They have millions of sellers and lack the manpower to police them. It's the same for Amazon. Even when a seller gets caught, they come back in a few days with a different name selling the same products.

I check feedback, when the account was created plus location, and if the deal appears to be too good to be true. There are so low seller feedback accounts just trying to sell a couple of things laying around. Often though, they have a decent buyer feedback to examine. Most often, if it is a pandemic or newer account with a funky name claiming to be out of California, I give them a pass. As BrianW211 said, Amazon is the same. The difference for me there, is I make sure I am buying a returnable product shipped by Amazon and not the seller. Should I get a counterfeit on Amazon (which thus fall my luck has held unlike Ebay), it'll be dropped off at the UPS Store ASAP.

Growing up on a small farm in ET TN I always carried a pocket knife. As a office worker, i still carry one today. It is a single blade rough rider. Having donated some knives to the TSA, I am now very careful to leave it at home when i fly. I would forget and carry it to school but a teacher who was a family friend and i had an understanding. If i brought the knife to her at the beginning of school, she kept it and i could get it at the day. If i didn't and she found out, i lost it. Love Smoky Mountains knife works. I live about an hour away. The owner got his start many years ago by selling knives at Dollywood. Love your channel!

Grew up in East Tennessee. I’ve carried a pocket knife since I was a little boy. I’m not dedicated to any one brand. Have lost more than I possess. Can’t have too many. I also carry a knife regularly - but since I am really not all that skilled at sharpening, I chose to get a little folding Gerber knife that takes a standard utility knife blade. Now when my knife starts to get dull, I can flip the blade end-for-end and have a razor sharp edge again in minutes. After the 2nd side dulls, I pop in a new blade and the cycle begins again. Take care and God Bless.

I was driving and saw a open knife in a major intersection, I was able to get out and get it, I was thinking it was a cheap Walmart knife and didn't want it to end up in a tire or kids finding it. as i walked back to my car I saw the Benchmade logo, it was an Osborn 940. I looked up all the info to tell the difference from a counterfeit to the real deal and it is a genuine one. I cleaned it up and apart from having some of the finish word off from cars running it over it is in great shape. I love it. I imagine it worked itself loose from a motorcycle riders pocket. Glad i was able to give it a good home.

My heart would have just sunk, immediately after seeing that paint on the scales. Just as you took it out, you can see the spring-green tone and light gloss. If you buy from a less-than-reputable seller, look for a dark summer-green tone with a chalky feel to the scales. If you have dry hands, you might even see the scales pick up a little white from your skin.

Benchmade has lousy customer service I'll say that right up front. Back in 2005 or so I bought a 275.00 automatic knife at a gun store. Carried it for about 3 months and the automatic spring mechanism broke. I took it back to the store because it was under warranty. A month goes by and the gun store hadn't heard anything about my knife. 7 months later he calls and they say they will not return the knife because its an automatic knife and the owner isn't a member of law enforcement. I had a concealed carry permit in my state so I was legal. I tried to contact them for 6 or 8 months and they would never take my calls or emails. To this day I will not own any of their products nor will I tell people to buy one, the knives just aren't that good of a knife.

In the last couple years I've gotten really into the traditional knives myself and very recently more buck knives. I live in Idaho and when buck relocated here in 2006 They put the shape of our state on all of the tang stamps on their US made knives so I started collecting a bunch of those because of the novelty. Then I watched a doc about how the 110 was literally the knife that invented the lock back or any locking blade I'm pretty sure which is obviously interesting. Only slipjoints existed before ol Buck Sr. Came up with the idea. They are still a family owned company with the founders great or maybe great great grandson running the show now. The most recent knife I've purchased was the new Buck 110 drop points with s30v super steel blade. I personally find the knife a little big for edc but as a collectable it's an awesome knife and I can see why people would edc the knife. I like the size of the squire or 112 a little better.

Been carrying my Benchmade 940-2 every day since I bought it in 2017. Absolutely great knife. A few suggestions, there is a mod you can do to the heel of the knife to make it easier to sharpen, by using a small round file or dremel bit to grind the heel forwards past the plunge grind (where the back of the blade starts getting thicker) which makes sharpening a bit easier. You will want to look up videos on this since if you do it wrong (grind down the flat) it can cause the blade to close more than it should and will smack the blade on the inside of the scales. Another tip is to use a T6 torx driver to remove the thumb stud when sharpening. It makes it SO much easier to sharpen the heel and not have to mess around trying to not grind up your thumb stud.

A Benchmade knife for farm use is a very bad idea for many reasons. 1. Very delicate and sensitive to contamination. It contains springs that break over time and need to be replaced. 2. A thick blade that splits rather than cuts and dices - the 940 is a miniature crowbar, not a good knife. Don't insist on American knives made in the USA, because they are expensive and not very well made. Buy yourself a Cold Steel made in Taiwan, with a TriAdLock lock, and you will have a knife that will last you until the end of time and beyond. Always buy knives from an authorized dealer of the brand, not from Amazon or other similar sites.

I swapped my Spyderco Shaman for a 940. The axis lock broke so I sent it in for repair (I live in the UK). They told me it was a fake, wouldn't repair it (understandably) and suggested I authorise them to scrap it. Which I did. Bought another 940 from a reputable seller, but the Axis lock is still a weak point for this knife and it broke a further two times even with minimal use. Benchmade warranty is second to none and they sorted it out for me, but it took months because I live in the UK. I think (but don't know for certain) they put a stronger spring in, and I've had no problems since. I use it now for light 'home tasks', but I don't trust it for anything more. I now use Cold Steel products which NEVER fail.

