“It was like voluntary torture because you can't sleep, can't socialize, you can't move properly”
“I genuinely thought my life was over when I stopped taking steroids and my face was that red dragon skin.”
Laura was in her 20’s socialising, partying, enjoying life
Her eczema came back with a vengeance
The Dr prescribes steroids
Laura slathered steroids all over her body
This suppressed the inflammation and rashes
Easy solution right?!
UNTIL...
“It was at the peak when everything was locked down.
I hadn't used any steroids and I couldn't get more.
I was panicking, then obviously started to go through Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW)
I was severely unwell, it was one of the most difficult periods in my life.
I thought it was the end of my life.
I'll never be able to do anything ever again.
Even by the end of the eight months
the skin was still flaky and broken
I just felt really inadequate.
I remember having quite a lot of battles with my femininity.
I didn't feel like a woman with my skin.”
Have you been through TSW?
Or feel like you get a flare up every time you stop steroids?
I’d love to hear your experience.

Moral of the story?
Use steroids responsibly (only short term).
So you don’t have to go through the torture of TSW like Laura.
Guess what...
Even after going through TSW
You still need to deal with the initial problem
The inflammation that caused the eczema in the first place.
