Niko just started working in a small grocery called Martin Grocers, which was owned by Owen and to whom he was immediately attracted to. Owen was quite intimidating and reserved. Niko thought that he was mean to the other employees, except to Niko whom he got along well with. Unfortunately, Owen was Niko’s boss and he felt that it was not right to pursue a relationship with his superior so Niko started dating a fellow employee named Nina. Nina and Niko became inseparable at work and this caused Owen to lash out at Nina due to jealousy and ended up firing her. Finally, Niko admitted his feelings to Owen and they got together. Nina was very displeased by this and when she found out that Owen and Niko were together, she vowed to destroy their relationship, as well as the reputation of the grocery. True enough, Nina exposed Owen’s previous marriage. She asserted that Owen was actually still married to a woman named Francine. Owen explained to Niko that Francine was abusive and that they were separated and Niko forgave him for hiding the truth at first. Niko finally understood why Owen was so reserved since he faced years of abuse from his previous wife. Nina was distraught that the relationship carried on and tried to sabotage Owen and Niko at every turn, creating lots of drama on social media and attempting to destroy the reputation of Owen’s business. In a last-ditch attempt to destroy Owen, Nina set the grocery on fire, but she ended up getting caught and was thrown into jail. Meanwhile, Owen and Niko remained together and the success of Martin Grocer went sky-high.

Everyone sucks in this story. Owen for berating Nina because of jealously, and Niko for using her. I'm bi and I know the struggles of trying to not only figure out who I am, but being open about it, but I absolutely hate it when people deliberately use people as "beards" to hide the truth. That's the most selfish thing that anyone can do and I would never side with people who would do that. That being said, while I did sympathize with Nina at first, but when she started becoming insane. While I get she was hurt, but when she started going crazy and tried to burn the store down is when she had to go. I can't believe she only got a year in jail.

Agreed. I was in a similar situation. I was 12 years older than a guy Tom at work and was the boss. When he started he was 18 and I was 30 and we became friends. Innocently, because he was a poor kid from a trailer in a rich town and they made fun of him. He was about to drop out of high school to contribute more to his family and I helped drag him over the line to high school graduation and helped him get into trade school. We had a routine for me helping him with his homework and me bringing him lunch and taking him home. A few years later our routine hadn't changed much but he got a girlfriend. I tried to be genuinely happy for them because Lainey was a great girl. But our routine began to change. I was gracious but had to remember on Wednesdays and Fridays not to make the extra lunch. Then they had a spat. I stayed out of it and encouraged both. Then on Wednesday and Fridays I started to bring 3 lunches. Then one day Lainey asked why a guy like me didn't have a girlfriend. She tried to set me up with the girl from accounting we had a double date but I just wasn't interested. One day she tried to set me up with another girl who told her she always thought I was gay. Lainey went to Tom who confronted me. He was 24 and I was 36 at the time. He confronted me about whether or not I was gay. I told him yeah he then accused me of attempting to "groom" him. I was like we've been best friends for years that I hadn't tried anything. He asked if I was in love with him as I suggested sometimes it's best not to ask a question that you don't want to know the answer to or down deep already knew what the answer was on some level. He stormed off socked me called he a homo and the next time I apologized if I ever made him feel unsafe. I tried to make the bad situation better by being gracious and avoid them. I apologize to Lainey who apologized to me for accidentally outing me. She encouraged me to try to talk to Tom again to salvage our friendship. I did and he said his mom told him that it was only a matter of time before I tried something on him. But I reminded him that I never did he said he lost faith in people because of me. I told him he shouldn't and I didn't do anything other than fall a guy who was smart, kind, strong and took care of his family. Because of him I saw the best in people. At which point we hugged it out and became cautious distant friends again. I asked about Lainey and he said they broke up. She was leaving for Chicago to intern. The group from work saw her off and had a party and she got a little tipsy and told me that she was sorry for wrecking my life. I told she she was kind and beautiful and did no such thing. She confessed when the rumor mill at work told her that I was gay. It hit her like a ton of bricks. It destroyed her because she saw the signs of the unrequited love between me and Tom. I apologized and told her "I tried to hide it and I". She stopped me and told me I Didn't have to because the sign didn't come from me. She said he admitted to having feelings for me. She encouraged us to talk and eventually we did and got together. But neither of us treated the other badly and the 3 of us are close to this day.

This story was not cute, both Nico and Owen were terrible to Nina. Granted she was awful as well to a higher degree but that was AFTER the abuse and misuse from both of these men. Instead of handling their romantic struggles between each other like adults, instead they put this woman through immense verbal abuse by Owen and emotional neglect by Nico. All three people in this story were disgusting in their own ways, but it all started from from the two main characters.

Nice sentiment, I am hoping to get some assistance in finding a video. I believe it's multiple videos(one story) and can't remember the title. "Brief" synopsis as I remember; single/widowed dad is ok son being gay but doesn't like his "bad boy" boyfriend. She would have gotten move than one year in prison since she would have also been convicted of attempted manslaughter on two accounts. After years in prison, her re admittance into society would be through a system with a parole officer and order of protection to stay away from Owen and the store. Of course the guys, because gays are always better at changing the world of hate into love and self worth, may have offered her a way to work in a branch or friends Buisness or start a rehabilitation program for hate crime convicts who serve time and are remorseful. Better ending than no compassion. At least have an alternative! 😎
