I don't think Pacey's character changed from the fourth season, because Pacey has a huge inferiority complex. Andie needed him, so he loved himself when he was with Andie. But Joey seemed to need him less and less and so he couldn't love himself.

Recently my wife watched the entire series when they put it on Netflix and i partially re-watched it as I was working at home. I remember watching it originally when it came out but i never finished it. I definitively saw it this second time with different eyes and gave me a different warm feeling for some of the character stories. Specially the ending they gave to the character of Michelle Williams. I still think it has some ups and downs, some seasons better than others, the dialog is still too much, but overall gave me a better feeling this second time.

Oh yeah, 90s and early 2000s entertainment was a lot of fun. Good old times... I still love to go back, lot of nostalgia for shows like this.

Kevin Williamson was brought back to wrte the 2 pt series finale. He said that he no matter what happened with any other relationships & no matter how romantic Pacey & Joey were, he knew from the very beginning that it would be Dawson & Joey together. It wasn't until he actually sat down and started writing the Finale that he changed his mind to Pacey & Joey! But I agree that Pacey & Joey had the best chemistry & that, even though I loved the show, I didn't care for ssns 5&6 as much. I liked the Finale though!

I agree with almost everything said here. Season 1 is damn near perfect television. Season 2 adds some great characters and has some great episodes, then it's all downhill from there. I bought this Blu-ray set, and it will probably be my 3rd time watching the full series when I get to it. Roswell is my favorite 'teen drama' from this era. I really hope it gets a nice Blu-ray release in the future.

I never watched Dawson's Creek and its audience is way after my ("Silent") generation, but I do like some of the actors in the series (e.g. Michelle Williams). After your review, I think I'll watch at least the first two seasons. I just put the show on my watch list. The entire series is streaming on Max.

Everybody’s talking about how out of character Pacey was at the Prom but if you considered what happened before with Doug you’d realize it makes sense. Because before the prom Doug has been ragging on Pacey about what’s been happening with his life lately. Failing grades. Getting arrested for underage drinking. Then he replies to Doug(loudly) This my life! It’s over after this! Because he knows he’s not going to college and that he’ll never get a good job. (Doug took Pacey camping after this to clear his mind) So seeing Joey dancing with Dawson made him feel inadequate and that someone out there is better than him and can make Joey happier, so he reaches his tipping point. So I’ll say it makes sense.

I checked out of Dawson after season 2, the wtiting went way diwn hill. Loved the start and connected with Dawson over his love of movies. Always team Joey and Dawson myself, but you could see that it wasn't sustainable with them. Been wanting to picknup this blu-ray set and relive the show and see what I missed. I remember watching the series finale just to see how it was going to end. Kevin Williamson said when he sat down to write the series finale he intended to have Joey end up with Dawson, but as he wrote he changed it to her going with Pacey as Dawson's love was always film. He says he mom never forgave him for not putting Dawson and Joey back together.

IIRC, the reason why they killed Jen was because Michelle Williams asked to be killed off as the sacrifice. She wasn't very happy with her time on the show (which is understandable, her character was never written very well) and wanted to be killed off so she wouldn't be a part of any show revivals.

As a straight man, I used to love watching this when I was a kid. And obviously did it in secret. 🤣 So I never really saw all episodes and all seasons. What you said at the start about “mid-life crisis” and you being the same age as the actors resonated with me and made me want to re-watch it. Might be for me.

Right? They built his USC attendance for like half a season and he's there for an episode or two then comes back. I can't think of any other show that felt so poorly planned, as if the writers couldn't commit to anything.

Sorry I'm just curious in your opinion if it's worth getting? It's like $19.99 on Amazon and well you can't beat that price for 3 seasons of a show. PS. Thanks for brining back memories for us about Dawson's Creek, I'm soo suprised to hear from your video it got a Bluray release.

If you can live with the DVDs being in a CD wallet style of packaging and not in actual cases, the VEI sets are a good deal. The video quality isn't going to win any awards, but it's probably the best the show is ever going to look. Even the more expensive release from a few years back (amzn.to/3XRyiYN) has the same amount of discs as the cheaper VEI version. I've bought most of the Cannell shows from VEI and been satisfied with all of them. Just know the shows aren't newly remastered and look exactly like they did 35 years ago.

I miss those characters so much but I agree with you my love for the show diminished after the first couple of seasons when they kept trying to shoehorn in more characters who I didn't really care about as much as the core four. And personally I still wish Joey and Dawson had made it work somehow but I can see the appeal of Pacey for sure. I think the show was ultimately a victim of its own success - Kevin Williamson and the main cast members became so famous after the first season that their attention turned to other projects so we didn't get the full commitment to the show that we deserved.

What about the original music? I know you mentioned in a previous video that some of the music was still in the first episode. On the series as a whole what percentage of the original music is on the blu ray version? That original music was like one of the main characters on the show.

Almost all of the music outside of season 1 has been changed. They kept things that they had to, like when John Lennon's Imagine plays as Dawson puts up a poster for it, and the music from the episode when they go see No Doubt in concert, but most everything else is changed.

I really began to dislike dawson alot. He was soo frustrating as if he was entitled to joey or like he owned her. It drove me nuts and her only excuse was that she grew up with him his family being like her own and not wanting to upset him so she tried to keep him n her life somehow. Except she gave him way too much control and he used it. When he was with jen they was great hut he broke it off when he thought joey was available instead of just committing to jen. Then jen and every1 constantly enabling dawson its like some one please stand up and put him in his place. Acouple of times i thought pacey would but he held back knowing joey wouldnt like it.

The writers had no idea what to do with him. Like so many characters in Dawson's Creek, it came down to what they needed that week. The supporting cast of the show suffers. Man, I loved Andie at the beginning, then they totally changed her character. Dawson's Creek is such as schizophrenic show.

I was entering my teens when I first saw this series back in 98/99 I couldn't really grasp the entire story but I always tried to mimic the American teenage lifestyle.
