Forgot about this game. Glad to know it’s still getting updates.
@scragar4 жыл бұрын
The wires update was being worked on when DF uploaded the previous video about it, a good portion of it was available in alpha(join the discord if you want to learn about that, the creator has very strict rules about sharing the alpha and beta publicly) at the time too, although the way the shape identifier worked was a bit broken(you needed to test the colour by abusing the way the wires can only have one signal before outputting error and not error = true while not anything that's not false or error is false, there was no colour comparing device). Also there's actually a save file on the discord of a guy that built a programmable computer, you use switches to program memory then another switch to "run" said program which can display the output on the displays. The computer is very bare bones, but the fact that it works is still incredible.

@cullenlatham23664 жыл бұрын
yet still doesnt hold a candle to the geniuses who buid computers within computers. Also, if you saw his first episode of the sponsorship... yeah, lets just say it took a little experimenting before he knew how to optimize. It is one of those games where some people generally start with more optimized machines whereas others figure out how to optimize a bit later than the herd, but by the end of the game you become a master at this variety of optimization, regardless of where you started.
@scragar4 жыл бұрын
@@cullenlatham2366 DF deliberately makes inefficient designs. Most people tend to pull the few resources they need into parallel lines, then use splitters and underground belts to feed off a portion into a machine at the side/middle, then duplicate this as many times as they need to based on their belt speed vs specific machine(+ a buffer if the belt speed is going to be upgraded sooner which would mean they'd become unbalanced). DF just spaghettifies his belts splitting them somewhat randomly then feeds them under one another in the middle of his machinery before using the splitters to merge it back together unevenly, it takes up way more room and is harder to improve in future, but it wouldn't be DF if he wasn't spending days breaking the game.
@cullenlatham23664 жыл бұрын
@@scragar No, i have been around the channel enough to know your intent, but you misinterpret. When DF wants to be inefficient and break the game, he makes it clear upfront. In this video, his GOAL was to do exactly that. But watch his first episode and you see just how long it took him to understand the basics of making an effective factory. You need to know how to make a system work before you can try and break or overload said system. Optimization as a whole is asking for a creative solution, and different people will optimize their shape factories in different ways. For example, i choose to devote a line to the production of "lemons" after finding a vein that produced the shape without the need for cutters and combiners. The game did not ask for lemons, but they gave me lemons. (2 opposing quadrants having squares, the other 2 corners having wedges[1/4 circles]).
