I was beaten by Opposition MP: Ramanathan Archchuna

Jaffna District independenet MP Ramanathan Archchuna said he was beaten by SJB MP Sujith Sanjaya Perera when he visited the Opposition Leader's office.
The MP, while raising a point of order, said he visited the Opposition Leader's office to inquire into the time allocated for him for his Parliament speech.
"If such things happen inside Parliament premises, how can we move on the streets?' he questioned.
The presiding member requested the MP to lodge a complaint with the Speaker regarding the matter.
Meanwhile, SJB MP Nalin Bandara said MP Archchuna behaved in an indecent manner and uttered unparliamentary words before the Secretary of the Opposition Leaders' office.
"We have complained to the Speaker about this," he said.
MP Sujith Sanjaya Perera said he denies the allegations and it was MP Archchuna who had threatened him.

From the very first day Archuna creating unnecessary problems inside the Parliament. These problems are nothing to do with Tamil people, those are his own psychological problems. He is going to be a continuous disturbance at Parliament sittings. Shame for our tamil people. Many tamil people are now thinking why we vote for Archuna.

If there is any truth to the claims that the Member of Parliament (MP) in question has been physically attacked, the police must be immediately notified, and the necessary evidence should be presented for a thorough investigation. If the allegations are confirmed, the responsible MP should be held accountable and prosecuted accordingly. On the other hand, if Ramanathan has violated any parliamentary rules or protocols, he should face the appropriate disciplinary actions, but this should not extend to penalizing him simply for exercising his right to express his views. Freedom of speech and constructive debate are cornerstones of any democratic institution and should be respected. This situation presents a significant opportunity for the National People's Power (NPP) to demonstrate its commitment to upholding civilised parliamentary procedures. If the NPP is truly dedicated to cleaning up Parliament, this is the moment to prove that their vision for a more respectful, transparent, and accountable legislature can become a reality. The manner in which this matter is handled will reflect the NPP's ability to implement the reforms they have promised.

Well said. I too agree with you sir. Dr. Arjuna’s behaviour is very bad recently in the parliament. All Tamil people are asking forgiveness on behalf of Dr. Arjuna’s behaviour. Tamil people trusted Dr. Arjuna but he is not a person who he was.
