Always appreciate your updates Sean and I’ve certainly learned something there about why dealers do what they do. VFR Mitch got his “brand new” Suzuki VStrom 800 DE last summer (2024) on a 23 plate….the bike was still crated so effectively a new bike at a great price….stick a private plate on and off you go 😊👍🏻

My big worry is that any modifications we do to our lovely shiny new bikes will invalidate the first MOT in 3 years time. Exhausts. For example.😮

Thanks for taking your time with giving us the stats Sean. We hope that the New Year is going great for you & your queen!! Keep getting Suzie out for those walk to help her heal my friend: especially during the night under a full moon for more healing power. We wish you both to have a beautiful day!! Cheers!!!! Interesting that we are jumping through hoops to comply with Euro 5+ regulations / criteria. Perhaps I'm missing something obvious here, but as we are no longer a nation tied to EU regulations, why are we obligated to dance to their tune. Could we not simply ignore all this? Hopefully someone brighter than me could clarify? And regarding your error; anyone can make a mistake mate, so fair play to you for putting your hand up and admitting it. Good form.

Because we are still signed up to improving emissions law,and the UK.was an major player in this regulation.

Thanks for that reply, I was unsure why we still adhered to it!

It's that 'net zero' BS I'm afraid.

If a company wants to sell machines in the EU market then you would have to comply of course.

Hi Sean thanks for explaining that, funny because my Vespa PX was pre registered when i bought it and was sill in its crate to be assembled & PDI ed and that was 14 years ago, obviously due to being a 2T, and not meeting the then euro 3 or 4 🤔 ….. Pete 🇫🇷

Thanks Pete, I had a comment from someone saying Euro 4 is the best in terms of reliability etc. Interesting reading...

When you said you could get at a new BSA for the lower end of £4k I thought "nah, surely not". Quick look on Autotrader and found my local Kawasaki dealer selling them for £4.4k 😮 Seriously, if I had dry storage for a second bike I'd not be sat in my lounge with the central heating on at this very moment 😂

You'll have a shed soon Lee, a shed and many bikes hahaha 😆

That makes more sense, I suspect we will lose more bikes this year, like we did during the last cull when Euro4 switched to Euro5. If you like a bike buy it while you still can. Don’t dither.

Yes weird we still have to work with Euro5

So when do we expect MOT emissions tested for motorcycles to ensure 5.5 compliance over time???

I think the ECU has to record the data over time, I think your comment about yellow ecu lights on all the time was very apt!

So your not perfect Sean, strangely neither am i, who is. BSA seem to have made a complete and utter mess with the GoldStar and perhaps thats the reason their in such a state over the Scrambler, June delivery will most likely be July and wouldn't be surprised if that date is missed. The EU really are making this so hard for manufactures and business, hardly surprising really.
