2 years ago while duck hunting buddy and I dropped two mallards in our pond and out of nowhere and dog comes through the trees and retrieved my buddies mallard, took back off into the trees and about 2 minutes later a guy and his dog came walking over w his duck 😂 easiest retrieve of the season lol

I always enjoy your videos. No crappy music, just nice measured commentary. Nice. It is also great to see your accuracy with the 28ga. I see all these folks using 3 1/2". I use a 50 year old 870 or 1100 both of which I bought new, with 2 3/4" and can keep up with the 3 1/2" shooters any day. Just need to put it on the target - and you my friend have got that part down. Happy hunting!

ive actually had that happen before, guys set up about 200 yards from us, there dog went running down the bank, went and got one of our ducks, the owner brought it to us later, in return we gave him his cripple that swam into our dekes. looked like a super fun hunt, although i would have been on the other side with the sun on my back and in those ducks eyes and out of my eyes

When I was hunting in marshes near Galveston in the 1970s, that mallard drake duck you're holding was a 100 points, ending your day of hunting.

@@HighPrairieSportsmen We go as far as we could in a WWII jeep, wade the rest of the way, bail out the blind, decoys were already set, fight mosquitos and wait for sunup. It would look like a huge fire with all the ducks and snow geese rising off the marshes to fly to the rice fields. The man I hunted with could remember in the 1950s there were so many birds in the air when they come up it would get dark again. We shot pin tail, teal a hard bird to hit, mallard, but never a spoon bill they tasted like fish. The snow geese were so high never brought one down. A commercial blind, was about half mile away and the urban hunters would jump up a start shooting at a snow goose that was on oxygen flying over the blind. I normally went home with 10 birds, what I didn't dress I gave to several older men that couldn't hunt anymore.

I am planing on getting a Tristar G2 Silver 28guage. It will weigh 5lbs. What choke will work best for Ducks and geese. Planning to hunt snow geese later. I will be shooting over decoys 40-35 yards. Any advice would be appreciated. Have a Tristar Bristol 28 guage, amazing on pheasants. Looking at the Viper G2 Silver because it. Weighs 5lbs (26"barrel).

I got rid of my Tristar because of jamming issues. With a 28 ga, you want to decoy them with 10-25 yds generally.

I was on a public hunting area and cut fresh pheasant tracks, I was following the tracks for a few minutes and a pointer came out of the brush and locked up about 15 yards in front of me, I got behind the dog and said "get em'", the dog flushed a rooster, I shot him, the dog brought him to me, dropped the bird in my hand and ran away, back the way he came from.
