I was Diagnosed with 2 Cancers within TWO Months: Sarah's Story | The Patient Story

Sarah McDonald was diagnosed with incurable salivary gland cancer after she found a lump in the floor of her mouth, after a deep teeth cleaning.
This led Sarah to reexamine a lump she discovered in her breast 6-years earlier, which doctors had said wasn’t cancerous. She was then diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer two months later.
Her treatments led to the heartbreaking news that she may not be able to get pregnant. But after her doctor discovered new research about pausing treatment for IVF, Sarah delivered her daughter at age 48.
In this conversation, she shares her incredible cancer journey and how she now strives to give cancer patients a voice, to help them feel seen, and to get people to talk more about cancer.

The day of my biopsy, the nurse sat with me while the doctor left the room. She told me, "you are your own best advocate." That stuck with me. She worked in the C world and i was just beginning the C world. I have spoken up at pivotal times since. She was so helpful! Good advice!

Compassionate, sharing. Thank you so much. Thinking of the movie (Terms of Endearment )with Debra Winger had cancer, and everyone at a party were whispering. Then at the party she said quite boldly “I have cancer “. Unfortunately I was also someone who thought if you just changed your diet or your environment you wouldn’t get cancer or PAIN. I missed the opportunity to be caring. Pain is a topic in my family that I cannot share my trials. However Thank God I can with my partner & a few friends. Proverbs 27:17 💗
