Hey Tom, complaints handler here who works in insurance, make sure to keep evidence of all the purchases you had to make to replace what was in your suitcase. I would also chase Emirates for your suitcase, they need to confirm first the suitcase is lost before you can make a claim on your travel insurance. If it is lost make sure you get them to confirm that in writing and I would also claim compensation through them. Just make sure you document everything. I hope you do get your suitcase back after all of this!!, but hope the above somewhat helps :)

Tom I have to tell you, I bought an orange B&Q bucket for no other reason that watching the vlog and my missus thought I was crazy well since then it's been a life saver including today helping us fix our washing machine. Safe to say my missus is now a believer and even she now said the orange bucket was a great purchase! Our household thanks you sir! Lol ALL HAIL THE ORANGE BUCKET!

Tom! I work for vodafone and we get this a lot, we can postpone people switching over to us by about 2 months, so it might be worth seeing if your new provider can do that so you don't have to pay for 2 lots of Internet!

Tom I'd take alfie to the doctor's over the dribble rash My son had a dribble rash that got bad enough that it got a mild infection which he needed a special cream because we thought it would clear up on its own but it just kept getting worse even with us using sudo cream to manage it Hope you, Lydia and Alfie have an amazing weekend and hope you all get your luggage back soon 😊

Ex insurance broker here, my advice ensure you have copies of all expenses paid out including the hotel costs. Send them all over to your insurers to review and advise. Most travel claims take about 2 months to fully settle.

the best thing for the dribble rashes, is a vasaline and moisturizer combination cream, our daughter had the same issue, "Zeroderm ointment" is what it was called worked for us

Tom Re your luggage Emirates are required to compensate you if they can’t find your luggage and your travel insurance limits are normally per person so it would be £2k for you and Lydia, not sure if your policy includes luggage for Alfie or not? Hopefully you get it back though!

I'm not sure whether you're referring to travel insurance when you talk about claiming, but if you are, they will very likely charge you an unreasonable excess and take value off your possessions for being "used". If they say you can claim up to a grand, you'll be lucky to see 500 of it. You'll actually be far better off checking to see if your home insurance covers your stuff outside of your home because they will genuinely value it on what it would cost you to replace it, not on what it's worth second hand. The difference in the amount you could claim should be quite substantial. Worth a check

Like u say tom the flood in dubai is an act of god so unless u have specific insurance to cover it u wont get anything back but as for luggage and clothes etc definitely worth claiming as cost of what u might've lost is worth more than what u'll pay if ur insurance increases ..... at least ur all home safe thats whats most important ❤❤

Last time our bags got lost, we contacted the airline and because they lost the suitcase we could claim a part of the clothes we bought. Don’t know how emirates looks at the situation in dubai because your bags were in te same country. But you can always check!

It might just be me but honestly, I love the at home vlogs (and the travel ones too) where you’re doing all the business, admin type things because I honestly believe it’s a reminder to people that you’re human too. You still have to pay bills, you still have to clean the house, etc. I love seeing other people doing real life things cause it feels relatable and it makes you remember you aren’t alone in everyday stresses so please don’t apologise for these types of vlogs. They’re just as enjoyable in a relatable sort of way whereas the travel ones are more of the escape and goal setting style for viewers!

Hey Tom been loving blogs kept us going :) we lost my mother in law sadly on 29th March should say my ex mother in law but to my son she was like his mother since divorce 7 years ago he's 21 she was a great part of his life and he has definitely struggled since her passing but your vlogs have kept him going and he says about you dealing with your grandads passing and how you dealt with that have really helped , so on behalf of myself and my boy Adam thankyou and keep it up , you help people in so many ways , boy will be tuning in at 7 Monday for your latest exploits ( me too lol ) but again thankyou I spent last few weeks trying to be strong for my boy and you are and will always do same for yours :) sincerely Jim

I got snowed in , in Amsterdam and I was with allianz who reimbursed the extra 4 days we were there , travel , money etc but I had to provide all evidence of transactions , train tickets etc or they wouldn’t reimburse me. but no experience with cases I’m afraid Tom! Usually, most of my friends, whenever they lose their luggage they chase the airline because they know they aren't going to call back regarding their luggage or give any updates, so it depends

Hi Tom. I am a travel agent, and I have seen a lot of situations like this with your luggage. If you did buy travel insurance, depending on what company you bought it with and the specific terms of your plan, the insurance company should help you recover the luggage. I once had an insurance company track down two pieces of luggage that were lost somewhere between 4 different countries, flown over 4 different airlines. Most standard insurance plans will cover up to a certain amount for lost or delayed luggage. It is important that you keep any receipts for anything you had to buy as a result of not having your luggage. Finally, I always recommend that you buy airbags and keep an airbag in your luggage when you travel. Hope this helps!

Hi Tom! Previous experience with virgin business, if you complain enough and make sure they understand that it was not laid out clearly in the contract that you had to give 3 months notice to cancel, they will normally let you off and do the normal 30 days notice

Emirates have a baggage tracker system on their app you need to see if you can trace down your baggage with your original flight details if you still have them, if not then try claim your baggage through insurance
