That brief out-of-nowhere rain shower was fun. I like the positive attitude you have about setbacks. It’s all part of the adventure, and you’re just happy to be out there experiencing it. I’m going to work on being more like that. Thanks!

Thanks, that's nice of you to say! Sometimes you can just tell that the rain isn't going to last long, so it's better for me to just sit and wait it out and listen to a podcast or something until it blows over 😁

"one last cast"... "one more fish"... "this is the last spot"... haha that's how you know its a good day.

Beautiful stream. A couple of my older 12’ tenkara (cheap, heavy) turned out to be useful in other types of angling. With furled line, instead of level, they perform well casting heavier bead head nymphs, streamers and air-resistant popping bugs for stream smallmouth bass. So, hang on to the ones you have if you ever travel east for smallmouth!

Nice, thanks for sharing 🙏 About the rod: I don't care fishing rods over 10 ft anymore. The shorter ones 9, 8 or even the 6 ft are much more fun to fish with plus you don't have the weight balance issues the long ones do. Also it helps that my fish are all under the 12 inch mark and all of those "shorties" can deal with them hands down.

For my birthday last year someone actually bought me this exact same rod and I haven’t yet used it 😅 and then funny enough this past Christmas someone bought my dad the exact same rod, so now we have 2 rods that we knew just from your past reviews aren’t that amazing 😂 but fun Creek you found there, glad you got into the fish!

The fun part of any fishing is catching fish, and this rod can do that, so you're good to go 😁

We have a lot of brown trout here in southern Ontario. No cuthroat though.

Nice looking creek. I had those same hip boots. Would not buy again, they don't hold up. I've switched to Redington pants waders and love them.

Good to know that you also use budget rods too. Which i'd say are very cost efficient. I own 5 models of the Aventik tenkara rods (Zeno S2 9', Zeno S2 foam 10', IM12 Nano 9', Pocket 9', and Pocket Pro 9'). I love all of them, but the most goes to the Pocket Pro 9'. The Zeno S2 10' is kinda too slow for my taste, since it's fibreglass, but that thing can easily manage big fighters. I've caught and landed a 1.2kg. Striped bass on my S2 10', and a 1.7kg. Rainbow trout. Biggest i've caught on the IM12 Nano 9' is a 38cm Brook trout (didn't have my pocket scale on me then, so never got a chance to weigh it). I also hope tou can also make a video review and field test on the Maxcatch Tenkara (8'/9'/10') zoom rod.

I bought a couple of cheap rods off Temu, Goture, an 8’ and 12’. The 8’ rod feels great, the 12’ really takes two hands or choking up about a foot. Not bad for the price, but I’m looking forward to buying one or more quality tenkara rods in a couple of months, after a move.

That's the exact rod I caught a 12ft alligator on. Had that rod in a full C shape before I could get the hook out of the fish that he grabbed and took off with

Aren’t brook trout considered an invasive species in the West? I have a vague memory of a newspaper article about efforts to eradicate them. Here in Maryland when the invasive snakehead fish was first discovered in our waters Maryland DNR issued a ban on catch and release. It didn’t work apparently because snakeheads are firmly established now. Anyway, I always see you release eastern brookies and I’ve always wondered. I’m not a fisherman. I just really dig your videos. Any comment?

Good Morning. Thanks for the video. I have a dumb Question. When you say your line is 12’ long you mean including the tippet? Thanks.
