A couple of things that would piss me off , the crease , I don't have to put up with that on a slab phone. Also the narrow form factor which for some one with big fingers and large ish hands makes typing on the front narrow screen unbearable meaning the device nearly always has to be opened up. Also, no S pen function on the front screen. As for durability , i don't mean to be argumentative, but 6 months is still nearly new , i'm still rocking my S8+ at 5 years old and it is still pristine and works like a beauty , also my note 9, Also pristine and looks like it will see 5 years out also no worries. seeing the screen protector on the fold failing at 6 months , how much longer will the bending screen last ? I would not be optimistic it would last a year or 1.5 years out , and these things cost a small fortune. You couldn't pay me to own a fold.

There are settings for the keyboard and you can have a split layout on the inner screen which makes typing much easier & better. Great video 👍 I basically felt the same after using my Fold2 for a while. The main cam is actually really good as it's the same as on the S21 only tele and ultra-wide are subpar.

I got the Fold 3 when it came out and I was so excited. After using it not so much. The top screen is so small and acts like it's own phone. Apps run differently on the top vs the bigger screen. The aspect ratio on both screens are horrible. Not worth paying for to have black bars while watching anything. Yes you can expand the picture but then you lose some of the screen. You chop peoples heads off or you cant see whats going on the sides of the screen. Plus there are apps that don't like the screen ratio and don't run right. Over all it's nice 3 out of 5 stars.I went and got the S22 Ultra and I'm very happy.

Swyping on the front screen helps a lot, and with the larger screen instead of the full keyboard, resize it to about half size but a little wider than the cover screen makes it so you can type/swype with one hand with even better accuracy than on the cover screen. Then for more typing intensive episodes I use a bt keyboard

My screen protector never peeled tho (Environment prolly have something to do with it, I'm in Australia) I've dropped it many times, from my shorts, more than my S10+ (my last phone) probably because it's heavy and thin. Considering I use it to work on & instead of grabing my surface or going to my desktop, it shocks me battery last at least 14 to 16 hrs before charging. Like you, I open & shut it so many times a day and I'm not doing it with kit gloves. The Fold crease has not increased over the past year like I thgt it might. My Z Fold 3 dropped out of my pocket as I was getting out of a van. It dropped onto concrete and my life flashed before my eyes. I picked it up fearing the worst, and honestly, there's one very tiny faint dent (very very faint) on the left bezel of the cover screen, and you would only ever notice it if I pointed it out to you and you held it at the right angle in the right light.

Completely agree. Would just add launcher options as another disadvantage. As someone who loves to create personal layouts and designs, its a shame that custom launchers like Nova aren't properly supported (more an issue with the third party launchers than it is a Samsung one though). Other than that, using the Z Fold 3 has really raised the bar in terms of the user experience and usability.
@PSYCHOV3N0M
@PSYCHOV3N0M 2 жыл бұрын
Z Fold 3 hasn't raised the bar. My Galaxy S22 Ultra can literally see more content during web browsing, gaming, and watching movies. Samsung keeps using garbage aspect ratios on both displays of the Z Fold 2 and 3. At least the 1st gen Galaxy Fold's 4.6-inch outer display had a 21:9 aspect ratio just like the Huawei Mate X2. Such a step backwards with the Z Fold series having 5:4 aspect ratio while the Galaxy Tab S7 and S8 series all have 16:10 aspect ratio. Makes no sense. The Galaxy Flex S should come out and hopefully it'll take a shit all over the Z Fold series.
@all4ndee
@all4ndee 2 жыл бұрын
@@PSYCHOV3N0M when it comes to video consumption, I'd understand that the additional height on the S22 would fill out the screen a lot better. Especially, with the odd aspect ratio of the z fold 3 as you mentioned. But it's hard to believe that the z fold 3 wouldn't have more real estate for things like Web browsing, gaming, and especially multitasking. That being said, I haven't personally tried the S22, but coming from the S21 ultra, I definitely feel like I'm benefitting from the extra real estate. In terms of the bar that is being raised, I'm speaking more in terms of pushing the limits for general consumer electronics. I think it's important for companies to continue to innovate and compete with designs and technologies. The galaxy s flex is just another example of that. I feel like because of how well received the z fold 3 was, companies have this new baseline to look at and continue to explore and push the limits.

