I wasn't expecting this... 😱 Traxxas XRT 8S Truggy - Stock (not at full power, see description)

A few people have commented that my XRT is not running at full power in this video and as it turns out, they are right. Since I'm using my DX5C and never used the original radio, I assumed this was the top speed and max power of the truck outta the box. But after upping my throttle rates on radio to max and recalibrating the ESC, I found the truck has way more power now. I have uploaded a follow-up video to this run explain all this (link below) and will be running the truck again with the extra power to show just how much different it is. stay tuned for more on the XRT. 🙂

The first thing I did to mine straight out the box was putting the high speed gearing in and set the end points and using the traxxas live app I went to settings and it actually comes from factory with the 6s firmware and I loaded the 8s firmware . All I can say is my car is an absolute beast . 💪. Watching you video that's my car at about half throttle.

Seems solid, stabile and drivable. If you like it Vas , says a lot . Will be interesting to see you wake the beast up !. That will be the test for the durability part . I suspect it will be good . So looking forward to the banzai runs . Great video , thanks for sharing.

Well this is not exactly how I expected this truck to perform I saw couple of videos where the truck was acting much better, also for some reason I like the Traxxas sledge more than this one, I think the sledge is one of the best Traxxas products in my opinion. Thanks for the video

Reminds me of my first run with my 8S Outcast. I wanted more speeeeeed! Max 5 and 1100kv fixed that right up. I threw a Max 6 in my XRT and it woke it up nicely. Seems to be the sweet spot imo as it gives you a good deal more power and doesn't require a new motor / motor mount. May not be as smooth though tbh, I've hardly seen any ESC failures on these so if you like it its a good package.

In Canada it's 1339 for a 8s kraton or outcast and 1399 for a xrt or xmaxx, price is basicly the same

Stability central!! Epic driving as always Vas! Is it just me or does it seem slower than it should be? Something isn't right even with the stock esc. It's like it's got 75%-80% throttle? Just going off the sound here from an X-Maxx 8s. Stock esc with stock gears winds out much more.. And I've seen vids on 8s where this thing just wheelies like mad... Hmmmm maybe it's me.

Great video: I'm pretty sure one of your videos was the reason I first got interested in the kraton 8s. I've been loving the XRT and agree the price is high, especially for the crap electronics. I sold mine and made some money back. XRT is really durable minus the bellcrank though.

Great run Vas. One thing the XRT has going for it compared to the first roll out of the K8S is the center diff. Early Kraton's had 1 million weight in the center and that sucked. No wheeleis, etc. But the lighter weight defiantly helps too. This truck is weird. :). IMO, it's more fun to drive than the x-maxx. But, the durability isn't there. Bulkheads, wing mount, and a few other parts need to be improved. But if they do... this will be the new x-maxx killer. LOL! I know, that was lame. :)

HRB is all i use Bought 2 pairs for 36cad$ each earlier this month. My old pair is 2 years old i ruined one pair when i overheated it during a heat wave and i ran like a lunatic that day. Puffed and shrunk back flag but it cant keep up with the power And hits LVC quick. IR are under 7. But run time is cut in half

Good suggestion for your videos is a budget option for the car. Maybe 2% of your audience can afford this so why not cater for the rest right??

Im extremely desensitised. But the xrt seems slow. It has a wheelie bar yet, doesn't seem to need it. Bone stock my maxx would make use of the wheelie bar on all surfaces. The reason i say desensitised is my maxx now is 6s with all the fruit. So with what i have in it, its 2 xrts or xmaxxs $ wise. And its not even that fast. 6s 2200kv motor, 27/46 gearing, it does 147 on the gps.

Wheelies aren't really a good metric for power as both the X-Maxx and XRT are actually very different platforms despite being of somewhat similar design. The XRT sits much lower with longer arms and thus, a lower centre of gravity. It's designed to handle and stay planted to the ground. The X-Maxx a HCG monster truck with more suspension travel and designed to be of a stunt vehicle. So even if both cars have the same power system, gearing, types and batteries, the setup of the X-Maxx will always enduce wheelies a lot easier.

The car seems asleep, lazy reacting. Its dynamics leaves a lot to be desired out of the box from what I have been able to see, being a model that works at 8s. Beeing 90% made of plastic, it should not be an excessively heavy model. But there we have it... In action it almost looks like a sloth just rolled out of bed. It's mandatory to fiddle with the D/R and the ESC and even then, with any limits lifted it still feels heavy and sluggish, just the top speed and the acceleration changes a bit. For me ( I repeat: For me) it's another Traxxas to avoid. Mine is already sold by now.
