You know how writers " see" and things " come to them"? There is a very very fine line between a vision and something that happens in the bra UK ns of some people. True visions are tailored to the iij interpretive brain of the receiver. No one else. Unless you are Mormon, lds, whatever it is this month, then 1 person ONLY has the RIGHT to prophecy fir the masses. And HE hasn't said anything.

Jared, I think you missed the boat on this one. The only thing you proved was that Joseph F Smith didn't have the vision and that he thought the vision of the 3 horses was trash (whatever vision that was). Wilford Woodruff obviously thought it important enough to write the vision in his journal and it does coincide with what the scriptures prophesy concerning the last days (wars, plagues, pestilence, famine, etc. and the nature of man - 2 Timothy 3). Also, our modern apostles have said that the tribulation the early saints went through was a cakewalk compared to what is coming in the future. I think that many people don't like the content of the vision so they don't want it to be true and look for anything to discredit it - that's what I'm seeing here. Someone had the vision and someone wrote it down, yet you're saying it's a false vision with no real evidence. Time will tell if it is true or not. Let's just follow President Neilsen's admonitions to get spiritually and temporally prepared and see how it all plays out.

Agreed. I believe the vision could be true, we just don't know how the Lord will lay desolate the cities in his judgements. Elder Orson Hyde taught: “The scripture says, that in the last days His people will go forth and build up the waste places of Zion. But they must first be made desolate, before they can be called ‘the waste places of Zion.’ Then the hands of the Saints will be required to build them up.” (In Journal of Discourses, 10:376.) Elder Orson Pratt taught that the Saints would go back to Missouri and possess the properties they had once inhabited in the early days of the Church, after God’s judgments have made the cities desolate. (Refer to section 101 in the Doctrine and Covenants Student Manual) I do believe God will make many cities "desolate", starting with His own house D&C 112:25, but how that will happen exactly is open to interpretation from the scriptures (Revelations, D&C 112:23-25, 2Nephi, etc.).

Jared, thank you for clarifying this! I read it in a book, and it always made me uncomfortable. I thought it was because it was pretty graphic and disturbing. Maybe it was that the Holy Ghost never verified it in my heart. I'm so grateful for the Holy Ghost's testifying of all truth!! This reminds me of Pres Nelson saying we won't spiritually survive without a strong relationship with the Holy Ghost!

This is in visions of Glory book at the end which book you will be glad to know he was called to a disciplinary council to get ex out for writing false doctrine in his book visions of glory . Jared you must find his letter from 2014 . Google visions of glory Thomas Harrison disciplinary letter . Exactly ten years ago . That is where I saw the church website say that was nit even written by John Taylor . So good job finding this out .

I did a search for the letter but didn't see anything other than 1 page that was an explanation of what he was writing. It seemed like the same as the book introduction. It was only 1 page and didn't seem to be complete. Do you know of a specific site I might see that has an actual full letter that you say was a letter to a disciplinary council? I do NOT think the book Visions of Glory is truly any type of true vision. I never knew the actual name of the person who claimed the visions, or even if there was a real person involved, other than the author. I agree that the false unnamed vision and the book visions of glory are very much the same.

Ok look, I tend to think that vision is true and acurate but for arguments sake let’s suppose it’s not. That vision aside, any true Latter Day Saint cannot deny the following verses in our scripture, which essentially say pretty close to the same things as “John Taylor’s vision”. Love for you to do a show on these verses… D&C 45:40-33 30 And in that generation shall the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. 31 And there shall be men standing in that generation, that shall not pass until they shall see an overflowing scourge (a cause of affliction or calamity); for a desolating (the state of being destroyed or devastated, as land, population, community, etc.) sickness shall cover the land. 32 But my disciples shall stand in holy places, and shall not be moved; but among the wicked, men shall lift up their voices and curse God and die. 33 And there shall be earthquakes also in divers places, and many desolations; yet men will harden their hearts against me, and they will take up the sword, one against another, and they will kill one another. D&C 97:22-28 22 For behold, and lo, vengeance cometh speedily upon the ungodly as the whirlwind; and who shall escape it? 23 The Lord’s scourge shall pass over by night and by day, and the report thereof shall vex all people; yea, it shall not be stayed until the Lord come; 24 For the indignation of the Lord is kindled against their abominations and all their wicked works. 25 Nevertheless, Zion shall escape if she observe to do all things whatsoever I have commanded her. 26 But if she observe not to do whatsoever I have commanded her, I will visit her according to all her works, with sore affliction, with pestilence, with plague, with sword, with vengeance, with devouring fire. 27 Nevertheless, let it be read this once to her ears, that I, the Lord, have accepted of her offering; and if she sin no more none of these things shall come upon her; 28 And I will bless her with blessings, and multiply a multiplicity of blessings upon her, and upon her generations forever and ever, saith the Lord your God. Amen. I’m reading these comments and I’m literally shocked. It appears many are completely ignorant of modern day scripture. Saying things like oh I’m so relieved it’s not true… the spirit whispered to me this was false. D&C and other scriptures refer to much worse things than what was outlined in John Taylor’s vision. No one should get too comfortable, it’s coming and it’s not going to be pleasant. Don’t kid yourself.