In terms of durability, I once slipped on some ice on my driveway, with phone in hand, landed on it with my hand, and nothing. It was fine and I'm 6'3", 200lbs+ so to say this thing ISN'T durable is hard to swallow. People DONT worry about the Fold breaking when dropped. People worry about longevity. There are tons of reports about the display breaking after as soon as less than a year. And THIS is just unacceptable for such high price tags. A phone this price should last a long time but with these screens it's impossible to buy them used or sell them because there's a high chance of the screen breaking soon. On a normal phone this just isn't an issue. And seriously, 4h SoT with 15% left is RIDICULOUSLY BAD. This is on par or even worse than the iPhone 12 mini and people complained about this a LOT.

You act like playstation and xbox dont have problems with their consoles, IT HAPPENS nothing being manufactured is perfect, theres gonna be some defects and sometimes people have a bad experience, not the same for everyone

I've been using a fold 3 as well since early December and I fully agree with all of your points, it's not at all annoying to use and my friends always tell me your list of deal breakers and none of them are nearly as bad as they seem. I do disagree with your opinion on the keyboard, personally I love it. Closed phone is great for one handed quick texts and open phone 2 handed is great for long texts. However, I make monster and bang cans look like normal cans (when I'm holding them). Great video 👍

Yeah this is true. Most people hate on this phone so they speak on facts the do not know, like the crease. Samsung had the consumer in mind, thats why THEY cant see the crease straight on, only the clowns looking from the outside perspective see that crease, cause, who cares about them💀🤣

Maybe try split Mode on samsung keyboard? It's a beast Mode for that. Just try it and You will Love it after few minutes. Also I would recommend GoodLock apps (or FineLock if the first one is not available for You). After You DL it try to change navigation buttons inside of it putting check mark near Z Fold option :)

6 months later and I love it! Great video I agree with everything you said. The 2 things I don't like are the keyboard which causes soooooo many typos and the screen protector is absolute trash. Mine cracked down the middle and samsung tried to say it was user caused damage smh. I've just ordered a new one off of Amazon because none of the Samsung recommended repair shops even carry one. Thank you for making a great review at just under 7 mins it was perfectly timed! Keep up the great work! I'm now a sub!

I was really satisfied with my fold and I totally agree with everything you stated in this video. However I returned my fold. Why you may ask? Because I noticed after a few weeks that I wasn’t really using the fold in the way that you should. I didn’t use the main screen, instead for the most part I used the cover screen.

totally agree, the front screen is a nightmare for typing, I rather use my Note 9 also the cases for Fold are weird, especially the front side, they push the screen protector off all the time, while the hinge is completely exposed, and there are cases with hinge cover but then you can't have a flat back when you open up the phone I bought a S Pen Pro for the phone, expecting someone would make gadgets for it, but they only made phone cases for Fold S Pen, that was disappointing

I would rate this phone as the most well executed design any technology company has ever released including the original iPhone. I get about 6.5 hours screen on time which is fine. I wouldn't complain. The screen quality is easily the best of any device. Mr. JWW has a video of the new yellow Porsche GT3. The Fold 3 is my only device including my iPhone 12, Galaxy Tab 7+ and OLED laptop where I can see clearly the orange undertones in the signal yellow paint color. On all other devices its just yellow. Pro tip: a phone holster is a must have for this phone. The one where the phone sids sideways and just slides in and out. It's too heavy for your pants pockets so it will fall out. I have the holsters for the Fold 2 and Fold 3. The Fold 2 holster is slightly larger which gives you a little more room for the case and makes to easier to slide in and out. The best case I have is the official Samsung case made of Aramid composite. It's the strongest and lightest. For the spine I made scratch protector hack and added a holder for fold pen by cutting it off another case and attaching it to the camera side of the case. This allows it to double as a grip where I can hold phone more securely. I like the S Fold Pen because its more like a full sized pen and not a Galaxy Note pen that's like a toothpick in my hands. I also added the UV glued tempered glass screen protector for the outside display. The screen protector for the main screen is still spotless. No air bubble or scratches. I've dropped this phone a few times not a scratch and I agree it's more durable than a regular slab phone because the main screen is always protected when folded. But you really need something as high quality as the Aramid case with screen protector because getting this phone repaired is a hassle. Based on the only tear down video I've seen you really have to be a very experienced tech to take this phone apart without screwing something else up. And how many of these techs even have time with this phone if all they fix is iPhone. My favorite use for the Fold 3 is in the car on the special phone mount that charges wirelessly. It's basically like having a media console in your car. I insert it into the holder upside down to avoid wireless charging (camera side on the top) and just plug in with one of those type c cables with the green LED so I can see its fast charging without needlessly heating up the battery. With a fast charge cigarette plug it charges very quickly. Cables make a difference I've seen some charge only 700 ma while the green get 2400 ma's.

