@@MWG_Dave Well said, that quote you said in the video is very inspiring for non-pro painters to celebrate and be proud of their own standards. Because by knowing and seeing your efforts reflected on the model opens up the doors to inspiration and improvement instead of constantly in "analysis paralysis" mode or scared of painting the model because I'm not good enough.

I'm happy with this too, as when I first started i was afraid to paint. I was constantly comparing my skills to others and always found myself lacking. From my own experience of working through my own chapter, painting 1000+ models to the same scheme is no easy task and have taken a couple year long breaks to do other armies. But at the end of the day, 1000 models on a table regardless of paint job is a sight to behold. I'm currently less than 200 models away from my own chapter (firstborn only) being fully painted. The fact Nathan got it all done in 10 years is also a solid pace.

I love that people who are not that good at painting actually make the effort to do it, no matter the results. I love that they love the hobby that much, whether that's for building, kitbashing, playing ... or indeed painting itself. It would never come to my mind to ridicule a guy who took the time to paint his army, even if it looks subpar.

An entire chapter. Respect! It takes a lot of time and effort to collect such an amazing force! I'm down to my last 10 Primaris marines of my own Emerald Dragons chapter fleet. They are a space borne chapter based on an orbital shipyard they salvaged from a Forge World wich fell to chaos when the rift opend. My fleet exists of 400 + Primaris Marines (95 Phobos, 139 MK X, 60 Gravis, 20 Terminators. 35 stern & Bladeguard + Bikes (18), Tanks (11), Dreadnoughts (6+2) & Hero's (30+) ) And is roughly one third of the chapter as they are not fully codex compliant. (no scouts for example, as they often fight void battles)

I have yet to devote my time toward a space marine chapter of my own. I fell in love with the Drukhari right of the bat. Found I had a love for several different styles. In the end, I decided I'm going to create my own Kabal and start coming up with lore for it. (Without knowing a clue of what I was doing.) And here I am years later as a collector. I've got thousands of dollars of minis and only a small chunk built or painted. But my collection isn't just my Drukhari army. I've learned art from the ground up. Learned how to paint, with no skill, knowledge, or any idea of what I'm doing. I've been on a break for about a year now. Kinda had a lot going on. But I'm ramping up for my next run. Props to anyone that can hang on and get it done like this. I wish I had more local support. But I've been doing it all on my own, with no community for years now. So the only opinion I have is my own. Still, I have a good idea of my own lore, and what I want out of the game, and the hobby. In the end, F the rules, F the cannon lore, and let's just be a group of nerds that get down and have fun over a thing we managed to create... One day though... the Maelstrom Cricus of Slaughter will make it's way through a game while it's "Slave Band" rocks out and plays "Electric Circus Weapon" so loud that anyone within range will be horrified and run, or get chopped or blasted into bits as the Ring Leader flies through on his private Ravager. Those who have fallen in love with the hobby all have our reasons for doing it. And mine is for my own fantasy inspired by the WH40k universe. And in the end, "F the rules and have fun!" It's a freaking game after all
@ozzyhassan9496 күн бұрын
The paint job was fine entry level and very smart, perfect for the table top. So you dood, are not just being snobby but a poser too. Miniatures are for gaming first, display is secondary. Social media is even lower down than that. Eg, no Miniatures needed for lore and literature, we use illustrations to depict scenes. Miniatures needed for gaming. Not posing. Leave that for the Demon slayer sword / 'eavy metal boyz.

One key line in there that I think a lot of people forget (whether it's wargaming or any other hobby) is the one about enjoying it however you want. We get too caught up in how we think people should enjoy what they do, rather than respecting the fact they do it. I always loved the idea of having an entire chapter having seen Games Workshop display the entire Ultramarines chapter back in the '90s. I very much doubt I'll ever achieve it, but do want to get to a company.

Also I will admit my paint jobs are nowhere near as good as most people like I'm happy with what I can do most of my painting skills have gone towards Gundam models over the past 20 years I finally got back into Warhammer about 4 years ago after I used to play with my cousin and a few of my neighbors and I didn't have any minis of my own but my cousin would let me paint some of the guys he had whenever he was trying to do stuff and because I already had progress with painting Gundam models he knew I could do some of the stuff I may not have been able to do the finer details which was more than enough because it helped him out a lot the only downside is my cousin liked to do dark Angels and imperial fists so I was either painting an emerald green a bone color or black or an orangish yellow with red black and white highlights or green depending on which dark Angels we were working on deathwing or Raven wing so when I finally got back into Warhammer just to spite my cousin and all the yellow he made me paint over the years I went with iron warriors but because I didn't want to paint all the chaos trim I'm using loyalists models and now heresy models as well just making sure I have the appropriate weapons on them so they look the way they should in a way so I get to play chaos but my guys still look like they are loyalists, and I even home-brewed my own 11th legion using grey knights models shaving off certain trim certain details putting putty on the shoulders to get rid of all of the letters and having my brother 3D print the wolf upgrade heads for the robot wolf head helmets of the space wolves from heresy and even coming up with lore for them how after a big battle against a xenos race most of the army got lost in the warp and because the grey knights don't have a primaris equivalent it makes sense why my guys don't have those and my story is my Primark is less of a son and more of a clone of the emperor just nowhere near as powerful but does have the anathema ability and every member of the entire legion becomes a psyker after the gene seeds are implanted and they are like 90% immune to the corruption of chaos and because you have characters like Titus who has a slight immunity to the warp in my lawyer he's actually made from the gene seed of the 11th legion and I have a model in my army that is based on him has one arm is blue and has the ultramarine symbol on it to represent the roots he was raised with but the symbol is covered by the Roman number XI and he is a leader unit for one of my strike squads like if he had actual psychic powers I would have put him as the replacement for castellen Crowe the leader of the purifier order and if the man ever wore Terminator armor he would easily be in my paladin squads or grandmaster in Terminator armor
