Just a quick update!! So far, this theory is holding up!! I was able to do a CLEAN lap of 1: 43.785 🚀🚀. As I am keeping in mind not to (SLIGHTLY) overheat the tires, my laps are getting better and better! Conclusion: PAY ATTENTION TO THE TIRE’S SURFACE TEMPERATURE!

You should start with the fundamentals of FFB. Like, your F meter is red a lot of the time. Maybe you like it that way, ok, but the meter is there for a fundamental reason. To make it easy for you iRacing gives you the option to just select auto to set the FFB levels to be within a functioning range without excessive clipping. So, with better FfB sense you should be able to feel the tires in more detail and not numb out in clipping.

Hahahah I could have sworn I had that setting adjusted, but you're obviously right! The force feedback clipping is clearly visible. I'll make sure I fix that.

I switched to stiffer springs on my brake pedal on my Simagic P1000's and trail braking became so much easier now and increased my times to being top 10 of the grid now. My 2nd thing that made me faster was tire wear, as this video mentioned. I learned to read tire data and focused on keeping my tires in the 180s-90sF temp. This video is 100% legit.

yeah that's my problem, I drive the GT3 cars as if I'm driving a no-downforce car, like the MX5 where you point it in and then sort it out with lots of inputs to create a 4-wheel drift

This is one of the main weak points of iracing for most people. The tires are way too sensitive and overheat way too quickly. You should be able to have a little over/understeer when driving at the limit and still be quick (Though you were still overdoing it a little). IIRC Josef newgarden talked about it on stream. He could "hustle" his IRL car a lot more than he could the iracing car. I'm pretty sure iracing is updating the tire model for most cars, so hopefully they tone that down a bit.

Yep, in iRacing it's really easy to overdo it with the tires. But I'm pretty sure that I was overheating the tires in ACC too! I will have to check at some point. But so far, I am able to go faster in iRacing by keeping this concept in my mind!!

Any temperatures we can shoot for in iracing for GT3's? I've always known I overdrive the car and overheat the tires, but I don't know exactly how not to and how to identify that I have. I think seeing the live temps can actually give you an indication of that, but I'm not sure what exactly I'm shooting for.

From my own research, the tire temp window is between 80c - 100c. Seeing live temps would definitely be helpful, but you can always check to see if you are understeering or oversteering, while you're driving. And if you are, you have overheated tires! And this goes down to the micro level. If you are SLIGHTLY understeering, you have SLIGHTLY overheated fronts. If you are SLIGHTLY oversteering, then you have SLIGHTLY overheated rears.

Generally, in GT3’s, if you’re Understeering or Oversteering, then you are overheating your tires (front or rear, respectively). The problem is that it’s harder and harder to tell when that limit comes when you’re SLIGHTLY understeering or SLIGHTLY oversteering. The only solution I’ve found so far, is to just practice more and get a good FEEL through the force feedback for when you start to feel the oversteer/ understeer kick in. And also try to avoid doing things that will inevitably overheat your tires. Such as, excessive steering, too much braking or too harsh accelerations!! Hope this helps! I’m also trying to find better ways to understand how to react to these micro-inputs, so as soon as I have a breakthrough, I will share it in a future vid!! Best of luck dude🚀🚀

@@DINOzye Not any that I am aware of. But regardless, most of these types of overlays only show the core temps of the tires. Which is good for an overall view of how the temps change throughout a stint. But, IMO, it's the tire's SURFACE temperature that is more important to pay attention to (and I believe it's best if you feel the grip through the force feedback for this one). That's because the Surface temp is much more sensitive (it changes really quickly for you to keep track of it consistently) and will affect the immediate handling of the car. And I don't know how many overlays for Surface temperature exist.

Lol…. There’s no epiphany here! The tire model has always been trash. Iracing forces you to drive one style UNDER DRIVE!!!!!!!!!!! Iracing is the least realistic sim …. Ppl are still not getting it. Hahahaha (BTW) the verbiage you’re looking for is driving (Neutral) which again is unrealistic. All racers in real life say the same thing about the tire model every year and next year it will be the same. Lol

@@scottybevan4108 hahahahhaha. They don’t use it for training as for driving skills. Some will use it because of the laser scanned tracks if they’re not familiar with a location but not from a performance perspective. One thing ppl fail to realize most if not all real racing teams have their own simulators and software programs which makes Iracing look and feel like a toy product. Ppl see that Max Verstappen is the poster boy for sim racing. He uses Iracing as a social club and racing with his team of friends. Over the years there’s countless professional drivers who’ve said that Iracing isn’t close to realistic and that narrative hasn’t changed. I’ve been Sim Racing over 10yrs, Class A in all licenses in Iracing with over 3000 IR in everything except Dirt Oval. After years of so called updates Iracing has basically not changed. Just look at AC and Rfactor2, both are light years better.

Hes actually very right. I have always wondered why they use it, its simply shit, seriously. ACC overall physics are very close, but theres things about ACC that doesnt make sense as well​@scottybevan4108

@@scottybevan4108 professional racers primarily use rFactor Pro or modded AC with their own physics engine at the factory. For F1 they have their own custom set up. For their home set up iracing gives a better racing experience with a big player base. definitely not as realistic as the factory sim, but atleast they can race side by side with people.
