It’s impossible to rank Shinee songs because it depends on my mood and because they have the most consistently solid discography in Kpop. I loved their music long before I loved anything else about them. Odd Eye is definitely in the top tier though. It was composed by Jonghyun with lyrics by both him and Key! I personally love their b-sides more than their title tracks but you honestly can’t go wrong if you just check out anything. I think based on your comments about what you like you’ll really enjoy their later tracks like 1 of 1, View, Good Evening, I Want You, etc

It's really difficult to select Shinee's best because they are so good. They are among the greatest Kpop groups of all time. I think you would like View.

SHINee’s discography is so extensive (I think over 400 songs at this point) and varied that I think you’d get a bunch of different answers about their best songs, hahaha. They very much live up to their title as a “contemporary band.” Watching the title tracks in order could be fun because you get to see them grow up before your eyes and improve - and that’s after they started strong with Replay. The B-sides are also great, obviously; Odd Eye is one. (Each member is a soloist, on top of the group discography. That’s a whole other mountain to climb.) They’re known as a group that shines (is this too on the nose) performing live so I recommend watching a live performance for every title track along with the MV. I think you’d really enjoy it. Someone already mentioned the Excuse Me Miss live performance as a starter and I’ll second that. It shows off their singing, dancing, and has a segment at the end where each member is introduced by name. Handy. I’m always kind of jealous when I see someone starting their SHINee journey because there’s so much of their music I’d love to hear for the first time again. :) Have fun!

"Odd Eye" is another one of SHINee's songs that was written and composed by Jonghyun -- the blond in this performance -- who is SHINee's main vocalist. It's the title track on their Odd album, but was promoted as a B-side song. "View" was their lead track from this album, which was also written by Jonghyun. This is why he was such a brilliant singer/songwriter. And why he was so highly respected in the industry. "Odd Eye" is such a classic, and this performance is so iconic. And now, if you have seen Taemin's solo "Criminal" MV, you understand where Taemin got his eye patch from for "Criminal", LOL. We know that Taemin literally broke into Key's house while Key was in the military and borrowed his clothes, so I guess he must have taken his eye patch too. (J/K, Taemin's eye patch is different than Key's. ;D) What do you mean "WERE popular"? SHINee have been going strong for 15 years now and they are just as popular, if not more so than they have ever been. ;) SHINee haven't gone anywhere. I mean in their most recent comeback in June with their song "Hard" they were topping the charts and winning all the music shows, outscoring and outselling all their juniors who they were competing against at the time. SHINee are megastars that almost all other idols name as one of their biggest influences and pretty much everyone who came after them cites as one of the reasons why they wanted to become a dancer and/or singer. And SHINee live are always 300 times better than any of their studio recordings. That's why their live performances are considered the top in the industry. I'm not sure where I would rank "Odd Eye" because all of SHINee's songs are so good, but it's definitely one of their most iconic and like everything SHINee does, it was unlike anything anyone was doing at the time. What you just experienced is why, even as rookies, SHINee was so highly respected by everyone, including their seniors. Their live vocal ability while performing intricate choreography was something no one else was doing at the time, and people were blown away by how perfect their singing and harmonies were. Even still today, SHINee is the group that everyone looks up to and wants to be like. SHINee are one of the top groups that are known for the fact that they all can do it all. They are a group of 5 amazing vocalists, 5 impressive dancers, 5 visuals, 5 rappers, 5 top actors, and 5 of the most talented and unique voices in all of Kpop. Their main vocalists are pretty good rappers and their rappers can fill in as main vocalists any time. Once you get to know their voices you will always be able to pick them out of a crowd just by the sound of their voice. Most fans will tell you we can tell who is speaking or singing within 1 second even with our eyes closed with them standing in a crowd of screaming fans. I can tell who is singing every line of their songs even if it's a brand-new song that I have never heard. Each of their voices are that unique -- there is no one with a voice like any of theirs. That is why they are "The Princes of Kpop". SHINee are known for their live vocals and amazing dancing. They are known as CD-quality singers because they sound just as good live, if not better, than they do recorded. SHINee always sings live. The ONLY thing they are not good at is lip syncing so they avoid it at all costs. Therefore, when you hear SHINee singing 95% of the time it will be live. It's a running joke between the fans and the members that when SHINee lip syncs you can tell because it's very obvious. Unless they are required to lip sync for a specific reason, SHINee will always sing live. They have trained their entire career to build endurance and stamina by doing intense cardio exercises while singing to be able to sing live and continue to sound flawless while performing extremely complex choreography for more than 3 hours straight in concert. SHINee were designed to be SM Entertainment's experimental boy group, so everything they do is meant to be the first and they are expected to create the trend. With every new song release, SHINee are supposed to come out with a style and sound that is brand new, not only for them, but in the industry as a whole. Therefore, everything SHINee produces is expected to be different than the last. You will never hear the same style or sound from them in any of their songs, even on the same album, and yet, somehow it will always sound like SHINee. They reinvent the industry with every new release. SHINee literally set the standard when it comes to live performances. It is actually known as the SHINee standard and it's what all other groups strive to reach. SHINee are Idol's Idols and legends among legends for a reason. They are one of the groups that pretty much made Kpop what it is today and they are still making waves and breaking ground even 15 years in.

