I'm binge watching you and your dad and mom I assume everything auto. My 25 year old son has mild autism and it doesn't define you or the beautiful family you have...❤❤❤❤

It’s a big part of who I am & the diagnosis explained a lot about the struggles I experienced all through my life. My friends and family have been extremely accommodating, which made the transition to life after diagnosis much easier! I’m so glad I pursued it. I’m glad you’re enjoying both channels & thanks so much for watching!

Did you face a lot of resistance when you told people?

Believe it or not, my husband was probably one of the most resistant people I told because he has an autistic step brother and I present differently from him. Once I explained how autistic traits can differ not only person to person but especially between socialized males & socialized females and explained how my symptoms matched the criteria, he came around. We both had a lot of stereotypical beliefs about autism and it took a lot of research and listening to the stories of other autistic people to deconstruct those beliefs. He started following a lot of autistic creators and watching their content on the daily. Other people I’ve told have sometimes hit me with the “wow, I never would have guessed! You don’t look autistic at all!” However my closest friends and family all said “yep, that makes sense.” I’ve only recently announced to my extended friends and family that I was diagnosed and so far I’ve gotten a lot of support and had other friends also disclose their diagnoses to me.
