I agree that areas of the UK are unrecognisable , combative and incredibly unfriendly and run down. But, how about us like minded Brits try getting together and fighting against the unwanted changes being forced upon us?

Lmao …… us Brits should have woken up to it 50 to 100 years Plus ago. No good trying to lock the stable door after the horse has bolted. Most Brits, the older generation sleepwalked into it all, and still are. This country was given away Many years ago …… just like they gave away their gun rights. What next, in the next few years if Russian soldiers are walking up your streets us Brits will be shouting We Want Our Gun Rights Back. This country was handed on a plate to them many many years ago, many Brits gave their country away as a Gift basically …… ya can’t ask for a gift back.

When i see people in Australia like perth etc i think my god ots a different world , the weather, the culture. Im 60 and wish i couod move to spain , ive no family onky one son who hardly sees me even though im 10 mins walk away. Ive no friends and i cant even get a rescue cat as i live to near a main road and ive always had cats, in spain i could get one anywhere any rescue. I suffer real bad with SAD and the cold , rain of winter cripples me with anxiety and depression 😞 😢

In the UK we do not have the best weather for your complaints. An idea would be to book on a coach tour. You will meet people, have a laugh and feel that life is worth living. The gift of life is very special and not to be wasted. I know it takes money to do this but if you plan and have it as a goal that too will help. Sad about your son but why not ask him to chip in to your holiday savings? That may help him feel less guilty at not seeing you. Sit and make a plan and see how it goes. Best wishes…

Retired sure that's great but Spain is not good for working age Brits as the pay is pretty bad to cost of living. I know if Brits that live in Spain but they inherited wealth to buy property outright there, had jobs there but with foreign companies that paid them equivalent salaries to their home countries and another that goes back to the UK works then flies back to Spain on a 3 on 2 off rotation.

We're a little late to the party. I'm now 61 and couldn't stand being in the UK anymore. We moved to fuerteventura and only issue is that we wished we'd done it years ago. What is surprising is the number of people who could leave the UK but choose to stay. The objective, for most people, would be to live and work in a safe, peaceful low-cost country but receive a first-world salary or pension. Cities in the West are not great places to live, mainly because they no longer look or feel like the West.

Most human beings are too fearful of change. They will try to justify to themselves why they can’t make the leap. You have to be comfortable putting yourself into an uncomfortable situation where there’s uncertainty. Truth is, many simply are unable to do this, getting stuck in the paralysis of analysis.

Yup, left the U.K. almost 3 years ago now. Best decision I ever made. Biggest factor for me is the lack of sunshine in the U.K. I did some research, England is officially the second cloudiest country in the whole of Europe, second only to Scotland. Says it all. I lived in Egypt for 6 years and were the best 6 years of my life. I love the UK but only to visit and need to get out again. I had to come back due to parents health and I needed an operation also myself. I haven’t decided where I will go. Egypt has become very expensive place to live and Thailand has crossed my mind. I feel you have to take the leap of faith and then if doesn’t work you can always go elsewhere or move back but it’s making the move initially that matters otherwise is just a dream always. Travel changes the mind and helps you grow and I am grateful for living elsewhere and hope I can again soon before it’s too late. I moved to Egypt during the Revolution and didn’t bother me at all.

Ive been an adventurer since my 30's. I lived solo on my narrowboat for years, met my partner, sold the boat, lived in a motorhome and bought a farm up a mountain in Portugal in 2008 for £25000. I'm 66 now, living easily on my UK state pension, for the both of us. I havent been back since I left in 2015. The only thing stopping anyone from choosing a different life (its not money cos ive not had much) its courage to take the opportunities when they come along.

I also think its the unconventional and untaught lifestyle that travelling brings. It's drilled into everyone's head that you must raise a family, have a large, local social circle, build a good career, and to do that you have to work full time and remain sedentary and in one place. Travelling is looked down upon by most because to do it you have to sacrifice and effectively not pursue all the common barometers of 'success' that most people pursue and are obsessed with. You won't get a good career or wealthy travelling, and for most people due to the middle-class ideals drilled into everyones head, that's a no-go. It also of course means you will be away from family, friends, 'community' for large periods of time and for most people that again is a no-go. I do agree about money. I'd argue having no money and growing up poorer probably helps us out a lot for those pursuing a travelling lifestyle, because we're used to living strictly, not much comforts and don't have those middle-class expectations as often like having to have a career by your twenties and saving the entirety of your youth for a house.

Maybe it's the way it was presented, but on the surface this sounded so moronic. Working nonstop in the UK, not having any money, yet able to save 10 grand in a year. Moved to Thailand, blown 8 grand in 6 months, WHILE working. Complained about crime in the UK news, yet in Thailand personally witnessed violence and threatened so much that had to run to another country. Complained about low quality of life in the UK, yet had to work for no money and had no electricity in Cambodia. Leaving the love of your life in exchange to loneliness, then later a toxic relationship.

I've worked in 29 countries at the last count, mostly Europe but also Asia and North America. Travel is a good thing to do, for one thing, many people find how much we all have in common, everyone everywhere has the same money problems, wants the same basics of life, and everyone hates their own governments for one reason or another. The UK is still a good country to live in. The problem is our 24/7 media which just sensationalises crime and negative news, but being affected by crime is still rare (and the statistics back this up). If we turn off from the news, things are great.