For me personally, this song is absolutely in my top 3 with Replay and Evil (my entry song to SHINee and still the stage that manages to blow me away). If Evil is the song that makes me curious about SHINee, this song cemented my love for their artistry. As you said, they were--and are--exceptional, I don't think I found a group that has their level of uniqueness and artistry. Other group, you see their discography and then able to say "oh they're the rap-centric group" or "oh they're the swag style group" or "they're the pop-with-meaningful-lyrics group", but you see SHINee and you won't be able to categorize their style unless you make a new category, which is SHINee. Their cohesiveness as a group is what makes them work and slay any type of music and concept imo. There can't be any 5 wholly different (music and stylistic wise) personalities that works so well together like them. When you dig deep into them, you'll be able to recognize that their voices is actually so clashing and different, but they really can make it so harmonious. SHINee's harmonies are what I live for. And yes, not to mention that they're also very exceptional performers. SHINee was known as their live stages which is MILES better than their studio recordings to the point that their concert was turned into a whole new special album because it's just so good. Even if one did not interested with them when seeing their MVs or listening to their albums, they WOULD be fans once they see the live stages (me included). I recommend you check out their live stages. @preciousminho has stated the list and I agree, with additional Evil live stage at SWC III recommendation from me. Hope you enjoy your SHINee journey!

From the very beginning, SHINee has been trying to maintain its own style in everything, and you can basically see it in every song. People have different musical tastes, but anyone who tries to delve into their group or solo albums will find something that will interest them. They have so many unique pieces that I really don't know how some people manage to choose 3 or 5, but I can't. It's like asking a pianist who loves Chopin to choose only 1.

SHINee's best songs? its different for every fans since they have done almost every genre out there. All member has solos albums and every members are very different to one another thats why they can try every kind of genre not to member every members voices are very distinct. Some songs are being being slept on but will climb up in ranking just because of the live performance like excuse me miss, like a fire, evil, woof woof, etc. Ring ding dong and lucifer for example will probably be not liked by newer gen fans but a must watch for their live performance. Its best to check their live performances and also yes the title tracks.

Live performances are the fastest route to understanding Shinee and who they are and what they can do - Shinee World Concert (SWC) performances especially. Romeo & Juliet, from SWC 5, is R & B and absolute vocal heaven. There's a huge amount of Shinee's work to explore, and it doesn't fit in any particular box, or type of music, except for the Shinee Standard of skill and talent and quality - and heart and soul. I hope you enjoy exploring Shinee further and also checking out the members' solo works.

Shinee World Concert performances rarely seem to have any problems, fortunately. I think some of the award shows or other live stages have them more often, but I don't know which specific ones. Japan is more strict, I think, but I've seen a lot of Shinee's Japanese tour concerts performances posted successfully. Happy Shinee journeys!

Every SHINee fan will give you different ranking, but most of us love Odd Eye, this performance especially. Generally it's very hard, if not impossible to find a bad SHINee song. They are known for making even songs that could be average while performed by some other group sound exceptional.

If you're talking the journey through shinee then you should start at the beginning and work through their entire discography and solo work. Then move onto their live performances and shineeworld concerts. Taemins new album will be out at the end of the month so do check that out too.
