A very hard subject, beautifully simplified here, showing how just one man changed the life of another by offering friendship... I love the "snowball effect" that a random act of kindness can initiate. Very excellent actors and direction, + a very happy ending, "a hand up, not a hand out......" Sometimes it works! Honor to all veterans!

Its a shame on Britain that any service men are not properly and suficiently supported . Excellent film showing the value to man of his dog ,and the general vexacious manner in which home goverment workers look upon the impoverished less fortunate in our country . Look kindly upon the homeless ,there for the sake of God ...........

My grandad fought in the second world war,my great grandad fought and died in the first world war,and my brother and my son were the second gulf war and were in active combat. they never talk what they did or what they witnessed, but deep down i know what they did will live with them for the rest of their lives.a very touching and moving story that brought back memories of my own.

I saw a lot about myself and my attitude in this movie. Glad i watched it now. I even had a dog named sally that i had to have put to sleep. The hard part is accepting help when you have been so independent all your life, getting irritated because someone holds a door open for you or helps you fill your bag at the till. Thanks for sharing

I spent nearly 7 years homeless. I served back then. To avoid the junkies and the piss heads i had a bivvy in some woods . You couldn't tell I was homeless and even had beggars asking me for spare change. By using what I had learned and my wits , I kept clean and smart and lived within in means . My pride didn't allow me to beg . I had a stove and mess tins , and was even under a groundsheet during the beast front the east. It wasn't all easy. Due to PTSD I tried to top myself a couple of time's when I thought after trying so hard and getting nowhere " Well, if nobody else cares - Why should I....". Arson by an ex burnt me out of my boat and I had just been signed of sick by my doctor.... No job . No home... No Help... What would you do ?

Such a wonderful movie. Surely all the ex-soldiers sleeping rough would have army pensions owed to them. Why the MoD help to get IDs and bank accounts so they can be properly supported?

Mmmmmm! You have to prove that your disabilities are service related. Which is not easy. And if government departments are like insurance companies. They won’t give out if they don’t have to.

It would have been far cheaper for Britain to arrange the emmigration of the few remaining Falklanders to Britain or other countries which wanted them than to have the loss of life and maimings on either side.

We look after illegal immigrants but our elderly and service personnel left to sleep rough or loose all savings 😢😢😢
