It isn't a generic phone thing (well I guess it is now). Android introduced it as a feature years ago, then apple finally introduced it recently. Older iphones, and much older androids don't have the feature. My old sony phones I used to use back in like 2012 had the double tap on the back, but the tech was still new back then and caused the back to heat up badly

The "hack" at 9:17 is only partly true. Yes Iphones do have a function where you can double tap the back to activate a command but it isn't solely the apple if you tap anywhere on the back of the iphone with the correct pressure it will activate what ever you've set including if you have a case on. I have an iphone and use the back tap function to bring my screen down when I tap the back to help when I'm having mobility issues in my hand

The last one does work with a case cause it’s not the apple icon at the back that does it. It’s just called backtap. If you tap 2 times on the back of your phone it can do what you want it to do & you can also do it 3 times and set something else.
