I hate being in Australia during the WC, you think waking up at 4am is bad, here in AUS all games are after midnight so its basically an all nighter. Im just lucky (in a weird way) that i had a car accident and am suffering nerve damage to my neck/L shoulder and L arm so i was home this whole time instead of working. First WC i was actually able to watch live in 12 years. And Australia surprised the hell out of me, this time in a good way.

This was awesome to be around the stream for. I'm dealing with Central US time so I had to be up an hour before you out east even but it was well worth it. I loved the streams watching those often boring but occasionally absurd early morning games. For the games I didn't catch live I would always set the vod to the time in the match as I watched but sometimes it would get spoiled as I could see the score line in the thumbnail unfortunately. I loved seeing Japan play especially in the game against Spain, and being there live for the Saudi Arabia/Argentina game was incredible; the whole stream was going absolutely nuts and really got us all into the feeling of it being a World Cup. That final though, 100% agree, the best sporting event at least I have ever seen

What I liked most about this World Cup (except the greatest final of all time ever) is that it felt like every team had a moment. Even qatar scored their first ever World Cup goal. Cameroon, Saudi Arabia and Tunisia walked away with unlikely wins, australia, Japan and Morocco shocked the world. Even Iran got a win over wales which is pretty huge for them 🤷‍♂️ The Dutch comeback, Spain trouncing Costa Rica, it really offered everything. Honestly, apart from Wales, I think every team can walk away with a highlight.

I thought that Poland played a really good game against France in 1/8. They had the best scoring opportunity of the whole game and dominated until France scored a pretty lucky goal at the end of the first half, in the second half the France just used counter-attacks to put more goals in, so I would say they didn't obliterate Poland and I think it was good game not like You described it, that it was easy France win without drama.

Honestly, while watching the first half of the Final, I was telling everyone that Argentina are going to struggle in the second half. They never had the bench depth and both Emi Martinez and Angel Di Maria being on the field was what was keeping that team in the hunt. Both France and Netherlands had bench depth for days, Argentina was a mix of Young and Old and most of the Young did not have experience or the required mental fortitude. I have been kind of a Messi fan for years now and I never thought Argentina would make it to the final but they were a little bit lucky that they faced a weaker French team and Messi deserved a World Cup to his name.

@@MatiasDypala Nope, their bench was one of the weaker ones. Lautaro Martinez missed all in-game shots and scored one penalty in the shootout vs. Netherlands. Julian Alvarez was a known name but not someone who was the first choice for Argentina's coach (for some reason). It is easy enough to see why Argentina struggled against Australia, Netherlands and France after the 75th minute. If they did have the 'tactical' bench depth as you say, it didn't manifest on field. Both France and Netherlands subbed on players while Argentina had to sub off their better choices due to injury and tiredness and both times the subs changed what was otherwise a 2-0 lead for Argentina. You maybe right in your mind but on field Argentina lacked bench depth.

It was one of the most spectacular world cups...but in terms of good football, not a good one at all. Lots of teams were trying not to lose too much energy, would sit back after a 1 goal lead. Teamplay was average at best, goalkeeping was great, defence was decent. Oh, and reffing was subpar at times.
