Nice . The worth is in the memories . And those can be priceless . I remember the old old days when my pal was a DJ , we carried around heavy box loads of the LPs .😀😀 . As one of your subs sugested , the sleeves should be gotten rid of . Moisture ? Static ? Some classic songs and performers . Some of my faves who i still listern to. Del Shannons Runaway was used in the crime drama Crime Story . Thanks to your mom, you for the show and tell .

"Bird Dog" was the "A" side of the 78. It was the first rock and roll record I can recall hearing on a juke box in a diner in the late 1950s!

Nice posting. Great assortment of 78's.. That autographed Everly Brother booklet may be worth some money, since Don and Phil have now passed away.. Everlys had several double-sided hits like the Beatles. Bird Dog/Devoted to You is from 1958; it was preceded by All I Have to Do/Claudette. Canadian Paul Anka with a UK # 3 hit in 1958. Elvis -- A Fool Such as I was the A-side, # 1 in UK, 1958. Your mum must have been a big Everlys and Elvis fan. Cliff Richard debut hit; he didn't gain a foothold in the US until the 1970's. Marty Wilde was strictly a UK star, covering Richie Valens' Donna from 1959. Value of the 78's would be based on their condition. No cracks, no chips, no warping. In their original sleeves is a plus. I suggest you store the Elvis photo with the Elvis lp. German songwrter/band leader -- Swinin Safari was one of his many hits, 1962. Not so fast with the Chris Barber/Acker Bilk lp; they both were responsible for the popular trad jazz movement in the UK Richard Anthony was an Egyptian-born French singer. His music director, Ivor Raymonde, also worked with Dusty Springfield and Susan Maughan.

Thanks so much for all that detailed information. I asked my mum about when she met the Everly Brothers. It was at the stage door at the Plymouth Pavillions. She was with her childhood friend, also a big fan. She said Phil gave her a kiss on the cheek 🙂

Hi 👋 How wonderful that you have your mother's music items. That Everly Brothers book is in very good condition, and with a signature by one of them in it makes it of value to a collector

I asked her about it recently and she said they waited by the stage door for half an hour, got the signatures, a cuddle and a kiss on the cheek!

Hi - nice collection, but I would take all those plastic sleeves and throw them away. They will ruin the sleeves and records as the plastic bleeds onto the cover and eventually onto the records. You can replace them with low cost lighter sleeves from Amazon etc.
@JulesBurt Жыл бұрын
Yes, took them off straight after👍

Nice collection. Maybe the sleeves are PVC? They can go brittle and discolored. Marty Wilde is great, father of Kim Wilde who is still touring.

Are those PVC covers the same ones they put picture vinyl albums into? I have begun putting the picture records into soft rice paper sleeves from Vinyl Styl, which are just like the MoFi ones...

The Classical recording of John Ogden might be worth something as he was a very talented British Pianist - who I believe suffered with his mental health - but was extremely gifted. In 1962 (mentioned on one of my Classical CD Notes) he won alongside Ashkenazy the Moscow Tchaikovsky Piano Competition

The reason these record outer covers look wrinkled is because they are PVC which in time sweats under heat and can actually do damage to the records this is why he had trouble getting some of them Eps out.

Richard Anthony was a very popular French singer in the sixties and early seventies. Great voice. Never knew that he sold in the UK. Same for Sacha Distel, a golden voice, a shiny smile, a very handsome guy. I kind of remember that he had a short affair with Brigitte Bardot.
