As you suggested, get a pipe sticking out of the wall. I might have been tempted to fix a push fit elbow to the wall, running to your outlet in the floor. Then you can have rigid pipe on your bidet sticking out the back, and if it pushed into place, you can be sure the pipe has mated with the push fit elbow. A bit like fitting a wall hung toilet pan. You did well with what you had.

When pushing in rigid pipe blind like that, what I prefer to do is brace the pipe to the bowl so that it cannot move or flex. In this case, I'd probably stick an off-cut of pipe vertically above it. It the fitting cannot move, and the bowl sits into place, then you've more confidence that the pipe has only gone where you want it to.

I’m a plumber too. I completely feel your pain. What a bad design. In the US at least people understand the bidet should be built into the toilet. Flexi line is a sign that a plumber didn’t install it. But in your case I see why you had to use it.

Good spot 👍 this is technically ok because it has an air admittance valve on it though, there's another open stack that vents to the roof
@GlennPierce3 ай бұрын
@@THE-AIDEN-PROJECT So the air admittance valve on that didn't help much with the loo dragging water from the bidet I guess. I was considering putting one on but may try and find a better trap for the sink first.
@THE-AIDEN-PROJECT3 ай бұрын
@@GlennPierce it didn't on this because the trap was so shallow. An open stack does give better air flow so that would have helped. Plus it depends how the 110mm pipes are joined under the floor. The building regs give maximum pipe runs for different sized pipes so this should have been ok but there was just a bad combination which meant this didn't work. If you're having troubles with your sink I would also start with a different trap

I was a self employed time severed plumber for many years, and let me tell you no one is whiter than white, you sometimes do what you have to, to get the job done, for example, I went to up grade to a new bathroom install, when I removed the bath panel, there on the waste outlet was looked like a rubber inner tube with jubilee clips, oh my word said the lady of the house on seeing it, well I said how long is it since you had the bathroom in?, 20yrs plus she said, well it didn't leak, did it I said, my point being bad practice, yes!, did it do the job at the time yes!

Sorry, me again but all these comments about back pressure and venting and stuff, I thought that I could get away with sharing this nugget of joy from my earlier days afloat. Jammy gett that I was, in my twenties I was lucky enough to live on a houseboat on the River Thames. The first question anyone always asked was does the bog empty straight into the river? No! We were blessed with a _vacuum sewage system_ yes siree! Which shut down when it was windy for no logical reason. But that wasn't the worst of it. Muggins here was the unwitting owner of a shower tray. Fine. Common or garden, nothing to see here. That turned out to be the lowest point on the network for the whole forty or so boats. So when the giant hoover or whatever it was at the other end did go down for any length of time, there was nothing stopping err... reflux. "Hmmm ... I'm sure I sent that one on its way some time ago" was sthg that crossed my mind on such occasions. Nice, you might say. That's not the best bit, the crux of the matter, the bottom of the problem though. Henry Hoover's twisted twin brother Vincent Vacuum didn't care if I had used the facilities and certainly if I hadn't, there was nothing stopping him from proudly presenting through the grille of the shower tray any of my neighbours' own ahem.., leavings. LOVELY! I should've bought shares in Domestos.
