You really should’ve watched the Directors cut because it really fleshes out Ripley‘s backstory and enriches her relationship with newt. For example, it shows Ripley‘s daughter who was still a child when she went off on her mission, but after her 57 years in Cryo sleep, her daughter actually died of old age and she only found out when they woke her up. So during the movie she was grieving and finding newt actually helped her get through that grieving process because she was able to take newt in as if she was her daughter.

@@camcordercamerin Also, if you can read the crew member bios during Ripley's inquest/inquisition with those company suits, the Nostromo crew, including Ripley were not 'ideal employees', either not mindlessly obedient or 'trouble makers'. Kain was gonna be a top notch doctor, but quit to explore space.......Ripley sued the company over a maternity rights issue, and won........Lambert, it seems, was a male to female transgender woman, guess the company did not care for that.....and Parker would question authority figures, even trying to give him drugs to make him more docile or obedient. Seems the company had their ship to get the alien, and if the crew got killed....the company would not view that as a bad thing. :P

"Aliens": Third Officer Ripley has been found and taken to Gateway station with a Xenomorph-size case of PTSD. What will the Weyland-Yutani Suits make of her blowing up the "Nostromo"? 4:46 Ripley shows Sgt. Apone and Cpl. Hicks that she isn't a "front office paper shuffler" like Burke, but a working class dog like themselves. 8:34 In 1986, Ripley was able to "get close, quickly" to Rebecca/Newt unlike the female Colonial Marines. A reviewer of the time said: "Sisterhood!" I bought the Special Edition of "Aliens" in the 1990's and confirmed my suspicion that Ripley had been a parent. 10:34 Disarming the troops moving into a Hot Zone disturbed me as well. 14:43 LV-426 ISN'T the Xenomorph home planet. Ridley Scott went bonkers on the "Alien Prequels" thinking that an "upgraded Bender Bending Rodriguez robot" was the Xenomorph maker. (He just did some CRISPR work.) 15:34 The Colonial Marines' motto: "We Endanger Species!" 21:08 The Manual of Arms. 26:04 They went out like Klingon warriors. 27:34 The right weapon for the job with Duck Tape. 29:00 The Egg Chamber. 32:11 It's not over. 6:50 Why is there no music ? Because James Cameron kept editing the movie until the last minute so the composer didn't have time to finish his work. If you listen carefully, you'll notice some of the music is copy-pasted across several scenes (like the final escape in the shuttle, and the final airlock climb, they have exactly the same music). But some tense scenes ended up working better without music so, it's kind of a win. Fun fact: James Horner was p!ssed at Cameron for this, but he won the Best Score Oscar nevertheless.

Aliens is one of the few sequels that live up to the original; & the directors cut is always my go to version. Cameron didn’t look to just repeat Alien, he took it to a whole different level & then cranked it up to 11. Fun Facts: The atmosphere processing station was filmed on location at the now disused Acton Power station in West London. The same location doubled for Axis Chemicals in Tim Burtons Batman; the set dressing team even found the Alien hive still in situ & had to remove it prior to shooting. Janette Goldstein (Vazquez) thought the film was about illegal immigrants; hence the joke between her & Hudson. Goldstein isn’t actually Latino. Carrie Henn (Newt) is a teacher & still very much involved with the Aliens fan community. Her Twitter feed is always awesome. To save costs on production, the corridors in the Hadley’s Hope facility are made up of repeating vacuum formed sections; the backs of old CRT television sets make up a lot of the walls. Also, Ripley’s bathroom / accommodation at Gateway station was in fact bits of a 747 bathroom / galley. The APC is an old aircraft tug from Heathrow Airport. To enable it to drive into the Atmosphere Processing Station set, several tonnes of ballast had to be removed to prevent it breaking the floors. Also, the cast couldn’t all actually fit inside it; if you look carefully as it drives into the processing station, you can see the shadows of the cast running behind it. If you want a scene where you’ll never un-see something….rewatch the scene where the Alien comes out of the water behind Newt & look for the pipe falling of its back 😂 Please don’t do what a lot of people reacting to the Alien series do….& stop after Aliens. Alien 3 is a bit of a black sheep in the series. It was David Fincher’s directorial debut & is a flawed masterpiece. He had to struggle with constant studio interference, re-writes, his director of photography; the legendary Jordan Cronenweth left the production days into shooting due to Parkinson’s….the list goes on. It’s got a very different look & feel to the first two films, but by overlooking it you miss out on completing one of the finest sci-fi trilogies ever. Make sure you watch the Assembly Cut; it’s as close to a directors cut & Fincher’s original vision as we’ll ever get….he disowned the film & refuses to speak about it. Oh & the Reebok boots Ripley wears in Aliens were available to buy the other year….& yes I got a pair!!
@camcordercamerin11 ай бұрын
I absolutely love learning stuff like this - filmmaking is insane. I am definitely watching Alien 3!! I really love a lot of Fincher’s works so I’m really interested in seeing his debut, even with all the studio interference and complications! Thank you for the wonderful comment!
@davidanderson163911 ай бұрын
@@camcordercamerin you’re welcome. As someone who has a degree in film design, I love the technical side of film production; as well as the finished work. It’d be worth you watching the directors cut of Aliens; which Cameron’s preferred cut. There are a lot of additional scenes that flesh out the story; especially with Newts family…..as well as somethings that further adds to Ripley’s mothering nature towards Newt. There used to be a tourist attraction in central London called Alien War, which was loosely based on Aliens. I was fortunate enough to do some work with them & went behind the scenes of the attraction & the props from Aliens they’d acquired were amazing. The corridors of the attraction had been moulded off the original castings from Aliens & were really accurate. Sadly, in the late 1990s / early 2000s massive flood at the Trocadero Centre where it was located caused a huge amount of damage & it never reopened. Can’t wait to see your reaction to Alien 3; & I like mentioned please watch the Assembly Cut, as it’s a much more coherent story. Whilst it’s still nowhere near a perfect film, it’s a damn sight better than the theatrical cut (although….& this is spoiler free, I do prefer the final minutes of the theatrical cut).

Holy crap... This has been one of the funniest reactions to this movie lol.... Camerin on Cameron. Oh in the directors cut we learn Ripley is a mother. And that Ripley has been in hibernation this whole time. And when she gets back, she finds out that her daughter died of old age. They cut everything out. But they should've left it in. It makes more sense when you realize Ripley's reaction with Newt. Ripley missed out being a mother this whole time.

LV-426 isn't the alien's home planet. The derelict ship was just housing the eggs. There's a lot of different lore around where the xenomorph comes from.
