i will never stop being mad about the missing work plotline: charlie literally does the report in a day meaning he couldve done it the next day to end the ban, but didnt. and nick is literally the type of person to say 'if you do your report we can go back to making out' yet says nothing. its one of the only frustrating parts of the show where they both act out of character, because theyre pretty practical together and always try to do whats best

I’ve seen so many reactions to this movie and as bad as the bet was - 1) he spent all the money on taking her out, the band, prom cost, and the guitar. Basically he broke even and all he gained was feelings for her 2) he didn’t do it with malicious intent- unlike joeys skeez ass 3) She wasn’t the “bet” technically the bet was Joey made w his friends about nailing Bianca

21:50 Either she's to arrogant and/or naive to guess that that's the only reason he's interested in her, she just really wants to stick it to Bianca, or she honestly just doesn't care ('he wants me for sex? that's ok, I only want him for sex')

2:28 Which was a little better than 'She's the Man' did actually - it's set in Illyria which is pretty accurate, but have Viola and Sebastian originally going to a school called Cornwall. In the play they come from Messaline. I can only guess they got mixed up because a movie of 'Twelfth Night' that had come out ten years before 'She's the Man' was mostly filmed in Cornwall (it's starring Helena Bonham Carter, Toby Stephens, Imogen Stubbs, and Ben Kingsley amongst other names in case anyone's interested).

If anyone else is interested there's also: She's the Man (based off Twelfth Night - the lead character Viola actually says "I am the man" though they cut some plot points) Get Over It (based very very EXTREMELY loosely off Midsummer Nights Dream - they give a summary of the play in the movie, but it misses out on so much) O (based off Othello - it was released in 2001 but was set for a release a few years beforehand - had to be shelved because of a highs school shooting, should give you some idea of what kind of a story O will be) There's another high school set retelling of Twelfth Night, but I can't remember what it's called. And of course, the BBC miniseries 'Shakespeare Retold' from the 2000s, where we get a modern day retelling of: Much Ado About Nothing, The Taming of the Shrew, Macbeth, Midsummer Night's Dream And a few years before that BBC did a retelling of 'Othello' set in London's police force.

39:33 I agree. As much as I love Hogwarts (and still do in spite of the things that J.K. Rowling has said - it's hard to turn your back on something you love and grow up with), I'm a St Trinians girl till I die. And I'm speaking as someone who saw the original four movies from the 1950s and 60s. And has a book of the original newspaper cartoons.

I never understood the mixed reception this movie got. It’s one of the best Disney stories in my opinion. The original Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty, literally had no motivation. She only cursed Aurora because she was EVIL for EVIL’s sake, and that’s it. But here they gave her an actual backstory and character arc. I also like how they did away the whole “True Love’s Kiss” angle the original Disney Animated Films did. With a random Prince kissing a Princess whom he just met to break a spell. It’s a cheesy plot device imo, but I love how they made True Love’s Kiss not being limited to romantic love, but also parental love.

27:35 Can’t believe you left out the whole quote!! It’s always been one of my favourite quotes in the film!! “Miss Fritton: But remember the legend, Jessica, there are two rings. To stop these bullies ... all we have to do is find the second ring first! Student: But what about the first ring? Miss Fritton: I'll get to the first ring in a second. Now, girls ... we find the second ring first, infiltrate the enemy camp, and get the first ring, second.”

9:25 - 9:39 I, too, think he has been waiting his whole life for this role as Dracula, and Cage once was considered for Superman. It's very fitting, ever since his guilty pleasure bomb, Vampire's Kiss, where his performance was inspired by Nosferatu and silent movie acting.

Hi Jess, Happy New Year. It's been a very long time since I have seen your videos and honestly dropping this request on the Maleficent video makes the most sense to me. The actress who plays young Maleficent in this movie is named Ella Purnell. Who you may know as the voice of Jinx in Arcane and she has a show called Sweetpea, which is an adaptation of a series of books by CJ Skuse which came this year. I saw it and had a feeling you might like it and I really miss the feeling of looking forward to a Fictional Darling video so I hope you make a reaction to the show at some point in 2025.

This film is an absolute work of art, and I'm so happy you like it. I'm having a really hard time rn with one of my newly out friends, who is still completely culturally straight. She refuses to learn the history or watch any of the movies, and i can tell she's still deep in comp-het and internal homophobia. I tried to show this movie to her and she spent the whole film bashing it cause it's weird apparently. Sorry for the rant, it's just so frustrating to have someone say they're queer, yet have no knowledge or respect for those of us who came before and paved the way for her to be so flippent about everything. Loved the video, thank you x

dude heartstopper made such a big impact on me i cry any time i hear seven by Taylor Swift and i cried at least 15 times between s2 episode 8 and s3 episode 4. like its so relatable and for me ive never ever ever cried over a piece of media, not a show, not a movie, not a game, not a song, not even a youtube video or smth. it just hits way too close to home. i remember charlies actor saying in an interview that heartstopper isnt the kind of show you watch and forget about, and i think hes right. i keep thinking about the show and sometimes i cry thinking about the sad scenes. im not even emotional whatsoever likeee
