judeau, godo, and skull knight are my favorites i feel like people's perceptions of character will differ based on when they began reading the story for myself, i started reading the story last year in April and finished this past April (almost a year exactly to the day coincidently) and being blessed with not having to experience the suffering of hiatuses and long gaps of time between releases of chapters definitely helped not only in the pacing of the story but also in the development of characters for example, i really liked Roderick but i also can understand why someone else would be indifferent to him since his presence is somewhat synonymous with the LONG time spent on the boat

Great torny, great video and great content. I don’t get on and support as much as I wish I could Ryan, but your channel really changed my life as crazy as that sounds. I new of Berserk and it caught me later in my 30s and I needed to do a deep dive. I found this channel and went on a crazy journey reading and then watching your in depth analysis and theories. It got me into Berserk, the lore, the messaging and subtext, the struggle and most importantly Kentaro Miura. So I don’t usually write stuff like this, but I know you have faced your own struggles and this all helped me with my own. When griffith comes back and we get the shot of Guts doing a double yake to see Skull Knight on the hill, ominously pointing into the light is probably my favorite moment of the series. The lead-up to it, the execution, the payoff.....just absolute perfection.

A big thing about the voting for me focused on two key points: -potential for future development -lasting impact on the series I'd lean more towards potential for future events in most polls, but there's a certain point threshold where a character's impact on the narrative or me personally eclipses that precedent. Perfect example for me is Judeau. He has literally 0 future potential for the narrative outside of flashbacks or...random zombie apocalypse, but Judeau is the face of The Golden Age arc to me.

It was very fun, in the case of Silat vs Skull knight I thought Silat is one of my favorites but I can't say I liked it more than Skull knight so it looks one sided but for me they are really close in terms of quality. Also Farnesse is probably my favorite character in berserk excluding Guts and Griffith, only Godo, Casca and Schierke being that close. All of this gets to show the quality of the characters in berserk, because many times during the tournament it was actually really hard to chose. Sorry for any instances of broken english.

Ryan picking Sir Rickert The Age of Ultimate Power over Judeau is the REAL VICTORY in my opinion. Sir Rickert The Cradle 2 The Crossbow is hands down my favorite Berserk character INCLUDING Guts, Casca and Griffith. Look those are all fantastic characters but to me Sir Rickert The No More Mr. Nice Guy is just the coolest and while you may think I'm just saying that because of the slap heard round the world I'm not. Sir Rickert The Notorious R.I.C has been the coolest to me since the Golden Age arc when he was a kid capping fully grown men on the battlefield. In a way he kinda reminds me of Data from the Goonies. Not only that but also him building the friggin arm cannon that Guts wields is just plain awesome. However I was very torn on that poll because while Sir Rickert The Turbo Two is my absolute favorite Berserk character a close second for me would be Corkus and I think Pippin is a solid character. However I don't like Judeau and the reason why is because I find him TOO "likable". Judeau to me is the Itachi type character who everyone loves because he's a good guy and he has a tragic death and I dunno maybe him liking Casca but not going after her. But to me Judeau is just so plain and boring. I much prefer Corkus because as much as Corkus was a jerk to Guts he was an honest jerk and a true friend. Plus I like how down to earth Corkus was. Also Anna is an underrated Berserk waifu.

With Zodd vs Skull Knight it came down to one thing that decided my choice, and that's the fact that Zodd helped Griffith while Skull Knight helped Guts and Casca. Skull Knight is truly a real one for that!

What I love about Berserk is it makes you think in a nuanced way. I read a comment saying that yes SK helped Guts but it is in his nature to help him as he is his ally and against the god hand. I kinda wanna see a final ranking between Casca, Griffith. Skull Knight, and Guts. We might be surprised by the precentages. Honestly for me i might tempted to vote Griffith. I don't think he's very likeable and he's way overdo for a Dragonslayer enema. But he is to me one of the most unique well written villians (no one of the best written characters) in pop culture. How many other charcters have an arc like him? We get just enough glimpses of his humanity that every time I've read or watched the Golden Age I kinda hope he would just say no to the Godhand, his bond with Guts is just that well done. And after the eclipse he doesn't do what you'd expect a villian like that to do like just conquer the world by any means while twirling a mustache, he becomes the "savior" this world has been praying for and creates a world of "peace". Of course he's not doing this for the benefit of others, since the Eclipse its been all about what he wants. He wants to be loved and worshiped, to be depended on. But yeah Guts will probably win.

This was a good idea! Though i think the way this was done, probably didn't show the right results. Like in the case of Farnese and Serpico being different on 2 polls. I think a better way to do it, is just 1 poll where people say their top 5 characters. Then you count them all and see how many votes each character has. This is what "mrtommo2304" did in his Bleach character poll. If i were to give my 10 personal characters, these would be it: 1 Guts. 2 Griffith. 3 Farnese. 4 Serpico. 5 Judeau. 6 Shierke. 7 Casca. 8 Irvine. 9 Roderick. 10 Isidro.

Because of the poll format, perception of the results are limited; I would be split on two choices, but when I decide, only the one choice maters, not who I was split on, as they get grouped with the other three; many might have the same outcome, but the result shows a landslide; my example: Puck versus Skull knight (Puck's obliviousness knocked him down a touch). If we could score each character with 1, 2, 3 and 4, you would have better understanding, and even more if we had 100 points to invest however we want between þhe choices.

Chances are you're caught up to Berserk if you're watching this video, but this is a spoiler warning for Berserk nonetheless. This tournament has challenged me to consider which characters are worth calling "favorites" from many different angles. A have a friend that objected Farnese being a member of the main cast until she pleaded Schierke to teach her magic. I read Berserk for the first time about a year ago and I'm a little more forgiving of characters so I started to accept Farnese when she left the gang to ask her father for a ship on behalf of the gang. However, upon reflection from your input, I definitely can she how she's had the most character development behind Guts himself. From an objective standpoint, she probably deserves to win this tournament. She has come such a long way, of all the characters in the main cast, including Guts himself, I think Farnese is furthest along in being able to define who she is and who she's meant to be as a person.

Regarding Jerome. I kinda forgot who Jerome was while woting on the pole, and the reason for that is probbably that he is just a lesser version of Rodric and was made obsolite by him in my eyes. They have similar character: devoted to a woman they truly love, loyal, badass, quick thinking and engenuitive. Rodric is just more prevelant and is conected to a way more important character than Jerome.
