I Watched the Political Debate

Two nights ago I noticed that all my liberal friends were close minded to Trump. Without even giving the man an ear, they hurled all sorts of insults at him. I saw this undeserved criticism as a clue to investigate. Yesterday therefore, I sat down and watched the political debates between the two candidates, as any grown man or woman should. I share with you my discoveries and surprising insights in this episode.

I think people are more allured by trumps stature, witty New Yorker attitude and rodomontade than his actual content of what he is saying. Let’s be real, he said a whole lot of nothing. But next to a frail Biden, who had the occasional outburst, trump looks more „competent“. As a German watching abroad, it was entertainment and a testimony of americas current comicality. I watched old debates between Nixon and Kennedy for example, with much less arrogance and much more integrity

The willingness to change one's mind is closely tied to intelligence and upper-level cognitive functioning. I am unsurprised to see James possess this ability as he's highly intelligent in many domains. This is not only an example of open-mindedness, but an example of critical thinking which includes analyzing facts. Trump is a wealthy white male and has been a businessman his whole life. My guess is that he has had questionable relations to women throughout his career. This is rather irrelevant when it comes to things such as military, national security, economics, etc. Liberal women will call him a misogynist and then fall prey to the manipulative man that she works for. I do not condone misogyny by any stretch. But misogyny is trending as if it never existed in Ancient Greece, Midevil Europe, or the Victorian Era. If you're a man and say one questionable thing about women, you're a misogynist. There's a low threshold for the human mind to implement cognitive distortions as a way to deny reality. This is what the left is doing by saying Biden would be a better fit to lead the country. Despite having a questionable filter, Trump stands on business.

Part of the problem is that people vote based on who they would date/marry. "Would I let my daughter date this man?" Is NOT the question that should be in voters mind. There are many skills that a president needs, beyond looks or personality.
