Honestly the fact that some brands offer a "short" length to their jeans has significantly improved so many of our shopping experiences 😭
@Gomba13

Now, if they could also do away with the assumption that slim and skinny people don’t have butts with curves, that would make me happy. Pretty tired of finding jeans that are the right size and length but that crush my butt because apparently there is an assumption that slim/skinny people are bony. And what's up with legs getting shorter the smaller the size of the jeans?

Wish the same applied to long legs. It's a struggle to find any jeans and pants that fit me. Apparently if you have long legs, you're also very big. Long legs and skinny is apparently not "normal", yet it is for many of us. ALL body shapes are normal.

@@ts4686 you'd need the asian jeans. they often have long skinny legs naturally so I am guessing their shops will have lots of jeans like that. For me that would be a disaster xD I have short legs, thick to fat thighs and wiiiiide hips with a decent butt. My pants are always too long and if they're not elastic my thighs and ass usually won't fit. That's why I gave up on finding jeans .-. now it's just stretchy fake jeans.

I’m 5.3, with short legs and a long torso. I found this very helpful. I’m not happy to hear that short rise is coming back, I lived through low rise in the 90’s! at my age, I’ve finally learned to wear what suits me, instead of being a slave to trends.

I'm also short, don't care about trends and am pretty sure I'm a low rise kind of person. The problem is because of stupid fashion trends I haven't been able to find pants for the last five years or so! I hope low rise comes back so I can at least stock up for the next up-to-your-bra fashion phase.

My biggest frustration is cut. I feel best in a looser skinny jean or straight leg jeans, but it seems like you can only get shrink wrap jeggings or boot cut. I know retailers tend to follow trends. It's hard when your style isn't trendy at the moment. And why does almost nobody make a 99% cotton jean? The ones with a ton of synthetic don't wear well long term. I'm 5" 1' and have drifted towards high rise over time. It feels the most flattering on my stomach. It's my biggest body insecurity.

Actually you can. It's not exact but anything listed as brief or high cut would be more of a "high waist". Boy short/ cheeky is more mid range and bikini or thong is usually "low rise". I've worked in clothing for years and there is some method to the madness. You just need to know what terms you are looking for to help you determine the fit. Happy undie hunting lol.

@@sfudge ohh yeah it's definitely not an exact science but it is useful. So is measuring the same with your fave jeans. Try it with undies that hit you just right and keep that tape measure in your purse. Lots of stores like Victoria's Secret, Torrid even some stock at Target,TJ Maxx etc don't package their undergarments so they are accessible for measuring. I know it has saved me tons of $$ especially since most times items like that are final sale.

I have a high rise and because of this I have to buy a lot of pants with a high rise very soon, because since low-rise pants are going to be the new fashion hype in the near future, it means that every store is only going to sell low-rise pants and almost nothing else (that's how it works here in the Netherlands). I wish stores would choose for more variety.

I was scared of that happening but I don't really see it becoming reality. It's been a while since low-rise has been pronounced 'back' and high-rise options are still widely available. @Ballaurena13
@Ballaurena13 10 ай бұрын
Yes. Same problem here with high rise pants looking ridiculous - jeans aren't supposed to have an empire waist. I haven't noticed myself to have a particularly short upper half considering my height, but she looks proportionately longer in the upper torso than me, perhaps because her legs are shorter, or my lower abdomen is proportionately taller. Of note too, though, I just bought some "mid -rise" jeans a couple days ago, but tonight I stumbled upon a definition for the different rises and realized that those alleged "mid-rise" jeans I just got fit the Internet description of "high-rise" (at or above the belly button) So her terminology has multiple possibly interpretations.

With high rise pants, skirts, jeans, etc it looks like someone cut out a section of me and stuck my boobs right over my bottom 1/2. This was SO informative! I hired a stylist about six years ago, and she chose skirts that “fell” at my natural waist line and made me look like I was disproportionate. Your videos are so helpful. I found you last weekend and I try to watch one of your videos daily so I can learn how to dress to flatter my petite shape and not hide it. I am a little under 5 foot and I have short muscular legs. I enjoy summer because I can wear shorts and skirts so people can see them but in fall/winter inhave always felt I look short and stalky, and a bit chunky because inhave an athletic frame. I just went our today and bought 4 pairs of mid rise jeans using your tips. Not only did they look nice on me but they are so comfortable to wear. I am so glad that I no longer have the muffin tops. Most of the current styles I have tried to buy are the lower rise jeans and they just accentuated my muffin tops. High rise are way too high on me. For the first time in a long time I have confidence. I have been using your tips with my current wardrobe and feeling more confident in how I look. Thanks so much. 🙏

5’ 3” here, short torso and long legs. I love high rise jeans, but to find high rise jeans that fit, the rise measurement has to be 12 inches! Even being slim, an hourglass figure is hard to fit in the jeans world. I don’t like low rise, cause the small of my back gets cold LOL!