Through out the later part of this video I just kept thinking back to Chief Midegah and then you brought up the White Chief. I don’t know anything about the white Chief but I am intrigued to see where Chief Midegah is going to take his content. I’ve heard him say in interviews things that I can stand by, but other times I hear a bit of pride in his language and it makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Like in one interview he was upset because our church leaders have asked him to prove that he is who he says he is by identification records. He claims to have his own ancient records that prove that the Book of Mormon is true. That’s a big deal. And it’s wonderful and I don’t think it’s unreasonable for the church leaders to ask him for some personal identification information. But he didn’t like that. I’m on the fence and watching how this unfolds. I hope that his claims are true but I know where my trust is rooted and that is on the prophet and the scriptures. But these false prophets are not a thing of the past. Now more than ever I hope everyone is careful and watchful for deceivers and false information. Thank you for setting an excellent example on correcting things like this. I’m so happy when your videos pop up. This is one of the few channels I genuinely trust and enjoy 😊

It's interesting that it's false. It sounds very similar to a report by a Congressional subcommittee on the effects of an Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) on the United States. The report says that, if an EMP was to be set off over the right spot, 90 percent of the population would be dead within a year. Electronic equipment, like computers, cell phones, ATM's, cash registers, vehicles, hospital life support equipment, satellites, TV's and radios, Internet, etc., would be destroyed. There would be no electricity, and water pumping stations would fail. The sewage systems would fail, and there would be no garbage collection. People would be hungry within a few days, and riots would break out soon after. People would fight and kill for food. They would begin to die from diseases. Funeral homes would not be able to serve the needs of the people, and the dead would be everywhere! spreading more disease. The report says that it could be months or years before power is restored. Other studies of the electric grid report that the generators are only produced by a few companies, and it takes six months to a year to build a generator (under ideal conditions), because the companies are dependent on electricity, which will not be available. Plus, their equipment won't be able to work. They would have been destroyed by the EMP. So, it could be several years before replacement generators would be available. With so many people dead, most areas of the country would see society collapse, and the specialists may have died making it even more difficult to build replacement generators. All this sounds like a horror movie, but they report is available on the Internet. I know that this is chilling, and I wonder if this report might be one of the factors, which encouraged both sides of the isle in Congress to pass Biden's Infrastructure plans. It's bad enough that our highways and bridges are collapsing all over the country. To not reinforce the electric grid to try to prevent the disaster an EMP would cause would be inconceivable. I haven't been watching your videos long enough to know if you are aware of the EMP report and thought that you might be interested.

The trouble with that infrastructure bill is oversight. That is what’s wrong with most bills. A lot of money gets passed around to favorites and infrastructure gets ignored. I know I’m singing to the choir here but I have zero confidence anything will change until Christ comes. In response to the person who suggested we throw it out, may I suggest that this may not be the best option. Living in an area where tangible reminders of times and practices that are uncomfortable to remember are being destroyed (and future reactionary decisions may eventually attempt to wipe out even those who made many priceless and inspired contributions to our country), I see this as a dangerous trend. Besides, who among us has not had a dream which, though couched in weird and surreal details, has had a kernel of truth which altered our actions? I once had a dream prior to taking a trip with my young daughter. It was loosely based on the upcoming trip but did not end well. As a result, I took some precautions which almost three decades later are still regarded as overkill. However, had they not been taken, do we really know how it might have turned out? Perhaps it is a good time to review the inspired words of Hymn #272 and hum the tune through the day to remind us of our individual responsibilities.

The supposedly vision from 1739 in Basil Switzerland was published in a book for Missionaries, which contains many references of scriptures. This book is called missionary pal. In 2005 I researched it and President David, O McKay, and a few other leaders said that that particular prophecy was false.

