@@dineomolapo9934 Kiswahili is very much an African language. A Bantu one at that. It is the reason why my grandmother who does not know it, can get the gist of what you are speaking about because she can piece it together. It is why other Eastern and South African Bantus can pick it up quickly because it is basically the same. It does have slight Arabic influence because of the presence of the Arabs at the coast, it also has a smattering of Portuguese influence (though not at the level of Arabic influence) because of the short stint of the Portuguese at the coast. So, YES, Kiswahili is very much an African language.