Kershaw has been knocking it out of the park. Great knife steels and great price points, and if it's really important, USA made. I have a griptilian and bugout they are great knives, but their price points are out hand. The Osborne has cpm S30v, which is a premium steel and arguably one of the best. Benchmade has the best customer service and will sharpen your knife for free.Just don't send them a knockoff. You won't get it back. There are many reputable online knife centers that often equal or less than Amazon. And people have gotten knockoffs through Amazon also.

I’m the same, the first thing I do when I buy a new knife is remove the pocket clip. I’ve never needed a pocket clip on my knives and never will. I’ve got some really expensive folding knives and I can’t stand having pocket clips on them. It’s a case of don’t fix it if it’s not broken. All the old timers never needed them, neither do I.

Nice video, thanks for sharing. I'm retired now, but for most of my life I carried a Scout/Camp style pocket knife. ( Blade, Can opener, bottle opener/flat screw driver, awl, and a shackle - aka Bale or Clevis) I've worked jobs that ranged from cutting trees to sell as firewood, to working in warehouses, and driving truck. I never had an issue where I couldn't cut something with my scout style pocket knife, and I found the few extra tools it came with very handy. For 23 years I carried a 1968 U.S. Cammilus military pocket knife (scout style) every day, and I used it so much I finally wore the springs out and had to replace it. A little over a year ago I made a switch from the Scout/Camp style pocket knife and purchased a Vixtorinox Huntsman pocket knife, and I really like it. The extra tools it has come in realy handy. Sometimes I will be walking my property line and find my neighbors tree limbs growing through my fence. I just take out my Huntsman and use the saw to cut them. I still love the usefullness of the ole Scout style knives, and they'll forever be in my heart, but after carrying the Huntsman, I doubt I will ever go back to the scout. Have a blessed week. JT

There is no such blade shape as "Reverse Tanto", it was a marketing term adopted by Benchmade for the release of the 940 model in 2000. This was created to ride on the wave of success in Cold Steel's Americanized Tanto. That knife you showed was an Americanized Tanto. What is referred to as "Reverse Tanto" is the Kiritsuke shape. Reverse would mean the tip and tang changed position. The correct term would be inverted or upside-down, if there were a sharpened secondary tip and edge, (which there is not), like an Americanized Tanto shape.

Yep. I'm seeing these same sentiments on many channels. I had to launch a racketeering investigation into the knife industry including many so-called knife channels & retailers. White Mountain Knives ripped me off for $100, never honored the 10% LTK discount code but eventually refunded me only part of the money. $89 for a Condor Aqualore covered under filthy epoxy all over the Blade and Denim micarta handle. He still owes me $10 a year later. Idiot Justin emails me saying he couldn't do an exchange because all his Aqualores were as bad. Confessions in writing to a notorious sworn immunized federal investigator investigating Epsteins partners-in-crime for their racketeering. Trump, his NY real estate attorney Cuomo, the Bidens, etc. Ergo, he stole from my bank account by posting a photo if a knife he later confessed he didn't activate have in stock. Wanted me to exchange for another knife. So he could keep the 1st $100 he stole then go list the returned Aqualore on his returned Knives discount page for another $80 or $90. Wire fraud. Then proceeded to threaten me on my whistleblower KZbin channel. Turns out, this is a systemic problem with retailers. Blade HG sold a boatload of pre-order Civivi Elementum Wharnies. So they shoukd be the first customers to get the Knives when they drop. Nope. BHQ got their stock in and sent them.out to the new customers who bought them after they were listed. The pre-order customers start seeing unboxing & reviews but don't have their Knives, yet. Called BHQ who told them that the pre-order Knives hasn't arrived at BHQ yet. As if they get a completely different knife. That's called wire fraud. They drafted money from all those bank accounts before the knife was even available on the promise to get their Knives first. So, I'm the enemy of these KZbin knife & EDC channels who lots of kickbacks & profit from their affiliations with the knife/EDC gear companies & retailers. You can't make this crap up 💩 They picked a fight with the wrong #NavyBrat #Spook and they're starting to realize that the hard way.

I've always carried a variety of different pocketknife and have been tempted on the Benchmade many times, but after carrying the Leatherman Skeletool CX I haven't looked back. It's smaller and lighter than your typical Leatherman, but the blade is still big enough to get the job done. The pliers and other tools always seem to come in handy. Also, Leatherman has a great warranty if your tool breaks.

Great video! My grandpa gave me a Case Peanut pocket knife, toolbox, hammer, pliers, Cresent wrench, flat and Phillips screwdrivers for my 8th birthday, much to my mom's chagrin. Benchmade, Microtech, and Spyderco counterfeits are seemingly everywhere . Amazon frequently sells them, even though they have a no counterfeit policy. As a knife collector the best advice I can give is always buy from reputable dealers. White Mountain knives sell the base 940 for $219, offer free shipping, 10% off codes, and no sales tax so it works out to $197.10 delivered.

I don't know about farming, but my Victorinox Swiss "soldier" with four blades, 65 mm. edge main blade, two screwdriver blades with can opener and bottle cap opener - common stuff, and awl, with aluminum sides, has been good for everything from routine chores to minor carpentry and auto and electrical repair and first aid. Not sexy, not a weapon. Lost one, replaced it, and both together almost fifty years carrying. The tool you can use unless you need a real, dedicated tool.

I think those pocket clips are made to hold your knife inside your pocket. It might be counterintuitive, but the clip holds your knife at the top of your pocket where you can grab it without fishing it out from between your keys, change, phone and whatever else you have in your pocket. Only the clip is outside your pocket. If you hang your knife outside, either on your pocket or belt, it will of course disappear.

I do take it apart from time to time to clean and lube the pivot. 10 minutes with a lansky stone set and strop and it's razor sharp again.