I don't know, but if he were seeing all these floods, wild fires (I say wild, but they were actually caused by laser beams intentionally), deaths, earthquakes, mass shootings, the destruction of so many farms, businesses, not to mention the violence of the cartels...I think that might look pretty apocolyptic, and somehow whether Wilford Woodruff had that vision, or not, I think it IS pretty appcolyptic, if you take an overview. But at the same time this is going on, we have temples dotting the earth, the gospel going forward, and not matter how bad things get, God is with us, and we are continually fighting against the evil and will win the war, because our cause is just and we have the angels in heaven fighting with us! We know that soon Satan will be cast into that fiery pit that was prepared for him. I also ran across that vision in my readings of everything I could get my hands on about the gospel along the way;) It may have been in Duane Crowthers books, would be my guess...

I have to say that while listening to your previous video I had an unsettled feeling. I felt the spirit whisper to me that it was not true, but was just a dream, not inspired. I sort of shrugged it off at the time but having you come out and say it was not a true vision makes me realise that I need to be sure to heed those feelings, especially as it wasn't the first time it's happened. The Lord has promised discernment when we are faithful in living in harmony with His Word, and this was a great lesson and witness to me. I appreciate your coming forward with the admission that it was an error. Not everyone has this kind of humility. It gives more credibility to your other work and I appreciate all I've learned from listening to your channel.

Although it cannot be claimed as from a mouth of a prophet, it goes along very well with revelations and other scriptures regarding the last days. Wars plagues natural disasters ect. It will be an exciting yet hard time for all regardless. It already is a hard time for many. He is coming! 🙌

Well you definitely did a good job of proving the vision attributed to John Taylor wasn’t written by Wilford Woodruff of JFS. The rest of the video seemed to be about provenance which is all fine and good, but I wouldn’t use the institute manual’s “possible interpretations” as an official church stance especially when it isn’t attributed to any official source. It was probably put together by a committee from byu. The seals have the dealings of God but Revelation doesn’t tell what is in the seals, only what happens as they open.

Interesting. I went to seminary and institute but never heard it before. I speculate that a teacher was not teaching with approved sources. Maybe? I went to seminary many years ago and I am sure seminary manuals have changed through the years.

Thank you for clarifying this I had heard that this vision was false when I had come across it before but your research is greatly appreciated There is at this time some so called missing pages of The Book of Mormon like a record of Samuel the Lamanite and records of Hagoth and more I was leery from the start but there are a lot of people getting really excited by these pages I spent a whole evening reading some of these pages but I found that they don;t read like scripture, it read more like a novel to me. I expressed my feelings to someone who suggested that I use Moroni's promise and learn for myself and I did take it to prayer I did not feel anything right away, but woke up at a 2:30 in the morning with the thoughts that I should not spend any more time reading these pages but should deepen my study of the Book of Mormon and look to what our prophets have to say, so that is what I have done. I fear that are those who are getting carried away with these pages and not searching what we already have including our latter day Prophets and apostles.

I've read this supposed vision a couple of times. I always kind of like it and didn't see the conflicts with scripture per se. I had a few comments on this rebuttal video: 1) The initial pieces of evidence presented that it was a false vision were very unclear. It sounded like the "fraudulent" action Joseph F Smith was referring to was that it was claimed he was the author, not that the vision itself was a fraud. It wasn't until the very end of the video when he wrote in the margins of another copy provided him "Not a word of truth in it", that I started to be convinced. I think some people may not have got to this point in the video, causing them to remain skeptics. It would have been better for Jared to have focused on this singular vision and not confused the presentation by talking about several others. 2) We should be careful about being critical of others believing this "fanciful" vision or suggesting those considering it's truthfulness as being lovers of "gloom and doom" or seekers of the "sensational"; or that those with the Holy Ghost should be able to detect it as fraudulent. I think Wilford Woodruff was a pretty good guy and had the Holy Ghost and probably wasn't given to go beyond the mark. 3) I am not really sure of the danger in believing this revelation. It has nothing to do with our salvation. I struggle a little bit with conflating the falsehood of this revelation with those that have eternal consequences. False doctrines regarding the gospel of Jesus Christ are far more consequential than a false vision of some end times events. 4) I wonder if our church leaders would even address this or similar document today. Why address something that is irrelevant to their salvation. Seems like they just leave it up to the individual to figure it out on their own (i.e., Visions of Glory). False doctrines of salvation, on the other hand, they will address those, no question.

