My journey is a bit similar. I did not get the grades at 6th form so I did a double major in bio and chem at university. However I did not graduate with 1st class honours. I spoke with someone from admissions and she told me they do not accept graduates unless they have a 1st class honours degree. She advised that I do their 1yr pre-science course and if I get all A's I'd be considered for their medical programme. I did the course and I got 3 A- s and so I was rejected again. I repeated those courses and I got an A- again in one of my math courses so I was rejected again. I repeated the math course and finally got an A and I'll be starting medical school in August this year. To anybody facing rejections please hang in there. My family pretty much gave up on me and were trying to convince me to do something else and settle for any old job I can find. So I was pretty much on my own. I was determined I had to get into medical school and I made it happen by the grace of God. Seek advice not only from your teachers but from admissions directors from the schools that you're interested in and plan your route carefully. All the best to anyone reading this.

Dude! My twin brother and I have had an almost identical experience! Although we got the grades during a levels, our interview skills were simply subpar and so we picked up a degree in biomed. Now in third year, after balancing a degree, dissertation and interviews we have both been accepted! It is the best feeling in the world.

You have no idea how much I needed this, thank you! I was rejected from medical school on my first time applying. I ended up applying for bio medical sciences and I’m on my last semester. I was getting As and I bombed two tests in my classes recently. I literally drove home crying the whole ride and thought maybe I’m not meant for medicine. Thank you for reminding me not to give up.

u know that u can switch to medicine after bio medical science. You do you bro and never give up.i didnt fail my gcses but didnt get grades for A levels. now im doing btec level 3 applied science course which can lead me to biomedical science and from after that medicine but i have a once in a thousand chance. i got november exams which is my only early chance to shine and prove to my family that i got the shit to go through. i wish everyone good luck.i talked to a collage advisor and she shat on me , saying that she doubts ill get into medicine. ill prove her sorry ass wrong inshallah. gotta do less talk and more work!

I needed this so much.... I'm currently a year 12 student in Australia, and I have recently received my UCAT score, it was below average, despite I have prepared for it for months. Undergraduate's just impossible now, and to be honest, I was really beat down and shattered. I did not know how to face my family or myself. But after watching your video? Hey, this is not the end! I'll keep on working, get in to biomedical science at Monash, which has 50 postgraduate medicine place reserved for their biomed kids, and achieve what I wanted for the past decade. I was so depressed because initially my dream schools emailed me "I was not competent enough in my interview." but anyways I got into a school to study physio. I must say big congrats to you Kenji! So much respect for the points raised in this video, he is clearly hard-working, humble and honest. I've met a lot of medics who are quite the opposite simply because they study medicine and I'm sure the few I've met with the more human traits will be better doctors as a consequence. Medicine is not just about grades but hard work (as Kenji said) and excellent interpersonal skills (as he demonstrated).

If I'm right, my son graduated from KCL with his MBBS degree right at the moment you were entering the uni starting with the same degree (Jul/Aug 2017). He really enjoyed his time at King's including the extra year doing his intercalated degree in which he got a 'First' to go with the 'Distinction' at MBBS. As a pre-med student, I can't thank you enough for posting this video. I've used all of my perseverance to go through my first year in Biomedical Science last year, and I still got a non-competitive GPA (7.78 out of 10.0). To give some background, I've had a traumatic head accident when I was skiing the year before. I have waited for 1.5 years to see a neurologist (long waitlist) that told me that I've been suffering from post-concussion syndrome and that no, I didn't suffer from depressive headache nor was I getting 'dumber' (Yeah, I was really beating myself up). Long story short, my biggest mistake (that I'm taking responsibility for) was to not take a gap year during the 2019-2020 school year in order to properly recover from my concussion. And I had convinced myself that I wasn't fit to become a doctor... I thought to myself this summer, that perhaps, I should in Finances or Engineering since my math grades were the only A+ I got last year. Since then, I've been feeling like my future is up in the air and so many roads are paved in front of me but I will surely fail all of them because even by pushing everyone away to focus on studying, I just kept passing out (massive headaches). This is just me sharing what I've experienced, I hope no one will get offended. Anyway, your story is really inspiring and I'd like to thank you again for sharing it. I still haven't finished this video, but I wanna write this comment, I finished my medical school, I didn't get the degrees that I wanted because of a lot of reasons, since then I feel very depressed, I feel wasted a lot of chances , and right now I don't have many chances as before, no one day passes without me thinking about that, and feeling depressed, feeling out of breath, I can't get a master degree and any other degree, because of these degrees, I felt hopless...can't get the speciality that I wanted. But watching your story, how many years you waited to get into medical school, 3 years ! Are so much time. This is very motivational, this makes me ask am I less? No, I'm not.

Thank u so much. I'm in high school right now and i'm so afraid to not get the grades to get in medicine. And there 's kinda a voice inside of my head that makes me doubt of myself every single day cuz i don't consider myself smart enough to be in the top grades of my courses. Thanks for the video, I know your pain of rejection ! I've graduated my BSc HONS in Genetics last year and didn't get the offers from Med School. Now I'm doing my postgrad this year and PHD next year. Hopefully I'll get into Med school after my PHD. This is the unconventional way to go to medical school, but I'm sure they would takes my application more seriously. :)

This made me tear up. I am the first person to go to university from my family, didn't finish school and had to work extra hard to get into one of the best universities for Architecture. With that being said, after completing my Bachelor degree I still find myself working 10x harder, put in the extra hours of work to get even remotely close to the level everyone is in Masters. I'll be starting my Masters this October and I'm already studying for it now (March) so I'm equipped with the technical abilities I need. Feels unfair sometimes, especially when you know you put in 100% of your effort all the time. Just wanted to say thank you for this video gave me the motivation to keep going. Everyone is on their own level. Someone might take 5 years others will take 8 to get to their goal.

Honestly these videos are so important. On results day when I realised I didn't get the grades I needed for my offer I was completely crushed. I didn't know anyone else who had to go through an alternate route. I ended up taking a gap year and things have really turned out well. I wish I was aware of these alternate routes before maybe it would save me nights of worrying and feeling like a failure.

I was rejected from medical school but I was not stressed for this. I started my preparation again. I joined iCanMed’s UCAT preparation course. And, it worked. Now, I am studying in top medical university.

I got rejected 2 times in my dream school and 2 times in scholarship. I feel frustrated and sad. I'm always crying in night because of the result and to avoid everyone know that I'm crying because my family know that I'm happy person and that I can move on easily. I didn't eat properly and I lock myself in my room. Whenever I will face my family and my friends, I smile at them like there's nothing happen but deep in myself everything is painful for me. My cousin and my friends got accepted on their dream school while me, I'm just here. Rejected and depress. That moment I began to doubt myself. 💔
