After taking my first drive in the all new 2024 Ford Mustang GT I was really impressed by the base model and all the features it offered from the factory. This 2024 Mustang GT really has all you need to enjoy it without having to spend a crazy amount of money and in today's first drive, you'll see why! If you watch the interview with the engineers they gathered up the younger generation within their company and select people outside. Both gen Z and X and asked what do they really want in a Mustang. I’m not a mustang owner but looking into either S550 and S650. After finally seeing S650, it is clearly better. Using these videos to also help me decide and I’m the all these comments, I’m just confused with why so many S550 owners hate the S650. Only reason I’ve heard is “screens” like they’re really digging hard to find something bad. My guess is, interest rates are so high now, can’t afford to upgrade…so begin the crusade to make your S550 seem like the better one. Am I wrong?

I don't hate the dash as much as I did before I saw it in person. Still don't like it, but not a deal breaker like I thought. If they had just rounded the edges or something instead of it being rectangular, I think more people would like it.

I believe the base model you drove had the 301A package which gives the cloth/vinyl trim seats and heated front seats. I don't think the 300A standard package comes with those features. Not sure how you spec'd yours. I will agree though those were some pretty nice seats for a base model. I was always a firm believer the base was the one to get. The price upgrade to premium wasn't justified in my opinion. If you want leather seats just throw a leather kit in it and it would most likely still be less expensive. The only downside this year is base models don't even get power seats as standard. Not a huge deal for guys who are used to Recaros, but you would think a $45,000-$50,000+ car would at least come with power seats these days.

weight. Ford probably knows that many people will do their own upgrades and don't want the added weight of power seats. I totally understand where you are coming from, though, on the price point and offerings, but it's how Ford does it with the upgraded packaging, I guess.

It’s Space X material. It was called Bleather back in my day. That’s the 301A package adds the nine speaker system. Which is basically Shaker 500. Been in all three variants, I am sold on the base. Dark Horse has the baddest interior

I really cannot see tablets staying part of the interior. The dash of the s550 had style and an even a pulse. The screens glued inside feel like square concrete stepping stones in your face. Cold and dead, it really has no human driving feel at all. Very cold and robotic. Please bring back interior architecture!

I looked at the base version at the dealership. Absolutely hated it. When I placed my special order, I went with a GT premium 10-speed automatic optioned out down all the way down to the magneride suspension. I wanted luxury and track ready. Minus the racing seats. It didn't work for me

Screens needed to be IN the dash. Assuming that they sell well (and anecdotally they seem to be selling) then hopefully in a couple of years Ford will come with a mid-cycle redesign and fix the interior. Questions for your car: no Tremec? No Magnaride? No active exhaust?

I had a 2015 and a 2020 GT. This new car is noticably more refined than the gen 6...brakes, transmission, suspension are much better. I could tell immediately. I honestly think it's a better all around car.

Your the only guy I know who prefers the Getreg MT-82 over the Tremec T-56. Hey, I can appreciate that, and your reasoning behind it. It kind of reminds me of the Tremec T-5 in the Foxbody’s and early SN95’s, it’s one of the smoothest manual transmissions, but as soon as you start putting down more power they’re like glass. Meanwhile you could upgrade to Tremec Tko series transmissions, they are performance oriented, and could hold plenty of power; unfortunately the Tko were notoriously “notchy”. Congratulations on getting the Mach 1 back, and the new S650! I’m really interested to see what you do with the S650, as well as how it performs on the street!

the dilemma that I have is that the upcharge for the premium trim is less then the cost of the performance package. In my mind the premium is a better deal IF the car is a daily driver. Now if you are buying this as a track car or something then I could see the performance package making sense.

Really dislike that digital dash, the screen to the right is fine but the screen for the gauges just feels so lazy. If they had integrated it into the dash like the digital dash for the 2018’s I would be fine but it looks like they just slapped an iPad on there lol. I don't like the Ipads on the dash.. That is the only thing I don't care for but it is a nice step up.. I have an S550 Premium Package in a Manual and love it.. Plenty fast enough for me, What i love most is the Platform and aftermarket for all of the Mustangs.. Very nice.. though I like the look of the S550's better and Not just cause I have one.. I do wish I had auto Rev Matching in my 2017 but I can do it myself for the most part.. It does help save your clutch though.. That is the one thing I did have, just so I don't have to remember to do it.. But to me it's become second nature now to heel toe it. The trick to saving your clutch is to keep your fluids clean.. I will be doing the BBG drain and fill soon.. But I only have 9K miles so it's not quite there..

I absolutely hate the I-Pad gauges... My 2021 Camaro SS 1LE has nice real gauges...The hood has the same vents as my Camaro. I do not like the square line on the hood. It runs straight across the nose of the car.
