@elaineb70653 ай бұрын
I'd say double it. 21 cups a week is 3 a day, enough to get her one at breakfast (her cereal of choice), one at break (she'd have her fave crisps here), & one at lunch (most likely a sandwich or two). She'd stick to water in the afternoon, & at dinner, Sundays & a couple of other times she'd have some wine, Fridays (her junk food day) she'd have a couple of soft drinks, & the rest of the time she'd just have water. Late at night while relaxing on a weeknight with her shows & socials, she'd drink something like hot chocolate or malted milk, with a biscuit or two.

My grandparents ONLY drank tea, although usually really weak. Never felt caffeine impacts my sleep (though to be fair, I have odd sleep patterns no matter what I do), in fact I sleep better as it flushes the kidneys so I'm less likely to wake up with kidney pains. Bottom line, I'm more likely to sleep better if I hydrate well through the day no matter what I drink (except alcohol of course).

The fact that Emma thinks that everything including socks and underwear need ironed is the main reason why Emma and not michael who is doing the ironing. When I lived alone, the only thing I bought an iron for was "business smart" shirts. Even then I discovered the trick to hang them on a hanger while wet and they dry crease free, so the iron only came out for super special meetings.

Which is also why women spend more time doing housework than men. Women seem to find housework that needs doing out of nowhere. Same with my laundry. When I lived alone, used to only do it once a fortnight. Once I met my wife, she's finding laudry to do 2 or 3 times a week 😵

@@JiminyClarkson As a man who lives alone, I find that laundry generally needs doing Roughly three times in two weeks... It could be pushed out to once a week if I had a larger washing machine (and washing line). If I was doing it less often I'd be doing two loads at a time. Still, I know some of that is down to some personal habits regarding how long I wear specific things between washing them which Could be done differently.... but part of it is simply down to the existence of bed sheets. Basically, there's a sheet that needs washing every week (not two, mind you), and it takes up enough space in the washing machine that a whole week's worth of other stuff won't fit in with it. I also know of quite a number of women who just... don't do housework unless someone else is all but forcing them to, even when they live alone and Really Really should. It's not entirely a matter of what sex one is. Generally speaking, there are a number of household chores that it's better to get on top of quckly and often, because it takes less time and causes less stress (not to mention any other relevant benefits)... and then there's the ones that only need to be done once a week or so... and the ones that only need to be done infrequently when the reach the point where not doing them would be a problem... If you treat the first category as if it was the last, you're going to end up having problems eventually, but the same is true (if usually less catastrophically) in reverse, too.

Some context for the Christian country thing - It's a fact that the UK is a Christian country. We have a state religion. It's just that most people don't believe in it. So i can quiet easily imagine people answering yes to that question while also answering they're not a believer.
@franklingoodwin3 ай бұрын
Wrong. Our head of state is Christian. That doesn't make us a Christian country. There's a difference between culturally Christian and actually Christian. We are culturally Christian (not even real Christianity because Church of England). We are a secular country. @@franklingoodwin The audacity to start your comment with "wrong" and then basically agree with me. I literally said the majority were secular. “The U.K.” doesn’t actually have a state religion. England and Scotland have different established churches, the monarch is head only of the C of E and when he crosses the border becomes merely a member of the Church of Scotland and has no position in it or authority over it. You might remember that was demonstrated at Charles’ investiture when he had to affirm the monarch’s oath not to interfere with the exercise of religion in Scotland? That oath was one of the conditions of the Union, and came about because both of Charles’ 17th century namesakes had tried to force the Scots to recognise their authority over religion - resulting in near civil war and (under Charles II) a major campaign of repression that killed thousands of civilians.

If we confine ourselves to heterosexual relationships, and assume that the ration of male to female is very close to equal, then it is mathematically impossible for the average (mean) male to have 5 female partners and for females to have an average of 3 partners. Of course, the mode or median can yield different results, but even so it's a big disparity. Maybe if that was the median, then a relatively small number of women working in the sex industry could cause a very large discrepancy, but I have my doubts (after all, a lot of men are customers in that very same industry). My suspicion is that the large discrepancy is more about differences in the way men and women respond to the survey and that the answers are not necessarily accurate.

Ah yes, the deeply misleading label of ‘owns home’ when the only thing they own is debt. 😅 But, they’re allowed to *live* in the home that the bank owns and which they are working to hopefully own some day, assuming no loss of income occurs for too long in a 30 year period. Because if that happens, they have to file a form with the government to have all of their housing data for surveys/reports like these to be retroactively changed to ‘renter’.

A huge lie we all fell for,well not me as despite storming the gates,back 50 years ago,the Gatekeepers put me in the picture. You're a Girlie,girlies don't do things like that. Yes,you earn loadsa money - but you no gotta man. So go away and shut up. Besides its raining,and it's Tuesday. All good valid reasons why you can't use your money to buy a house to live in. Not as investment. I feel sad to see how so many young people who back in the day,like all my (paired up) peers would be already living in the house they'd signed up for,are now turned I to ME,at home with Mum and Dad to 50+.

Incorrect. You technically own the home, the bank doesn't have their name on the deeds do they? But you do also own the debt of the loan the bank has secured against the property.

4:40 - BMI is a metric tuned for men and shouldn't be used to determine obesity in women.
@PansyPopsАй бұрын
1) Yes, it was designed mainly considering men. 2) I wouldn’t even say it should be used to judge obesity. There are too many factors for it to be considered accurate - genetics, muscle, diet, etc. As a very rough estimate then sure, but you can have a fast metabolism and be a healthy weight while living an unhealthy lifestyle (lots of sugar, fatty foods, little-no exercise). Equally you may have a slow metabolism and be slightly overweight despite living fairly healthily (decent diet, 10k steps daily, etc). _Plus it’s from the 1900s and wasn’t even created by medical experts. That’s another kettle of fish._

Here it is actually for once used exactly as it is meant to be... Statistically. It is too imprecise for individualised medical advice or to draw too strong conclusions from, but is sound enough for comparing rates of obesity or malnourishment across populations.
@CiCodiCadno3 ай бұрын
Eh, less nonsense, more misunderstood and misappropriated. It's the same as IQ. Both work from a purely statistical standpoint because humans like neat little boxes. Neither work from a practical application standpoint because humans like neat little boxes, which humans, by nature of being literally of nature, are too messy to stay inside.

Super interesting topic! As a Canadian who's lived a few years in the US and France, I love learning about what a typical person's life in similar countries looks like and how they compare. It's amazing how much knowing just a few basics of different cultures changes your views and the ability to relate to others! Some things are fascinating like some of the similar dynamics NZ and Canada have because of having much larger geopolitical giants as essentially their only neighbour, in my case seeing the unique blend of cultures Canada and in particular Québec has from the US, UK and France, the stereotypes vs realities that different regions will have of the western super-powers like the US, UK, France and Germany etc.

It takes quite a bit to get through a bag of pasta, a tub of butter and a bag of flour. So I take it you don't go to the supermarket very often. In fact, even in our fortnightly 'big shop' we don't get pasta and flour every time. I go at least a couple of times a week or maybe more often to the mini supermarket around the corner to get things that go off quickly like milk, bread, ham etc. Something not quite right about your list. I don't believe you are the one in charge of shopping and are randomly guessing weird items.
