Imagine Me and You was, for a very long, one of the *ONLY* films featuring queer women that get a happy ending. It's sort of hard to believe now, in the age where every 3rd or 4th show on Hulu has a queer couple in it, how sort of revolutionary this film was when it came out -- no pun intended ;)

I watched this film first time in 2009 I think, and it is still my favourite Queer romcom ever, did not saw anything like that since! That's why I'm rewatching it from time to time )) It has great cast, actually relatable and quite believable plot, with beautiful nuances in storytelling, impeccable humour, beautiful cinematography (locations included), iconic scenes (number 9, dance machine, lilies meaning etc.) and soundtrack - what else a person need ))) I think it was the first movie that gave me the feeling that my love story could be as anyone else’s story - light and happy, because at that time most lesbian stories were tragic or depressing in any other way. So, in my personal list it is one of the greatest movies still ))) Also, it was a joy to watch you enjoy it for the first time ))) Reminded me a lot about how I watched it for the first time ))

I found this movie almost immediately after it was released because I was going through a phase where I tracked down every quote that my friends had on their favorite quote list on Facebook and one of my friends had "You're a wanker, number nine!". I saw that the movie had Anthony Head and Matthew Goode (I didn't know Piper Perabo or Lena Headey yet) and decided to watch it. It is now one of my go to movies for cheering myself up.

This is the first ever WLW movie I ever saw with a happy ending. It's where I absolutely fell for Lena Headey for the first time. It's also refreshing that they don't paint her husband as this evil man holding her back. That gets annoying and is not realistic.

This was one of my first ever lesbian movies. Always felt like i was doing something wrong watching it, so i had a hundred tab open to minimise one i had it open in so no one could read the title😅😂 Ofcourse now i know it wouldn’t have been an issue for my parents, but i still think about this film and feel like its an unknown gem😂 Now Bloomington?…yea that was defiantly something that wouldn’t have been ok which fair enough😂 Anyway I love this film to this day. Usually hate a cheating storyline, but back then a decently written, well acted queer rom com wasn’t exactly around every corner, so I put rose glasses on and cheered for them to end up together. It’s another reason why this film is so beloved, for its time it was so rare to see a lesbian film that had a happy ending which they did! Your a wanker number 9 is iconic😂
