Pretty sure Coward Bastard is gonna be the title of my biography. Great video! So many films I still need to see, definitely adding stuff here to my list.

Really great video Flip! Loved hearing your thoughts on the Shaws. Looking forward to you starting up your Shaw Series! Fantastic job my friend 🙌

Congratulations my friend on achieving your goal. Now its time for reflection and decide where you want to go from here. I always got a little melancholy when I finished a deceased director's filmography. Knowing that there is nothing more to experience with a director is a bittersweet feeling. Fortunately the possibilities of directions to go is infinite. Here's wishing you many more goals to achieve. You need to make yourself a commemorative t-shirt.

Great video much respect for actually managing to track down every last film that Shaw Brothers released, much respect. I am around just under halfway there. I agree with you, they were the best film company. Much like yourself I love Venom mob movies, but I tend to favour Lau Kar-leung over Chang Cheh. Please upload again soon sir.

You should make a Shaw Brothers IVL collection video since you made them all. You are probably the only one

Glad to find your channel. I have been getting into Raizo Ichikawa's films (Sleepy Eyes of Death) and am slowly branching out. Animeigo's DVD's were to me very good but they don't have much on offer now; they seem to mostly be doing Anime. I am not as impressed with SamuraiDVD's discs so much. I recently bought Satan's Sword Trilogy, and A Certain Killer, Video=B- Packaging=D- ..I wish Arrow had made them. Do you have a video in your back catalog that shares where to find quality titles?

Great video, Flip! I'm still new to martial arts cinema, so this was very helpful. I'm beginning the Shawscope set from Arrow in June, so I'll be sure to thank you for putting some of them on my radar. Thanks, my friend!

Once you dive into that set I would love to do a video with you discussing your thoughts

Might be interesting to contrast one of your least favorites, Brave Archer & His Wife with one of the top films, One Armed Swordsman, as they have the same source material, the second Condor Heroes novel (Return of), and the same director. One-Armed isn't "officially" a Jing Yong adaptation, but by focusing on certain elements of a sprawling 1200 page epic (that itself is the middle part of a trilogy), to tell a pretty focused story in a movie time frame, manages to be one really great movie. IIRC, the first 30-40 minutes of brave Archer 4 close out the end of the first novel that the rest of the series attempted to put onscreen, before getting to Yang Guo's story. Brave Archer 1 (Kung Fu Warlords) is a weird out of context psychedelic classic for me as I remember watching it on TV back in the day. The sequels I got into after learning about the wu-xia novels and (TV series) in the last coupl'a decades. I do remember a friend rambling incoherently about the Brave Archer series kinda like I am now, long before I got to that point.

Do you recall a Shaw Brothers movie where the woman sliced her leg off and gave it to the old man she used to dance with? She was in love with two guys one old that she danced with but the other guy was a younger guy that was the hero of the film. I know it's an obscure ask. Thanks!

Question for you. Since you have everything released to region 1 dvd or region a blu ray do you have any of the following which are most likely region 3 and what are your thoughts on those? Village of Tigers, The Angry River, Ambush, Lady of Steel. These are Shaw movies I really want to have a new release from! I have them on vcd because the Celestial dvds are so difficult to find!
@dubsurgeon1742 Жыл бұрын
Angry River is Golden Harvest
@perryfan49 Жыл бұрын
@@dubsurgeon1742 Thanks for catching that. I always compare it to the others that I listed I think that’s why I accidentally put it in there. Yes Golden Harvest but needs a good release regardless. Thank you.

@@perryfan49 It has a lot in common with SHAWS, just check the credits ! So no wonder a bit of confusion occurred. The biggest difference is Angela Mao starring ! If you've not seen these yet , check out Lady with a Sword , Dragon Swamp, Duel for Gold, Black Tavern and Devils Mirror, all 'early' Shaws gems deserving of blu ray.
