Yep. I've been "delayed" at bass pro for a 45-70 marlin once. They will not hold it, they won't wait, if you aren't instantly ok'd (some God given right) then they say sorry, next. That's why supporting the smaller gun shops is so important. My local shop has no problem calling me when I clear in a few hours or days...or when the govt refuses to respond. They will also refuse to respond for class 3 stuff. I tried to get a silencer, I buy guns, I'm legal but the atf sent a letter saying that I "might" be a prohibited person and so they couldn't ok it...but I wasn't denied! Song and dance b.s. to deny people their rights through backdoor infringement.

I wish you had used Rockwool between floors. As a carpenter, I always insulated ALL walls and ceilings. It makes it so much quieter, and if you want to put a door between floors to regulate the heat, it works so much better. Also, in bathrooms, it is much quieter. It really makes a huge difference. Rockwool is much better than regular pink insulation, too.

Incompetence? Aren’t you glad there are checks to keep the guns out of the wrong hands? Is a one-day delay good cause for whining about government, or do you expect instant gratification? Have you considered that maybe the people that do the checks are totally swamped (especially with all the conspiracy theory BS about the election)? Maybe they’re understaffed? Maybe someone is off sick or taking care of a dying parent? How about thinking positively for a change? All the whining about government and turning your fellow citizens who vote differently into enemies is exactly what the response that Putin, Xi and other fascist dictators want to weaken US democracy.

"I hope it's big enough." If not, you'll make it bigger. So nice of you to create a food plot for the deer and turkeys. Over seeding it, to expanding it. If only the deer knew what you've done to make life better for them. I've seen a lot of videos from around the globe where deer will befriend humans to the point of eating out of their hands and some even step inside the house for treats. After Tribulation the world will be made new. Lions will lay beside sheep, and all of God's creatures will be man's pets. Can you imagine it? Being a loving friend to all animals! I will never tire of giving belly rubs and scratches! But, it's got to get worse, much worse before that happens. I'm glad we have wonderful friends like you that share good things in life. Yes, let's go get that white pine. Looks like a lot of nice lumber in it. I'm glad Hunter is doing well. The interior of the cabin is looking quite nice. You're doing fine work there. Generally when a tree is struck the sap turns to superheated steam and the tree explodes causing it to splinter. Some splinters go into other trees like arrows.

Mike, I would leave that pine standing. It will attract woodpeckers that will eat any bugs in it, especially the pine beetles. I always leave the stump until it is completely drilled out by all the birds. When I moved into our house back in 84 we used to get 26 deer come to the feeder every day. They would fight with each other for the corn and oats. Then the Ministry told us to stop feeding them. At the feed lot that they made, a few kilometers away you could see the deer arrive and some of them had arrows stuck in them. Pathetic. The ministry did nothing to put them out of their misery. Our area was a no hunting zone.

You are lucky. Here in South Africa, after you selected your pew-pew, you first have to go for a competency test. If you pass, they come and inspect your safe. This will take up to six months. Then, they will send your application for processing. This can take anything from 6 months to 5 years. If everything is OK, you can go and collect your pew-pew. No urgency.

Mike, rather than expand the scope of the food plot, you could employ one of the fundamental concepts of regenerative agriculture known as rotational grazing. In your case you would actually do it in reverse and temporarily protect small areas with a portable exclusion devices. Just something to prevent the deer from keeping the entire area uniformly grazed, which is their natural tendency. A couple 4’x8’x24” high frames covered with chicken wire or slightly heavier. Leave it in place until the patch is 12” tall and then move them sideways by 5 feet. A couple months of that rotation and your plant roots will become more established and initiate the carbon and nitrogen cycles in the soil.

If you expand your food plot. Make it bean shaped. The hunting cabin should be the spot in the curve on the bottom of the bean. That will naturally push the deer by your stand in range of your crossbow and flintlock. I do food plot design and planting on my two properties and also for a few other folks. The bean shaped plot tends to work well at funneling deer past you without making them feel on edge like a fence with a gate, or a chevron shaped food plot. That rye will do well even in that sized plot. The deer eating it is actually not a bad thing as it will keep growing new tender shoots. It should keep growing for another month before the cold finally stops it. I bet you'll have bucks in that plot during daylight most of the season.

I’m in Michigan and I had to go to my county sheriff’s office to pick up a few pistol purchase permits. After I left I thought what I should’ve asked is if I could get my “Free Speech” permit while I was there too. If you want your seeded areas to really grow and fill in, pick up a few hundred pounds of 19-19-19 fertilizer and spread that. In a couple of weeks you’ll be amazed.

Good thing you don't plan to feed yourself out of that food plot.

Security is necessary but Bureaucracy BS is another thing I live in Canada have been to the states many times in the last 25+ years. Some border crossing guard who was bored , we were crossing late at night and he had extra time. Looked through my file , kept all 4 of us waiting for an hour. Made a decision on his own ( you are at the mercy of there mood) not to let me cross. When I was in Collage 3 of my friends went boating without life jackets and were drinking. Long STORY story $50.00 fine. It was still on there indepth records. Guard wrote me up as a felon. Turned us all away. My wife called US customs the next day and was told for $500.00 to do the paper work I could get it removed from there record??? Money grab if you ask me. I will never be back. FU*K THEM.