fold 3 is the perfect phone...you have a decent camera smartphone, an awesome small light and easy to handle tablet for couch surfing and gaming, and with dex you turn any smart tv to an android desktop...it is beautiful, powerful, very durable and with the recent price drops, easily the best value for money on high end smartphones. OneUI is above all competition making multitasking effortless. I have it more than 6 months now and never had a single issue with it. Samsung nailed it with the 3 can't wait to see what the future generations will have

For the keyboard in tablet mode I have the keys split. I find it very useful and I'm able to type normal speed. You should give it a try. The first day was kind of weird but then it made sense. Definitely would recommend typing that way than full screen. Keeps you from holding it a weird way trying to type full screen, when you can just have it half on the left and the other half on the right.

If the front screen gets wider, the inner screen would also have to be bit wider, and that would make tipping more complicated.

I love my fold 3. It's not heavy to imo. I went to best buy and held iPhone 13 pro max an it felt lite and kinda small. I have average size fat fingers. The front display can be a bit small for less than a handful of apps. The typing experience is a bit problematic because of the fact I have a case on it. But, otherwise it's the best phablet I've ever owned. PS, I could care less about the cameras, I only use them for taking upclose pictures of my dispatch info for the shipper since I'm a truck driver. If need something better to take pictures with, then I'll grab my s21 ultra.

Thank you so much for mentioning the typos w this keyboard. I thought I was just losing my "touch". But maaan the typos and reduced speed w this thing is insanely obnoxious. Not quite a deal-breaker, but if I HAD to name something, especially now knowing it's not just me, I'd say the typing is the crux to this device. And the lack of pen storage. The phone covers and accessories that attempt to solve the pen storage issue are just not there yet, and I've bought at LEAST 10 covers trying to find the perfect solution, which hasn't come to the market as far as I'm concerned. But thanks for the update and I'm hopeful future models/updates will address these annoyances.

Paid more for this phone last year than any other in my life, and I'm old, but no regrets at all. First of all I got great trade in values for my old phones one of which I no longer used. Secondly the screen is just unbeatable. I use my phone as a bedroom TV and reading and screen size is important. I agree with your major points that the negatives are blown way out of proportion and are easily forgiven to have all the benefits. You didn't mention the pen and for me that was the main reason I purchased this version. I use it constantly. It's a bigger pen than the Note pen and helps keep the screen clean by keeping the fingers off the screen.

Turn on Samsung Voice input.... Settings... General Management...Keyboard list and management... then turn on "Samsung Voice input"... allows you to long press on space bar, then speak and your voice is converted to text! Great feature and pretty much eliminates the issue of typing on a narrow screen, unless you're in a noise environment.

You nailed everything word for word about how I feel about this phone. I could never go back to a candy bar phone and it replaces alot of other devices since this phone is Versatile. And alot of the complaints are from ppl that don't have the phone or looking for click bait. I stop using a case on my fold3 after a month of owning it and yes I've drop it but no damage. It's really built like a tank and feels (looks) very premium

0:44 So much this. Overblown massively. People see a piece of tech they desperately want. They see it's new, their lizard brain craves it. But they can't afford it, or it doesn't fit into the budget, or it's not a responsible purchase, or their partner would never let them. So to kill the FOMO, and kill the craving, they start talking about a crease they've never seen in person, durability that has been tested by Zach's channel and this one, and is better than many glass slabs, aspect ratio, and whatever other bull they can pull from their rear. These aren't real meaningful concerns. They're someone trying to mitigate their FOMO and lack of access by claiming they don't want it. "I never wanted those grapes anyway. They're likely sour." This thing is the future of mobile phones, the same way the glass slab became the de facto form factor.
