@@AlexMeyersVids you really know how to paint a picture. I'm 15 and being forced to move out when I'm 16. (For reasons ide rather not explain) and I haven't thought much about what to do. I have a part time job at a caring facility it's about 2 hours a day. (Considering school that's about all I can do). And I've always had this dream of a lavish lifestyle. (Like you explained in part 1). But at this point it's come clear to me that's not going to happen any time soon. where I'm from it's very hard to get good paying jobs. (Especially at my age). Ive been studying Hebrew since I was 12. It was something I needed to do to keep my mind off everything I was going through. That's about where I am now. I know a hulting STOP. Bro get our of your country. Travel the world or a country you always wanted to visit. Stay there for a year and you will see the effect it has on you. I can only encourage you to pack your things save some money for a plane ticket and a visa and go somewhere to work there. It has been the best time of my life and I know how nervous you are before you do something like this. You will realize that you can always get through hard moments in your life. It is had to condense these kinds of experiences into words. All I can say is pack your things and live somewhere you have never been before. You won't regret it you just need to step over your own shadow!
@reeflarkin19196 жыл бұрын
pudding, you're assuming he has the money to do that. people who travel are so privileged and not everyone enjoys it anyway, I personally hate travel ( of course, there's things I like about it but it's mostly tiring and pointless to me). Hookat- I would suggest you figure out what you want- whether that's a six figure salary or whether that's a specific job or maybe it's to have a self sufficient property. Most jobs need training and that can be expensive, keep applying for everything- refine your CV&cover letter. I was a lifeguard, then a swim teacher because they both need $200 quals so that thins the pool. I'm now training to be a high school teacher because I got a scholarship with a guaranteed job (somewhere 'high demand'). Military and police are good options for places that will train you. I personally just find it easier having a fixed and clear path. This guy was very, very lucky, you can't plan for opportunities like that. If that's really what you want then get into IT/business. and do not do a qualification (whether it's a BA. or a short course) without a specific career in mind. Know what you need to do to get where you want to be and do it. Good luck :)

Many people had it worse than me, for sure, but I'm glad I went through it
@PuddingXXL7 жыл бұрын
Try to talk to these homeless people. You will see that they have been through much worse often enough. And society keeps them in their isolated bubbles. Gather the courage to walk up to a homeless dude or girl and just sit and eat with him/her. I met a 19 years old girl who was heroin addicted because her mother would take it throughout her pregnancy with her. She continued to give her the needle while she was sleeping so that she would shut up as a child. I went to a cafe with her talked to her. Let her shower and sleep at my home and went to the job center with her the next day. It is terrible how people reacted, wouldn't I have been with her, the staff would have kicked her out and would not even give her a chance to change her life around. Everybody needs a helping hand sometimes. Be it if it is possible for you!

You downplay yourself a bit in this vid but honestly, the reason you got that job that you think you shouldn't have gotten was because of your work ethic. I assume they saw that you'd learned Japanese and kanji in the space of two years, that you'd passed the exams, that you'd then moved on to IT and were applying yourself there? So they could see from the work you'd put in so far that you were a quick learner and that you really did have a very strong work ethic when you applied yourself. Those are very important things to employers (I assume important to Japanese employers too) sometimes having X Y Z experience doesn't count for much if the person with that experience never went anywhere with it. Meanwhile, once you get your foot in the door, you start building a good resume, which it really sounds like you've done. Amazing story tbh.
@RialuCaos6 жыл бұрын
Agreed. It's very difficult for many people to focus so single-mindedly on learning something like Japanese, especially in this modern age of distractions. To pass the N1 after two years is amazing.
@agustusdubyah50116 жыл бұрын
Alot of people really underestimate the value of the skills that build-upon from job to job. I live in North America and feel that people focus more on the money a job will offer them than the skills or experience a job can offer. Skills and experience hold more value than money because skills stay with you forever while money can disappear pretty quickly.
@justinemot22824 жыл бұрын
@@agustusdubyah5011 I also think that people also focus too much on certifications. Sometimes a company needs someone to do the job but HR won't even consider people who can do it unless that person has a piece of paper. And sometimes they waste time on people with lots of certifications that are not actually interested in doing the job or don't know how to apply their skills. So there should be another skill to success - luck.
@caremell3 жыл бұрын
No it is not. You dont get a job just because you are a hard worker. There are so many people you wouldnt know the reason taking jobs or making much more money or way much hard working then you or qualified doesnt matter. You get the job cause fate ,the most complicated yet just algorithm ever believe or not, decides and you chose to be there on that day.

I'm proud of you. I am a new subscriber and I really enjoy your animation videos and I was going back to your early stuff and came across this video. Anyway, you are great and...well ya, I guess I am just proud of you for not giving up, your pride and determination motivated you. Thank you for sharing your story.

That "Huehue" at 10:42 or so caught me completely offguard, I burst out laughing. Glad everything worked out for you! My life would be a lot more boring without your videos!

can you make a video speaking in Japanese?
@Nekotico6 жыл бұрын
why?, most of the public here (including me) will not get a shit about what he is talking X'D....
@MissInformer6 жыл бұрын
from what little i have heard of him speaking in Japanese it is pretty accurate to how we talk in actual conversation. It would be funny, but his fan base is largely English speaking and it would be very weird.

He could put subs. Most English anime watchers use subs, including me

Naomi Okpara he could, but why go through the effort for an unknown and probably cringy outcome?

I've been watching your videos on TV shows and I've been quite entertained. Being someone who has always loved Japan though I had to check out the two parts of this story and it's incredible. I'm always fascinated by people who can overcome great obstacles in life. You have a new fan.

I remember reading in the description, a line encouraging the viewers to subscribe so that he reaches 2500 subscribers. And now he is at 2.5 million subscribers. Testament to the fact that hard work gets you anywhere. Keep it up, mate. 👍

This could seriously be a Ted Talk! I loved it! I went to Japan for 2 weeks last summer and I know it sounds trite but it was truly extraordinary. It's so interesting hearing about living there full time as an American.

My father was an alcoholic took all of our money and then went bankrupt and then he went to jail. I was 17 at the time straight out of highschool. It was just me and my mom with no money. I have adhd but I was always a smart kid in school all I ever wanted to do was be a doctor so I was out of highschool no money my dad in jail , with my ADHD( at the time I had no idea I had it , it just got diagnosed) I had no money for college, I bombed on my medschool entrance exam ( well on asia we can go to medschool straight out of highschool) somehow I went to a coaching centre with the little money we had, we moved to a different city and I bombed at my entrance again(my mental health was a wreak then ). Now I would have joined any college at this point but we had no money so I was like let's wait for a year and try again and I did. I never studied up untill then but somehow with my ADHD I studied I managed to get into med schoool. It's been 2 years and medschool is different I can study better now cause I love this so much and now im ok I guess and they just diagnosed me with adhd so I know why I'm the way I am. I hope I can get through this even with my ADHD. Somtimes I wonder what I could have been without the adhd.