The trends really indicate what’s coming to stores, too. It was impossible to find high-rise jeans for about 15 years, now teenagers have never known anything else, so they’re snapping up the low and mid-rise styles. I hope we will always have choices, unlike in the past.

I have a relatively small waist, but quite a big lower belly and if I wear a high rise, it cradles my tummy and kind of presents it to the world. Like, " Here you go world, her tummy sticks out and I'll emphasize that for you!" . Whereas a mid rise kind of cuts across my tummy horizontally and breaks up the sticky outty bit so it's not quite so obvious 😚

I love a high rise and cropped legs style. I imagine it's a 1950s style. However my weight has gone up and down. High rise I think fits an hourglass figure. But I liked it on me being a slimmer build too. Slightly loose fit.

I'm just under 5'0". The overall shape, created by the pattern maker of the pair of jeans, matters because except for length, that is hard to tailor later. We are lucky that today there are many more 'fits' to choose from. Mid-rise works best for me; high rise is just too high. I have long slender legs and a slightly shorter torso length. Width-wise, Skinny fit or boyfriend jeans look best. Wide jeans add too much bulk for me. This entire year, I have ONLY worn Silver Jeans cuffed cropped boyfriend. (I had to cut the hem and fold to be above the ankle) - one distressed pair and one medium blue with no distressing. These have worked with EVERY look from dressy to casual, and they go with the usual petite girl shoes: ankle boots, short western boots, lug sole boots, wedge sandals or platform sneakers.

I'm kinda petite but also not, so it was always a challenge for me to find jeans that fit well. After i watched the video I realized all the jeans I owned were Mid Rise and whenever I want to buy new pants I always prefer Mid Rise. Low Rise makes my belly pop up and High Rise makes me look like a rectangle and destroy my figure.

I used to hate high rise, even as a kid, it wasn't comfortable on me. Low rise was in style when I was a teen, and my friend taught me a great shopping hack to tell if the pants were low rise. If they were longer than a hand's length from the crotch to waist, they were too high! Now in my 30's I appreciate high rise bottoms. I just can't have it too high, or it throws off my proportions, as my waist isn't super defined and I'm only 5'.

I honestly can't stand the high rise trend for my body. I have a slightly shorter waist and high rise makes me look squat and fatter around the middle...like I have no midsection. I can't wait for lower and mid rise to come back in style because it makes me look longer and leaner with a thinner waist. Another absolute no is tucking tops in. The best I can do is a half tuck. I see a lot of people wearing high rise and super high rise jeans and it looks awful on them imo. It may look slightly flattering from the front, however, they look like they have a super big and long bum from behind, and many look like they have a tummy from the side view with all that extra bulky material in the front.

I had to stop in my scroll track, seeing your humor 😄 I watched, although not petite like you. I'm somewhere between petite but lean more towards normal, with my longer torso, shorter leg action. Odd, I know. It is what it is and always a hunt for the right fit 🥱. Probably best to take along a small measuring tape to measure the correct inches 💭 once you do know it! Have fun! 😊

This is helpful. When I was a teen and super skinny, I used to always buy high rise slim fit jeans. Now that I am older and apple shaped, being 5'2" with long legs and a high waist and short torso as well as being amply curvy, it's really hard to find jeans that fit. I can't often buy petites because the legs are too short. I have to size up to fit my waist, and then the butt and thighs end up being baggy, it's a challenge for sure. It's hard to find jeans to fit all those curves just the right way. Thank goodness for cotton jeans that are mixed with spandex that have some give so you can move and breathe, and bend over to tie those shoelaces!

Great informative video! Thank you!! I'm a petite woman and years ago, back in high school I would always wear low-rise jeans. When I started getting curves, low rise jeans just seemed to fit weird and I would wear high waist because it was popular and it would reach so high which also looked weird. I will definitely keep in mind to measure the rise of my favorite jeans so all my future jeans will be my favorite!

I don't mind having things higher on my torso, but most things that are labeled "high-rise" go up to my breast, even many "petite" labeled items. I am 4'11 so "low-rise" was "mid-rise" or even "high-rise". I'm glad that I can find more options now than the past 8+ years.

It’s tough, I’m 5’4.5”, but my lower torso is the long part of my torso. Petite pants don’t work on me, the rise is too low, but regular pants are always way too long in the legs, aargh! I wish pants weren’t always in the 33-36” inseam length, I have to shorten them by up to ten inches! Ridiculous.
