I Was Surprised This Worked.. | Duck Hunting 2022

After two days of duck hunting public land we headed out to do some more scouting in Texas and found a farm pond that was loaded up with pintail, wigeon, gadwall, teal, and ringnecks. We weren't too optimistic about our chances of getting permission given the size of the property but still gave it a shot and after a few questions we were allowed to hunt. We had a front rolling in during the morning with 30 mph north winds which made for some great decoying action and a nice mixed bag. Hope you enjoy!

Enjoy your videos. Maybe it's just me, but your "big" camera had me marveling at your 70 yard shots. Then on the shot cam I realized the perspective difference. If at the beginning of a video you could say how far it is to some landmark, it would really help me relate better. I m also a Virginia duck hunter, albeit a much older one now. Declining health has severely curtailed my activities.

I'm sorry to hear you can't get out as much anymore, my dad has been dealing with the same thing this season. It's given me a much greater appreciation for being able to hunt as often as I like

Him nosing out that pintail just by itself was enough to warrant bringing him. It was 15 degrees with a 20+ mph wind so we didn't want to make him get in the water more than was needed

Thomas I like seeing you hunting away from home knowing the birds back here need a rest from your shooting ability. Congrats on the Sprig. I use to lease a couple ponds around here that kept a good number of Ringnecks on them. We would sneak in and jump shoot them as they tried to get up and every time they would turn and fly back over us providing another chance to limit out. Another great hunt as always from you. Thanks for sharing.

@@HokeOutdoors We knew being divers they needed to run across the water on take off and we d sneak up about halfway of the pond. When they saw us they had no choice but to run towards us and we d work on em pretty good as they came by us. They must not be very smart because once they got up they would always make a 180 and fly back over us 35 - 40 yards up and we'd just about clean out the rest. I liked shooting divers but didn't get the chance often. Always wanted a Canvasback but never saw any while hunting. Hope you have a great season this year.