I agree with everything you have said. I left the UK for similar reasons, i love England, but for someone like me and the way i see life and the world, it is a really miserable and boring place. I moved to France, a few years ago and I've never looked back. It hasn't been easy, I've had a lot of trouble and difficult situations to deal with, but that didn't stop me, i learned alot about myself going through what i went through, i discovered i could deal with it and learn from it and grow. I still live in France, i made it work, and i love it, more jobs available, better pay, working conditions, affordable housing and obviously better climate, friendly people and the lifestyle and culture here is much better for me, i feel like I'm actually living rather than just existing. So i agree, if you want to travel or move to another country, do it! It's not easy, but it's possible!

I think what she did it very brave. But thats why we need to stay, to help. Not everyone can leave the UK. I dont think we should give up on our country. What message does that send. Where there is darkness, you can be the light. 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 ❤

I just sincerely hope that this story is truly true as if it is then it is truly inspirational although I was heartened to hear that Teresa had finally realized that, however, generous you are you cannot live on fresh air and the countries that Teresa visited are not WELFARE STATE PARADISE'S like the UK - COUGH where the state will pick you up and look after you if your life goes seriously south as it were. In any event the BRITISH WELFARE STATE is very much on BORROWED TIME so becoming entrepreneurial, thinking on your feet and being business like is vital unless you don't mind being destitute! Still, all credit and kudos to Teresa for her generosity of heart as she must have helped a lot of very poor kids which of course is extremely admirable and very inspirational! In due course once all my own ducks are in a row I cannot wait to follow Teresa's example and yes I too would love to give back as they say and do something that is both fun, interesting and engaging - in order to motivate me to keep doing it but more importantly in the long-term of benefit to those around me where I'm living and perhaps with a bit of good planning and organization of benefit far beyond my new home. So Teresa, many, many thanks for such an inspirational video in dark times!

All asian countries charge you at least a pound a day just to reside and there are many things against you. I never waited so long l left UK in june 8th 1988 went to Spain 10 months later went to Portugal, had a company in each country, nothing impeded me and here l am never been back to Blighty. It is a lot easier here than you think it is.

Our country & the people are being attacked, dismantled & torn apart, .. don't leave, everyone needs to stay, do their duty & push back & help make the United Kingdom & British Isles, .. the greatest it has ever been, we can do & must do it.

I'm 19 and will be leaving the UK when I've finished my undergraduate degree and will likely pursue my post-grad in a university in a country I intend to try and settle in. I'm rather left-leaning, and I disagree with the common rhetoric that its 'immigrants' this and 'welfare' that... the UK has always had it worse compared to other developed nations particularly for the majority population (in terms of wealth). The UK still has a very rigid class system and is incredibly classist compared to other nations - now, social mobility does exist and in the information age where it is relatively easy to educate yourself with little resources to get better opportunities means you aren't 'stuck', but even if you get an education in the UK its not really worth staying. UK Salaries are pitiful compared to other developed nations and out of that you get taxed even more. Again, nothing to blame with Welfare, Benefits, the NHS... we need these, people need these, in fact they should be stronger, the issue is that they are structured so inefficiently in terms of organisational structure that most of the tax money goes towards paying for endless layers of paper-pushing middle management rather than the frontline staff and actual pay-outs. The only real hope if staying in the UK is to move to London, that's where all the professional jobs are, but the cost of living is so much that you will have a great job, a larger than average wage but still be effectively stuck in the same position financially and in terms of prospects if you were working part time living in the North. Impossible to afford an lifestyle that allows you to engage in social and cultural activities, impossible to get on the property ladder. I actually got really depressed visiting London the first time because particularly the further you go in, you see where all the nations wealth has been concentrated, you see we all work for the benefit of the privileged few living in the centre of London who have no clue what it is like outside their privileged bubble. ========== However, another issue is lifestyle. Ultimately, no matter where you are, eventually you will feel rutted if like me you enjoy travelling, seeing new places, new experiences and what not. I think the vast majority of humans enjoy the stability that staying in one familiar place, familiar people, familiar jobs give and for them it doesn't matter if its the UK or Thailand, they are happy ultimately and get on with it. Hell, I love travelling in the UK, it is a beautiful country especially when you turn off the news, look past the yobs that are in every country and when the weather is nice, the Peaks, Lake District, Scottish Highlands, just lovely. Lifestyle plays a major part because if I where working full time and barely scraping by anywhere else I would also hate it still, and thats how life is for those who choose that lifestyle because mortgages, insurance, rents, cost of living eat up all your income no matter what. Travelling is a lifestyle in of itself and it is usually done at the sacrifice of putting the mortgage, settled life, cars, career and what not on hold, because the average person can't do both at the same time. For this, I think its less a UK problem mostly and more just a lifestyle problem. We are incredibly privileged here in the West to be able to make these type of lifestyle choices.

We moved out of London and headed to the Netherlands before Brexit kicked in and 4 months before our son was born. Why? To give him the life that we knew would be better than he could ever have in London. We have not looked back. 6 years later and we bought a house and are both established in our jobs. Our boy speaks English, Dutch and Colombian and is making great memories. London feels so beat up and run down the few times we have visited. Shame.

Just been back in UK 7 days after traveling the world more or less 3 years. Brought a van and driving around the roads have holes and are broken in most areas. My beautiful girlfriend in the Philippines province keeps asking me to go and live with her and mother. Got the cash to buy a house but don't feel right about living here even though was born lived 39 years in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. Like you I'm kind of screaming inside but also want to work and make money which is hard to do in Asia and mosquitos love me. Plus the heat

Having paid thousands and thousands of pounds into the NHS, it would be crazy NOT to return to the UK for health reasons. Doesn't mean the UK is the right place to live. Just means that, having been compelled to pay into the system, common sense to get something back from the system, even though the UK itself has become a sh**hole.
