I Was Teaching my Daughter All Wrong...
What determines a "good" day? For 37 years it's been how well I performed that day, how much I had gotten done. How much I could check off my list. I was also teaching this way of thinking to my children without even realizing it. I recently have had my eyes opened that my day being "good" or "bad" shouldn't come from my performance that day, but from the things that truly matter in my life. Waking up with good health, spending time with my wife and kids, having a God who loves me and saved me. Those things alone qualify a good day. I’m 27 and now just realizing the lies told to me by my dad. It’s not about how productive you can be, it’s about how much time you spend with your family and see the good in everyday. It will be a long road to healing, but it glad you recognized that now because us girls look up to our parents and everything you say and do writes in us how we are to be as adults

This is something I’m trying to show my husband currently. He has ADD and Asperger’s and constantly feels the need to work. Even when we go out to do something fun like hiking he feels the need to turn it into work. I’m trying to show him how to slow down and just enjoy the simple things God has given us. If he doesn’t feel like he’s working he feels worthless. It’s difficult but he is making progress! ❤️
