Mickey doesn’t kill Frank because he doesn’t want Ian to hate him. Even though he’s acting mean towards Ian he does care for him it’s just the internalized homophobia and his dad blocking him from showing it. He punches the cop because he would rather go back to jail than have his dad find out he’s gay. Remember, he really does think Frank will tell everybody even though Frank really doesn’t give two shits especially when it comes to Ian who he doesn’t like in the first place.

Ian’s thing for old(er) men is unfortunately such a running theme in this. Although it’s never treated as what it is, pedophilia. Ian being treated as the bad guy for these relationships despite being a victim always drives me insane. It makes sense in the world of the show, they live in an area where it’s normal for teenage girls to get pregnant via fully grown men, and even marry them (like Karen and Mandy as well), but I still hate it

It's crazy looking back at these earlier seasons and seeing how minor of a character Mickey was. He has some of the absolute best moments of the show in later seasons and one of the all-time best character development arcs I've ever seen. Looking forward to seeing you react to so many moments! I will always believe Steve/Jimmy and Fiona are the best together. Both of them have insane lives. They both are notorious cheaters, so like maybe they just agree to an open relationship? I feel like they would be okay with that. And Jimmy is the only partner of hers to care about the kids. He understood it was her job to raise them, and he tried to help her. The other guys constantly tried to pull her away and never integrated with the family. He tried to make their lives better in any way he could. That is also the only person Fiona ever felt safe with. After him, she could not feel or be stable in a relationship. Every partner after will make you miss this relationship more and more. Mickey and Ian have the best growth in stories, but Mickey truly has the biggest character arc. I think Mickey represents a lot of queer youth who act out from fear of being gay. It’s hard to see his dad’s reaction because it verifies why he feels this way and why he is aggressive. Mickey is my favorite character from growth alone.
