Hey Thoren, just wanted to say thanks man. I lost my brother 2 weeks ago to an overdose and I felt like I was losing my fucking mind. I don't know what it was about this channel but sparked something in me so yesterday I went out and bought a cheap ass ewing axe and cut my first tree down today. I understand it now. The feeling that you get whenever you're working you're f****** dick in the dirt, and you got blisters all over your hands and it's like drizzling outside and you're just sweating your ass off, and you know that you can't quit because you can visibly see the progress that you made in the tree, and then once you finally start here in that first crack from your back cut and it starts talking to you,.... I don't know how to say it without sounding corny but it was the first time that I actually felt like awake and completely present. I just want to say thanks man you may not get to see the positive that your channel is doing, but whether you see it or not man it's happening and I just want to tell you I truly do appreciate this channel man

Hey bro I'm so sorry to hear about your brother and from an overdose, wow that's really really hard to go through something like that I can only imagine. I'm addicted to fentanyl it's a real tough one man. God bless you and your family 🙏

Keep it up, bud. Sorry about your brother. Time will heal. Swinging an axe as hard as you can as healing as hell though. :)

The thing is that chopping axes also split firewood, although they are not designed for that, but sometimes they do the trick. The video was funny, hehe.
@jeffarp74092 ай бұрын
My dad used to split wood with a chopping ax like that, accept he had a trick instead of letting it get stuck in the wood. When he would swing as soon as the cutting edge of the ax hit the wood he would twist his wrist and the side of the ax would hit and help split the wood and keep from sticking. It all happens in one motion, and is very hard to do. But he was pretty good at it.

i didnt find it very hard to learn i saw this trick on buckinbillyray's youtube chanel

Hardened with lubricant and cobalt most likely. Very expensive designed for both, I wouldn't risk hitting the head though, tempered throws metal chunks when used as a wedge axe.

Love using a skinny axe on dry wood, it just splits apart. Use that same force on green wet wood and the bit sinks in a few inches and it ain't comin out.

If the wood is super dry, the chopping axe being so much sharper will slice right through it. I notice the biggest difference when the wood is soaked, or twisted gum or something like that. That’s when the mauls come out

Chopping axes suck to use on freshly cut green wood, but once the wood dries a bit it blows right through it
@ThorenBradley9 ай бұрын
I am NOT trying to tell you I told you so here. But just for context. This is oak. And oak is easier to split when green. And this wood is green here.
@Steve-st4gf9 ай бұрын
@ThorenBradley 100% agree, I'm just saying, I wouldn't use a cutting axe over a maul or thicker profile axe head with green wood, unless only tool in the shed, I've split wood professionally for a good part of 20 years, I do like the way a cutting axe head blows through wood that has been bucked up and sitting for a bit, but we all regret the battle between them big knotty hardwood pieces and all we have is a cutting axe