This is why I don't listen to you in the first place. I happened upon the title and thought it interesting that a KZbinr actually corrected themself. The only other gospel KZbinr I've heard correct themselves was Greg Matsen, but for the same reasons as you mention in your video here, I just had to stop listening to all of y'all and spend my time in the scriptures so that the Holy Ghost could actually get through to me. Imagine being one of your followers who never sees this, or doesn't see it for months and just goes around telling everyone what you originally said in the meantime. I don't desire to be mean about this, but you're preaching to the choir in my case here about not taking anything at face value. There's no way that every one of you KZbinrs are correct with everything you say, and I hate to say it, but people do spend a lot of the time they could be spending with the Lord in scriptures listening to y'all. Just a thought. I mean no disrespect, but I do mean to wake up you or anyone else reading my message to the fact that so much of what is said by any person online with a channel has this devastating potential to be utterly false and never detected. Whenever any member wants to find out whether any claim in any domain is true or false, there is one definitive way provided by the Lord in the Book Of Mormon to find out whether any church or secular-related claim is fundamentally true or not. (see Moroni 10); It would be a shame not to make use of it.

Coming from a location where the destruction of physical reminders of an uncomfortable (though true) past is threatening to erase history and those who actually made it great, I support the retention of the posts that Jared made with the added warnings from subsequent findings. It is a good example of how to sift through the “facts” we encounter every day and determine their degree of truthfulness. Here, maybe we could review the inspired words of Hymn #272 and hum the melody so it reminds us through the day.

This is great! I love getting the direct quotes from prophets in past General Conference addresses. It's especially good because I grew up hearing about these "prophecies", but when I try to find sources for them...poof! Any chance you can find the quotes to disprove the prophecy about the west coast sinking into the ocean, the east coast burning to the ground and some big city being swallowed up in the earth? I forget what it was called... can anyone help me out here?

Thank you Jared. It is important for each of us to study, listen, learn, all that we can and then follow the guidance of the Holy Ghost for confirmation of truth or confusion when things are false. We can receive inspiration for ourselves, our loved ones and our callings, however, we will never receive revelation for others, especially, the church. Only the current ordained prophet can receive revelation for the church. We have been told very clearly that the only way we can safely maneuver through the world we live in will be to have a strong relationship with the Holy Ghost so we can determine truth. There are several KZbin channels and podcasts I follow and listen to, but become uncomfortable when many "jump on the band wagon" when some new sensation comes along. I am grateful that I can discern for myself what is right. Today's post is so timely. Thank you ❤

Unifficial vision? When I was converted in the 1970s, I heard that we will walk to Missouri. I heard that in the future men will look like women and women will look like men. I had no idea what that would even look like. And I also heard that “gold will sit in the streets “. Referring to money having no value.

I remember reading this shortly after I joined the church in 1980. It seemed to contradict scripture. It stuck out to me immediately that he recorded it as a dream. I dismissed it as a dream and not a vision. We must always seek confirmation from the Spirit. I was given a copy of Mormon Doctrine back then and thought it was an official book of guidelines. No one ever told me it wasn't official. We must be careful. (The book is no longer in print.)

Fantastic Video!! I have never loved this “vision”, nor has it made much sense to me. Finally, let’s remove it from the list of authoritative anticipated/prophesied second coming events. Having said that, John Taylor did make an incredible short prophecy of the trouble in America just prior to the second coming in General Conference, Oct 6, 1879 that I really would love for you to address. It is nothing like this false “vision.” I can give you the primary reference if you’d like.

I vote against throwing it out. Who among us has never had a dream which, while presented in surreal circumstances, has still contained an element of truth? I remember a vivid dream about an imminent trip I was to take with my young daughter which did not end so well. Although she still protests some three decades later that my preventative actions were overkill, who knows what might have happened had they not been taken?

Wilford Woodruff was simply an excellent record keeper and seemed to be filing this in his journal just in case, later to identify the author and source. The fact that it’s circulated around the church and Joseph F. Smith denounced it multiple times tells me that it came from elsewhere- not the top levels of the church. It’s interesting, and doesn’t need to be thrown out of all view (I agree with you in this), but as an authoritative prophecy about specific events prior to the second coming- I don’t think it should be including in that category.

insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Im glad that its false. In 2020 through 2022 were especially hard on my mental health. I had to rely more on the Lord than anytime in my lifetime. Not that that's a bad thing, but to feel that sad and depressed a lot of the time wasn't a good time. Maybe it was the steady diet of negative news or just me but I never want to go through that again. I made it through with the Lord's help. Thank you for the information.
