The officer who shot the two B2s wasn't in clone armor because he was a medical officer, which are basically more highly trained and specialized clone medics that don't see frontline combat. They're still trained for combat, but they don't see it unless they're in dire situations.
@nicholasjones75424 күн бұрын
He knows that but his comment was saying why is bro a medic when he got them skills 😂
@CloneCommanderCrater11024 күн бұрын
@nicholasjones7542 Because that's what he was trained to be? He would've started his medical flash-training from the very beginning, so by the time things like accuracy come into play it would've been to late to transfer him to a different class since medical officers are so massively important.

I think the blurry shadows on the clones heads is just a cheap move to avoid having to model dead clone troopers when the droids remove their helmets for backgrounds almost noone would look frame by frame. They just displaced the standard model head to where the helmet ends, blurr the decapitated body to pretend the head was under the helmet and call it a day.
@eliaspeter76894 күн бұрын
Interesting, though later in the episode we see the dead clone troopers frozen and without helmets floating in the wreck. So it's not like there wasn't a model to be used.
@generalyoda83254 күн бұрын
Prehaps they wanted the head mutilated but can not show it.
@ZafiroDoesGames4 күн бұрын
16:10 I think the trooper’s missing head is actually an animation error. It’s likely that the Clone’s heads are made invisible while they’re wearing their helmets to avoid things like clipping, and someone probably just forgot to set the visibility toggle for this scene.

Fun fact about clone armor, it’s designed to disperse the heat from blasters, this has the unfortunate side effect of knocking them out. 9/10 times they survive.
@Epsilon-5Күн бұрын
“Though vulnerable to lightsabers and direct blaster fire, clone armor was impervious to impacts, pressure, heat, and acrid vapors” straight from wookiepedia so no they aren’t 9/10 getting knocked out, their armour is to protect against the elements and shrapnel.

I recommend reading up on both real life and Star Wars armor as I think that would clear up a lot of your confusion. To summarize my understanding: Phase I was capable of tanking lighter blaster bolts but was uncomfortable and heavy. Phase II was lighter more modular and designed much like modern combat armor to protect against glancing blows from blasters but mostly to protect against shrapnel and concussive force. As for the shields it's important to remember that GAR tactics generally rely on speed and maneuverability so heavy unwieldy shields wouldn't be a great idea. They're used here because their forces are forced to advance through long confined hallways with no cover.

One of the things I've seen you mention many times is droids having a "trigger finger reflex" when they die. The E-5 blaster that droids use is an automatic blaster, if the droids are pressing the trigger, and then are killed, there is no signal for them to let go of the trigger, thus their finger remains on the trigger until they fall in a way that loosens the grip. There isn't a reflex to feather the trigger or anything, their hands would just remain as they are, potentially squeezing the trigger, for several moments while collapsing. Also, for living organisms, this is a legitimate reflex. That's why in a lot of media you can see a standoff where someone has a hostage and a gun to their head. It isn't always a good idea to take out the bad guy, because if you shoot him or anything, the body will reflexively tense up, and it's very possible they will pull the trigger in the process. And of course for automatic weapons, the reflex can last a few moments causing multiple rounds to be fired before the grip loosens.
@hoddtoward56814 күн бұрын
my understanding (might be wrong) is that the material clone armour is made of (plastoid) converts some of the energy of the blaster bolt to kinetic energy, often knocking out clones or causing injury, a moment that would back thisnup is captain keeli getting up a while after being shot. I very well may be wrong however so if anyone knows more about plastoid then pls leave a reply, Id love to learn more

The only reason I'd assume that clone armour isn't made out of the shield material is that it's too heavy and would be like medieval armour. Clones were made to be expendable so the kaminoans wouldn't even care to incorporate these types of materials in their armour.
@Zombotron56784 күн бұрын
The shields might be great defensively in a tight area, but the shield are probably very heavy and cause clones to either be slower or get fatigued quicker. I don’t seem them being useful in a stealth mission, and in a larger battle field there’s tanks and artillery that would make the shields useless.

5:53 If I'm not mistaken, they explained this by saying that Jango Fett's DNA had to be stretched so that more clones could be made. And a "side effect" of stretching was that the quality decreased, including psychological problems such as nervous breakdowns or other illnesses. Tup was one of these "stretched" clones and, according to one theory, had PTSD from Umbara because they were attacked there by their Jedi.

I think the blurriness coming from the clone armor and covering up that one clone’s face was the breathable atmosphere contained in clone armor being vented out into the void. Without the helmet to contain it the oxygen from their back is just being shot out into the room.

If you go back to Umbara, I believe Tup’s chip started to malfunction during the battle. I think he triggered the chip when he stunned Krell. He was the first clone that we have seen in the show connect a laser to a Jedi as I remember . There also is a scene that zooms directly into Tup when Rex makes the decision to arrest Krell. It was terrific foreshadowing. It doesn’t fully explain why his chip malfunction…but I am sure this was foreshadowing. Check out the final episode of Umbara again for that detail! It blew my mind!
@darkblades12013 күн бұрын
So the clone without a head, what I believe had happened is that the primary model of clones wearing helmets, they don't actually have heads underneath because they don't want something to poke out. So what had likely happened is that they decided to put a clone trooper getting his helmet yanked off in the background but used only a "Main Helmet On" model and just forgot to put a head underneath. The blurring is likely to make it just seem like there's a head so that way the casual viewer, without pausing and zooming in, won't notice.
@TehAntares2 күн бұрын
I have my head canon explanation for why the clones keep shooting from behind the formation. Decades before and during the clone wars, the droid army was the largest, most well-known, and the most experienced military force in the galaxy. Maybe because of that, the other armies (including the clones) were trying to imitate their tactics or fully adopting them. That's why we see clones performing these formations in many battles, especially on the Geonosis.

I was thinking about the same thing. Why couldn't the clones use the shields or miniguns during the siege of mandolore. The fact remains that the republic had once faced them off screen and that was in Season 2 episode 12 mandalore plot. They would've known how skilled they were. I would assume it was because of plot armor, the homes. But sometimes for me it's more like fanservice where you got fans who loved clones and other fans who really deeply love mandalorians. And making sure things are fair for both sides. Idk that's what I've noticed when watching the clones struggling.
@alin42325 күн бұрын
My guess would be because they knew fighting Mandos on their homeworld would include intense urban fighting and aerial infantry. Z-6s (miniguns) and shields are heavy and would make it difficult for troopers to use on top of jetpacks. Granted, not all troopers deployed on Mandalore used Jetpacks but the point stands, maneuverability was most likely preferred over fire superiority, which is also pretty difficult to beat a Mando at.
@CloneCommanderCrater11025 күн бұрын
@alin4232 Yeah, a large number of the clones from the 332nd Division deployed with jetpacks, so most of them wouldn't be able to carry a heavy riot shield or a Z-6.

The blurred clone head has a few potentials... The clone originally was meant to keep his head and simply suffocated then later decided to decapitate him in the next shot, however their model may of glitched out and left a shadow. Or they chose to mutilate or decapitate his head and deemed it too violent and censored it in post.
