight!

I made a yurt very much like yours using the plans in a book called Complete Yurt Handbook by Paul King. I love my yurt and so I understand why you like yours too. Thanks for the great video!

Hey Dan! Just a quick question: if I were to visit the store in person, is everything that’s in the online store available in person too?

This makes me want one. I follow the channel here often. Just looks cooler than a teepee especially at 6'2" tall. I recently bought an Anker 10' ft. usbc cable and dual usbc block from walmart. It's not bad. Just have to keep an eye on the phone and cord connection. About to try the One 20" wide solar panel. The Blavor solar bank 2usb, 1 usbc, 1 usb mini, flashlight (sos, strobe), compass, 3 mode lamp for $60 has been okay but could use some quality control

A piece of tear aid and the hole will be sealed. Used it on my popup roof. Heck it can be used on vinyl siding.

Saw an episode of Homestead Rescue where a yurt was getting mold so they tore it down and built a yurt shaped log cabin. It seems like it would require less maintenance than a round tent. Ever consider putting that instead of canvas and lattice?

Would there ever be any chance of you guys making a larger version of the t6 zero? Nothing insane, just like 9x7ish or something instead of the 7x5ish it already is? Just like a bigger brother with more shelter coverage but still under 1lb?

Dan, do you have any drawings or dimensions I could use to try to build a yurt?
