I saw this at an Indie theater in Las Vegas, having watched the original film adaptation from Mario Bava’s Black Sabbath I was excited to see this interpretation. It’s not a perfect film, but the life size marionette was an interesting choice and I really enjoyed the performances of the actors. I’m hoping for a physical release.

I've watched this twice, love the folk lore and how it takes you back in time to another world, the way it was filmed as if it was made in the 80s and there was a tragic love story hidden behind it all, it was dark yet romantic at the same time if that makes sense.....are there any other movies like this?

Dark and romantic folk horror, I'd go for Leptirica, Morgiana, Blancanieves, The Ghost of Yotsuya, The Mad Fox, Kwaidan (specifically The Snow Woman), House of Usher, The Tale of King Crab, I Walked with a Zombie

Hm this is the type of movie I'd see as a child and then couldn't remember if it was real or whether I dreamt it Btw have you seen the substance or the beast?

I haven't seen The Beast yet, but it's been on my watchlist! I think The Substance is coming out next month.
